I enjoyed working with Eric on painting our fixer upper. Our budget was tight and I appreciated that he made a miracle out of them. Gave them life again! Eric is very responsive and reliable. The job took longer than anticipated, but luckily we weren't in a rush and it wasn't a big deal for me. I rather have someone skilled and who pays attention to detail than someone quick and in a hurry to just get the job done. I'm going to ask him to come back in the Spring and paint the exterior of the home after our roof and siding is replaced. I hope he enjoyed working with me as much as I did with him.

I will start from the beginning of all of this. We just recently moved to Idaho and the home we…read morebought was clearly a rental. I put in a quote on Yelp and Eric reached out RIGHT AWAY. Came over, did a walk through of the house with us as we explained everything we were looking for. He explained he was a little short staffed and could have "some of his guys" come over to prep for a week and then could come by a week later. Fast forward, it's his 2 kids that are coming to prep the house... okay that's fine but there was never a set schedule. We would tell him to come by at 8, and it would be closer to 11 every day until they finally showed up... When it come to painting, we asked him if he could finish all of the painting in 3 days. HIS EXACT RESPONSE WAS "yes absolutely." So we decided we would just book a hotel and give him the whole weekend to knock it out. Yeah, 6 days later it was finally done. Noted, we asked for the same color on all the walls and ceiling. No accent walls or anything crazy. When it finally came to Eric being done, I've never been so disappointed. 1. There were areas of the home not even completed!!!! My husband had to go back through and basically repaint parts of the bathroom. The paint is also now peeling off the walls... 2. THE DRIER WAS BENT! We literally just bought it the day they were prepping, so it was brand new!! Hadn't been used yet, so very clearly was dented from them denting it. 3. Over spray everywhere. I don't expect it to be immaculate, but at the same time we had to scrub every corner of the house to get the excess paint off the counters and floors. Anytime you try to question he blames it on "being short staffed." HOLD YOUR CHILDREN ACCOUNTABLE THEN. Also, they aren't the ones that painted the house so that's on you... if you are too short staffed (just like the rest of America) then take some damn ownership and say you can't handle taking the job on. Now that my husband has touched up everything, it looks "decent," despite the fact that I still have a dented drier..."

Matt and his Father are actual jack of all trades, and their work speaks for its self. They installed a new front door on my OLD home built in the 1950s. Nothing is strait or level on my home, and it came out looking amazing. I even bought the wrong door frame and they were still able to make it work and do a bit of extra trim work as I had already painted the door and could not return it. I would highly recommend Talbot Handyman to anyone, and they will be getting all my business for my real estate and property management clients as well as my own personal work!

When we met Matt he genuinely seemed like a good guy, I truly believe that this job was bigger than…read morehe could handle and he should've said so upfront instead of following through with this in a very unprofessional way. We hired him and his father to build us an outdoor kitchen. They quoted us 6 to 8 weeks in the beginning and we were very patient with him all last summer when we started the project. All the sudden they started dragging their heels and things weren't getting done. Messages would go unanswered and he would say he was coming and not show up. Matt had issues with the countertops to begin with and changed to butcher block assuring us that the butcher block was made for outdoors. We never even got to use the kitchen before the countertops were completely cracked and warped . Instead of fixing it he knocked the price down because he did not want to have to take care of the countertops. We did agree and asked him if he could at least come and fix the concrete that wasn't setting right. After I realized what a nightmare job he did on the pizza oven I asked him if he could repair it, not once did he answer me or acknowledge the issues with the pizza oven. He told me prior to us hiring that he had indeed built another pizza oven. I am doubting that at this point since the pizza oven is now cracking and heat and smoke ks coming out of the cracks. This pizze oven also smokes from the front when the smoke should be going out of the chimney. After researching I found out that a chimney for a pizza oven needs to be a minimum of 6 inches in diameter and he put a 3 inch flue on there. This whole process has been a disaster. The bricks are now falling off on the kitchen sides and we have continually had to glue them back on. We had another contractor out to finish the countertops for us and he pointed out that the kitchen sink is not plumbed right and there's no way to blow out the pipes ao they won't freeze. They also put no insulation around pipes going to the house.

Brad was very professional during the entire experience and communicated well through the process. His crew often worked long hours and were punctual. My wife and I really appreciated Brad's knowledge and creative thinking and would give great ideas when we were stuck on how to remodel certain areas of the house. I personally struggled with envisioning how each room would look after the remodel and Brad did excellent at walking me through each process of the rooms to help me develop a clearer picture of the end product. I plan on using Western Idaho Builders (Brad) on my next big project of remodeling our personal home as well. Services performed: Installed new doors, moved doors around, moved walls around, built a landing with stairs leading to the back yard, painted inside / outside, removed cement stairs and blended wall with house, framed garage door, installed new lights. I had new flooring put in my a different company but Brad did the floor prep and did a great job for the floor installers. The project was completed just over a week past the projected completion time but I primarily put the blame on the painters for this. One slight negative to the project was the painters were not very punctual, had to come back multiple times, and I am not sure the quality of paint was what I paid for due to how easily it is to scratch the paint with my fingernail on accident. The painting itself was a good job and looked very professional. Painters were subcontracted by Brad and not completed by his crew.
