We hired Complete Tree Services to do our palm trees. We were looking specifically for a certified arborist that was licensed and insured in case there was any damage since the palm trees were so high. The palm trees were constantly dropping stuff all over my cars and driveway as well as long palm fronds everywhere. From the beginning they were very professional, honest and affordable. Their estimates were not the lowest or the highest, but they did the job and they did it well. The owner Rodney is super nice as well and explained everything in detail to us. We would highly recommend them to our neighbors and friends. read more

I had Rodney Frey with Complete Tree Service come out and do two days work for me. The second day I was having surgery and before I left for the hospital I paid his workers in full for two days. I had one of my workers check on his workers the second day two hour after they were supposed to start and they were just sitting around talking. After I returned home I saw they only cut back three small tree. I asked Rodney twice to come by and see what they got done. He assured me he would come look and make up his own mind. Rodney never showed up and now is calling me a crook since I asked for a refund for 1/2 a day since his guy's got next to nothing done. I doubt they even put in half a day. This guy is a bad person and I would never do business with him. read more

Rodney and crew were out again this year and I was not disappointed! He responded quickly to my request for a quote and were out as soon as it finally stopped raining. They did a lot of trimming back on some junipers, a couple of cypress, a pine tree and our cape honeysuckle and star jasmine hedges. They also did some light pruning on our magnolia, shaped a lemon tree and Rodney did some heavy and badly needed pruning on our old apple tree. They did an outstanding job, as I knew they would, including doing a superb job of cleaning up! Rodney is very friendly and gives a lot of good advice on care and maintenance of trees and plants. I might add that they are expensive, but well worth it! read more

Our trees needed professional attention. I found them driving by the team working on a property. I stopped. Within minutes the owner drove to my house. We agreed on the problems and care needed. We got a same-day quote. Scheduled a day for the work. The confirmed start time was 8am. At 8am they were here ready, with tools in hand. When complete the yard was left in the same condition as the gardener had left it the day before. Great job guys. read more

Rod is the man! When I called to ask about my (struggling) avocado tree, Rod answered my questions on the phone AND came to our house the same day. Not only did he give us input on our avocado tree, he also volunteered helpful information about our other trees, and water features, and lawn, etc. He seems to know everything about yards, not just trees. He did not try to hard-sell us or recommend frivolous or unnecessary services or treatments. Rod is high-energy with a lot of knowledge and he loves to teach. Thanks again Rod for being so passionate about what you do. Mark T. read more

Rodney, and his assistant Jason, did a great job trimming my six cypress trees and one olive tree. He has a "Bucket Lift" to get him to the top and high sides of the trees. They cleaned up the trimmings and were very respectful of our property. He is very reasonable in the cost of his service; his prices were below two other companies that bid on the job. I will be seeing Rodney every year to keep our trees healthy and beautiful. Would highly recommend to other homeowners... read more

Rodney and his crew were very professional...arrived on time, did great work on our Queen and King palms, took there time and cleaned up ALL of the mess made. I could not be happier...perhaps not the least expensive, but you get a licensed, bonded and insured contractor with a great reputation and, in my opinion...very much worth it! read more

Rodney gave me an almost immediate on-site estimate, communicated effectively, scheduled the job to start within a few days, and did great work. He and his crew excelled at too many different services to detail here (tree and stump removal, pruning, lacing, etc)... they were conscientious with our horses, kind, and efficient. We'll be using Complete Tree Services for maintenance and future work at our small ranch in Rancho Santa Fe, as well as another family property close by. read more

I've used a lot of various companies to maintain my palm trees, but I will be using Complete Tree Services from now on. Rodney is extremely knowledgeable, super friendly, and has your yards best interest at heart. I have one large Canary Palm that needed some TLC- the fronds were constantly turning yellow, etc. Well, Rodney has a special, home-made fertilizer that spruced the tree right up and has never looked greener. His crew was timely, professional, and did an excellent job at cleaning up when the job was complete. I will continue to use Complete Tree Service and I have recommended them to my neighbors as well. read more

Very knowledgeable and friendly, highly recommend this tree service company. Rodney came out the very next day and was on time. He had great ideas on how to take better care of my trees in our yard. I will continue to use them and recommend you do the same. read more

