Comporium subcontracted Connex communications to dig and lay fiber optic cable in my front yard. I don't know who to contact that Comporium so I'm simply doing Joseph and his crew from Connex communications did an excellent job of reconstructing my lawn so that I cannot even tell where they dug their holes. Without a doubt, the worst vendor experience I've ever had with an internet provider. I've moved many times, I've criss crossed the US from coast to coast & I've used all the major providers. First off, the internet service is unreliable. It's over priced Their customer service is weak. When I finally canceled the service, I was told it would be a month to get my balance due check, it was 2 1/2 months. Since the day I moved into the Comporium service area, I have nothing but internet outage issues. The sad part, Comporium doesn't even care. Their go to line is, everything is okay on our end. I need to start by saying I used to love this company, they were extremely helpful, worked with you and had great service. Definitely a standout in the industry and I felt lucky to have their service and praised them to everyone. However, within the past two or three years, they've done a complete 180 in terms of service. Speed issues, billing issues, customer service problems and overall satisfaction are now pretty abysmal. I can pretty definitively say this isn't just my own perception either. I work with many different companies and organizations and the same thing is reported (many have switched to competitors). Every neighbor I've discussed this with agrees as well. At this point I'm just hoping a competitor is able to come in and service residential. This is one of those cases where price be damned. I would pay a premium to an alternative provider at this point. I miss the old Comporium. read more

My experience with Comporium has been awful. I was forced to use a fire stick technology. The TV freezes often and need to continue to reset it. In addition I did not want to give my SS number so had to give $600 to open the account. I was to get my refund back after one year. There were multiple billing errors on the part of Comporium. My monthly bill went up by $100 dollars to $275. It took two months to get right. I could not work it out over the phone with service. I had to drive 20 miles and spend two hours in the store. The mistakes that have been made on behalf of Comporium continue. They refuse to refund my $600. They claim it is for the hardware. That was removed for the fire stick technology. In order for me to get my refund I have to get rid of Comporium. They continue to hold me hostage by telling me it will take 2-3 months to discontinue my account. According to Jason, the technical supervisor, everything is in a computer system that can't be manually changed. At this point I will go to the BBB and lodge a complaint. Unfortunately there are not many choices in my area but with that said this is one way to let you know my poor experience. read more

How is this place still in business? Terrible service from every part of the company! Our WiFi was out for 2 weeks of the 4 in our recent billing cycle. They were well aware of it because trucks were in our neighborhood often but couldn't figure out how to get our service working. When the bill came, it was for a full $115. I had been told all month that they wouldn't charge us for all the time that we had no service. Well, it's out again and I've been on hold for 32 minutes the first time and 33 this time (as I'm writing) and I still haven't talked to anybody. I tried to "chat" but that person introduced himself and said he would be right back. Well, our WiFi crashed again and disconnected us before he ever came back (which was at 15 minutes and counting). We went with Comporium for internet and now streaming and I'm not sure we did the right thing. We changed from Hulu because we were having terrible buffering issues. But now with Comporium there is a lag between when people speak and the voice comes. This has happened twice now in just 2 weeks. We have T-Mobile for cell phone service and are thinking of switching to their internet but then we're not sure which live tv streaming service we can hook up with. read more

Horrible company. I just moved into a new house with my fiancé, and because I had a good experience with comporium in the past at my old apartment I thought I'd use them. Tried getting internet at the house on move in day and was told my house didn't exist in the system and they needed to send a tech out. 2 days go by and I call again, and they say they didn't even send a tech out. Waited two days again and then called. They say I'm good to go but the original rep who put the request for tech in needed to set me up. Was told she would call me in a few moments to set me up. A few years ago Comporium was the best for service and support but that has significantly changed in the last few years. Obtaining any type of competent support is virtually impossible and the service has frequent outages. If there was any viable alternative I would jump on that immediately. Worst service ever!!! They give you a year to switch over to streaming after which there is no support what so ever. My firestick supplied by Comporium quit working after 2 months. Because Comporium did not supply me with a serial number or purchase order to give to Amazon, I was not able to get the firestick replaced by Amazon. When I called Comporium to tell them that Amazon would not replace the firestick because I could not provide them with the information they required, Comporium said there was nothing they could do. I would just have to order another firestick from Amazon and pay for it on my own, they would not replace the one they originally provided me. I will be a looking for a new service ASAP and never dealing with Comporium again!! read more

