We asked Steve, Wally's business partner, to come out this past week to reassess and retreat our home for a carpenter and moisture ant invasion which has turned out to be a more persistent problem than we'd hoped last summer. Steve answered my after hours call and when he heard the panic in my voice at finding way too many of the little buggers, managed to find time to squeeze us into an already full schedule the next day. Due to the lack of maintenance by the previous owner and the unique structure of the roof and ceiling (exposed beam/tongue-in-groove), our house is more challenging to fully treat for insects, and Steve explained the ant behaviors that cause them to hole up inside warm home in winter. I gotta say, I've been really happy A&R Pest Services (and Wally, the owner). Last year I moved into a neighborhood with older established houses that had serious ANT problems. in 2017, I used a competitor of his, that had to come out multiple times to correct the problem. Not wanting to spend another season squishing them with my fingers or buy endless ant traps, I found A&R on Yelp (yea!). Wally arrived the next day all ready to educate me about the anties (called "odor ants" cuz they smell like turpentine when you squish them) and eradicate the nests. We have called Wally a year ago for help with carpenter ants. He took care of that immediately. This time, I had seen and heard a rat! Wally came out and thoroughly checked our house, attic to crawl space and found where they were coming in. He explained how baiting was not going to work and what we needed to fix it, permanently. Had Wally come out to inspect our home because we thought we had signs of pests. Wally did a thorough inspection from the attic to the crawl space and set out some little traps. When he returned a couple days later, he told us that the problem was resolved and we needed no further treatments at that time.
