I had a mole in my backyard that was doing its best to destroy it. I called Complete Exterminating and they came that day and setup shop. Since I have a significant slope covering the majority of my backyard the technician was up front and transparent that he may not be able to catch this little guy, but I needed to at least try as I had no other option.
The only con I have is that the technician (Ted) made me feel that he was talking "down" to me instead of trying to educate me. Keep in mind that I have an MBA and work for a large tech company, so I am far from a stupid person but I have never had to deal with this issue before, so I needed education and I did not know what their process looked like or how moles operate.
Once they caught the mole, I thought that they would leave the equipment in place in case there were more. However, they picked up the equipment at the same time as when they picked up the mole. When I questioned why they were picking up the equipment after the first catch I said that I thought they would leave the equipment in place for the 2 weeks for which I was being charged in case there are more. At that time I was informed that "it doesn't work that way", which was stated in a demeaning manor instead of a tone that was more educational. Ted informed me that the service would include another check that same week and two more checks the following week and, if they found more evidence of moles, they would setup the equipment again at that time. Sounds reasonable to me but it would have been nice to have been informed of this in an educational tone instead of one that was demeaning.
That was on Monday. By Thursday of that same week I was interested to know when they would come by and check again as I work from home and had not seen them since Monday. Upon calling to inquire as to when they would be stopping by again I was informed they would stop by the next day (Friday) and that it was "on the paperwork". Well, I read the "paperwork" and I did not see an exact schedule as to what exact days they would be stopping by. Again, this felt demeaning and uncalled for as all I was asking for was their followup schedule.
I think this company needs to keep in mind that, while they may deal with this type of issue on a regular basis, the rest of us homeowners do not so someone who has 30+ years of experience needs to put themselves in the shoes of the homeowner who has 0+ years of experience and put on the education hat instead of the demeaning hat.
That said, as long as you're willing to deal with the potential disrespect or Ted I would hire this company as they are local, have been around for a long time and I appreciated the honesty and transparency about my specific mole problem. read more