We've had Comporium TV and Internet for almost a year. The good: Installation was great. They came out when they said they would. The installation person was professional and courteous. I've only had contact tech support twice (internet upgrade questions) and they've answered the phone quickly. TV service: OK. Not the best but not the worst I've had. The multi-channel DVR is nice but we found their software to use it less than optimal. E.g., if you want to delete a TV show, you must start to watch it first, skip through the show and then delete instead of just a separate delete option. About two or three times a week though, the picture comes across pixilated for a few seconds. Also, they make changes to the way TV channel listing appear with no warning or notice. Internet. Our service/speed is 500 mps and is plenty fast enough. My son plays video games online (where the number of frames between moves matter) and he has had no issues. However, if you want to play certain kinds of games online (i,e. on the PS4) you will need to pay an extra $5 per month. The bad: Customer support. I just used their online chat and it took 12 twelve minutes for them to answer one question! Also, twice in the past 10 months there have been service outages of 6 and 10 hours. When this happened, they didn't even post a notice on their web site nor on the phone recording. This would've made the experience a lot less aggravating. read more

We have lived in the Fort Mill area for over 20 + years & have used Comporium the entire time. They seem expensive but we paid for internet & cable (Moxi). They both have worked well over the years. I work from home so having good, reliable internet was a must. We moved at the end of May & Comporium is still our provider. However, they switched us to their streaming service. I don't know any other way to say it but it SUCKS!!!! There are no numbers on the remote so you either up & down the channels or use the guide to find a channel. I can live with this as cumbersome as it is. The biggest complaint is with recording. You can schedule a show but it shows every episode under Scheduled, old or new. You can't tell what is actually set to record. Also, you can only go out for about a week. I can see missing lots of recordings. When I called to complain, I was told the company that supported the Moxi boxes did not support them any longer. Why not find something similar to replace this? The other option is to give us a remote for the streaming service with numbers to change channels. Have someone program the App that knows what they are doing!! To top all this off, it is not any cheaper than Moxi. GIVE US BACK OUR BOXES!!!!! read more

Internet frequently cuts out along with download speeds being very slow. I typically get 8mbps download on average, and less than 1mbps upload. Thats with just ethernet. I have used this internet for many years and all I have to say is that it is very dog shit. Want to play a game with your friends? Well nevermind because the internet has decided to go out for the second time within a few hours. Need to do your school work because its all online? Well you cant because the internet is out.......again. If you can, just get Carolina Connect. It is much better. I have had it before but had to move, resulting in me having to get comporium again. read more

Terrible experience.... Called on a Friday to set up time for installation. Was told between 1-5 Monday would be earliest. Told customer service rep I would not be home from work until 330. She told me the installer would call 30 minutes before arrival and understood my timing needs. Received call at 1pm Monday saying the installer was on his way. I informed him I would be at work until 330. He agreed and told me "Rush home." During my rush home I called to double check. Was told "ok." I am now calling them again at 6 pm, no installer, and after literally 20 minutes on hold I talk to a human who talks over me and DOES NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO SOLVE PROBLEM. Tells me the only option is to set up a weekend time. 0/10 Terrible company, not accommodating to customers, 1st time I have ever written a Yelp just to say this is such a bad experience. read more

I had home automation services with this company for several years. I paid a bill every month for self monitored security and automation service. The company sends a few letters saying I need to "upgrade" to keep my services working. The monthly cost will be double and the cost of the new router(hub) will be 49 dollars. I go ahead and get the stuff mailed to me and open to find out that they changed platform to Z-wave. I have a couple thousand dollars worth of equipment in my home that is Zigbee. I call company and they said they changed formats and said that I am SOL. Had no interest in working with me on cost of new equipment. No notice of company changing platforms until I received the new hub. This is a piss poor company to deal with. Would never recommend them to anyone. read more

If you keep Comporium because your monthly rate will go from $286 to $140 if you switch to live streaming there are some things you need to be aware of. 1) The firestick remote does not have the capability to enter channel numbers. No numbers on the remote. You have to go to the guide and scroll. 2) The sound constantly goes up and down. 3) The channels regularly freeze. 4) If you encounter a problem with the firestick you have to call Amazon tech support. 5) When you call Comporium customer support be aware, because they could be putting dishes away, eating etc. Very aggravating because you know they aren't focused on what you are saying. read more

My experience with Comporium started off pretty good. The install went smoothly, the installers was on time and the service was good for the first couple of months. Then we started having problems with our video quality and internet dropping. Then 9 months later we moved out of our apartment on 5/10. I paid my final bill in full on 5/10 even though we closed our account mid-way through a billing cycle and it's 7/11 today and I still don't have my money back! Why does it take Comporium over 2 months to get me my money and is it even legal for them to hold my money for this long? Duke Energy took less than 30 days to square up my account with them. read more

It's the only internet provider in the area or I would switch. Way overpriced because they have no competition. Been a tough year working from home with the poor connection speeds and you lose internet service several times a week. Really need a competitor to move into this area, lots of complaints about comporium on social media platforms so they would have no problem entering the market here. read more
