My wife and I knew we needed to remodel our master bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen. However, while we already planned all of the changes we would like to make, a major road block for us was interviewing contractors and pricing out the work.
Justin was one of seven contractors that we interviewed and got a quote from, all of which were pulled from top ranks on Yelp and home advisor. Originally we planned to remodel the bathroom and laundry room first, as a way of gauging our satisfaction with the contractor we chose before the later taking in the larger remodel of our kitchen. However, we decided to move forward with Justin and his team to remodel all three rooms based on four points: (1) he had recently completed a remodel of a family member's home, which looked great, (2) his pricing was more competitive than all competing bids, (3) his time table was four weeks, two weeks shorter than the closest competing offer, and (4) he kept the place extremely clean while we were living in the construction zone.
For those concerned with logistics, Justin provided signed cost agreements along with signed change orders throughout the process. Justin started with a timetable to complete all work in four weeks, and stuck to it to the day. Payments could be made via check in person to Justin, or by online portal with credit card or ACH transfer. All work was permitted, and while there were some issues raised during the rough inspection, Justin met all City requirements (San Jose) for final permit inspection. Justin was readily accessible via text, email, and phone. His wife also came by our house to check on the design elements and add an extra pair of eyes to ensure great work product.
As for the work, Justin did a full gut of our master bathroom, with tub/shower, vanity, toilet, and all floor and wall tile removed. Justin put in a walk-in shower with bench and custom frameless glass door with subway tile shower walls and pebble flooring. The vanity Justin put in was a significant upgrade, and cost less than competing models from Home Depot, which we originally had planned on. The floor tile was laid beautifully.
For the laundry room, Justin took iyt all flooring, and replacef an electric water heater tank with a tankless electric water heater. The electric panel was also replaced. Justin added two side-by-side sets of lower and upper cabinets with counter tops, again for a much better price than we were looking at from Home Depot. With Justin's great pricing, we also ran the laundry room flooring through to our backdoor, and replaced the frontdoor landing.
For the kitchen, Justin lowered and extended a pony wall countertop peninsula to a much larger peninsula with three double side-by-side lower cabinets added facing from the peninsula toward the dining room. New floor tile went in, along with new slab quartz countertops, glass backsplash, new sink, garbage disposal, etc. Older florescent lights were also replaced by Justin with recessed LED lighting.