Amazing service! We had a large pepper tree in our front yard removed and had them stump grind as well. We met the owner, Rod, during the estimate and he was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. The price was also great!! During the removal, they made an extra effort to keep our fence and windows safe - including our neighbors as well! Super appreciative on how they took care of our home and our neighbor's! It was a large tree, so during the removal was a big task. Part of the tree was in the power lines and they were able to remove it safely and with care. Once they were finished, they cleaned our front yard and left it better than they found it. Again, beyond impressed with this business and will be using them again. read more

Met with the owner Rodney Frey. He gave us a plan to clean up out landscaping in workable phases. Rodney and his crew completed Phase 1, the tree trimming. Several of the trees were a challenge, all are old and in need of some focused care. They got it and now look fantastic. The crew showed up on time got the trimming done and removed all the trimmings and waste. The price for the work was fair. Rodney does a lot more than tree trimming, in addition to tree trimming and landscaping, he designs and builds custom fences, install custom gates, optimizes irrigation, pretty much you name it. In a nutshell, it was a great experience...we plan to have Complete Tree Services, CA back for Phase 2, in the near future. If you have a project, be certain to talk to Rodney. He will have some great ideas for you to consider. read more

We had to remove a large tree next to our front door but that wasn't the worst part. We had to have a company grind down a large stump that was in a risky location. I took bids from five companies and by far Complete Tree Services gave me the most confidence. They showed up on time with two trucks and four employees and were careful and professional the entire time. This was not an easy location to grind down a large stump and yet they did it without damaging anything, and the cleanup was fabulous. Rod, the owner was hands-on knew exactly how to approach the issues. I will use them again. read more

Rodney is a true professional! Quick to come a give a quote and very knowledgable on all types of plants. He walked me through what was more pressing to take care of and what could wait. So far, I have had them do two phases on my yard, and after each one it looked beautiful. Tree and plant trimming really do make a huge difference in the beauty of your yard! Rodney and his crew are respectful and always thoroughly cleaned up. I will continue to use this company for years to come! read more

This probably isn't a normal review but I believe speaks to the type of costumer service and quality people you get when you hire complete tree services. I'm a real estate agent and videographer and last night I was filming some B Roll for an Encinitas highlight video when I crashed my drone into a 75' palm tree on the side of a cliff over moonlight beach. It was 6:30 at night and my only thought was to call a tree trimming business. I found These guys on google maps and called. I actually called 4 others first with no response. But when I called COMPLETE, Rodney picked up first ring. I explained my situation and he said "I'm just sitting down to dinner but let me eat real quick and I'll come take a look". 30 minutes later he showed up, called his climber, and my drone is back in business! Ended up spending an hour or so just chatting with Rodney about life and business. I would highly recommend him for anything you might need done! read more

Rodney and his crew have been taking good care of our vast amount of trees for three years. The trees are trimmed yearly and fertilized quarterly with a formula that makes the plantings thrive. We are very happy with the quality service that Complete Tree Services provides. Our yard is always beautiful and looks very "trim". Rodney is very detail-oriented about his work and it shows in the results. I recommend this company for all tree service needs. read more

Amazing service. I have a lot of trees in my backyard and normally do all the work myself. The pile of trimmings was too large for me this time so I contacted several companies to get quotes. The quote was just to remove the 8 foot pile of my trimmings and to trim the walkway to gain access. Of the four I contacted, Rodney the owner was the most responsive. We connected on a Sunday and he came over that evening to give me a quote. ON A SUNDAY. His quote was VERY competitive. We arranged for him to come later that same week. They showed up on time, fully prepared and did a great job. I will most definitely use them again and highly recommend them to others. read more

Poor customer service. Took days to get responses. Overpriced. I do not recommend this company.

Rodney is an experienced arborist and an amazing tree whisperer. We went through several tree services to help maintain our extensive landscape full of trees and bushes. All were a bitter disappointment Some only fed trees. Some only trimmed trees. And none really understood the needs of the trees because the outcomes were not good. Rodney and his crew do it all. His secret sauce for feeding keeps our trees and bushes looking fabulous. And he has a real knack for trimming in a way that keeps the beauty of the plant. I highly recommend Complete Tree Services for your complete tree needs. read more
