My car had stopped shifting into 3rd gear the day before I drove it in your shop. I drove it in the…read morenext day told him the problem and he checked my transmission fluid and scanned my car to pull the codes. He told me the codes came back to "internal transmission failure" when it was codes for burnt transmission fluid and the overdrive solenoid/TCC. After he figured this out, he came back in and told me worse case scenario it would need a new torque converter (which doesn't make sense since it wasn't slipping) and quoted me 1500$ to replace it. He then told me it would cost 3000$ to overhaul the transmission, but it would cost me 200$ to diagnose it further. After I figured this out I was floored and decided to deal with it on my own. After one simple Google search I figured out it was TCC boost valve clip. Infact this is such a common problem with these transmissions that dodge sells an updated version of this part. I spent 40$ and two hours fixing my transmission when your shop wanted to charge me thousands. This was the first time I have taken a vehicle to a shop to have work done on it, and it was an unbelievably terrible experience. You run a shop full of thieves .

Mesa St., El Paso, TX, for an appointment to have my AC inspected and serviced. I knew something was wrong with it, but I wasn't sure what the issue was. After performing their initial diagnostic, I was told that a valve was leaking due to normal wear and tear and needed to be replaced. I was also told they would recharge the AC system and that, after the repair, my AC would be good to go. The total cost was $415, so I agreed to the work. I waited for four hours. When they finally came back to me, they told me they had emptied and refilled the refrigerant, but then determined that my AC expansion valve needed to be replaced because it was clogged. They quoted me over $500 more. I asked whether the $500+ was the new total or an additional charge. They told me it was additional because they would have to empty and refill the refrigerant again. I asked why the clogged valve wasn't identified before they refilled the system the first time. Their explanation was that they had to refill it first in order to determine whether the valve needed to be replaced. At that point, I told them I would not be having any additional work done there and left. Unfortunately, my AC was actually working worse than it had been when I arrived. Two days later, I took my car to a local mechanic for a second opinion. He asked me whether Firestone had told me they recharged the AC system. I said yes and explained that I had paid for that service. He then checked the system and told me there was ZERO refrigerant in it. According to him, there should have still been refrigerant in the system if it had actually been properly recharged. He also inspected the AC expansion valve and told me that the valve was fine. The reason the AC wasn't working was because there was no refrigerant in the system. I am extremely disappointed by my experience with Firestone, both with the quality of the service and what I feel was a serious lack of honesty and transparency. I was charged for work that, according to the mechanic who inspected my car afterward, had not actually been completed. I was then told I needed to pay an additional $500+ for a repair that turned out not to be necessary. As a woman, I also can't help but feel that they took advantage of the situation. It's the middle of summer in El Paso, I needed my AC fixed, and I was relying on them to be honest about what was wrong with my vehicle. Instead, I left feeling like I had been taken advantage of because of my circumstances. The amount they ultimately wanted me to spend was so high that I could have nearly replaced the entire AC system in my car for that price. Thankfully, I found a local mechanic who took the time to properly inspect my vehicle and, most importantly, treated me fairly and honestly. I will NEVER take my car to another Firestone again. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to expensive repairs here.

My Turbocharger had blown due to catastrophic failure and I also needed a new intercooler along with a clock spring to fix my horn. They allowed me to purchase parts from my favorite online retailer. Since then, J&S has worked on all of our cars, RVs and travel trailer. Stuart never says no...he tries to figure it out. If it is not something he does / can do, he tells you so and recommends a shop that does. His rates are more than fair and when he fixes something, it works. I also appreciate that he allows us to purchase the parts. We don't go anywhere else! Update Oct 3 2018 - He really goes above and beyond. The rear axle on our RV broke. The whole rear end had to be replaced. His friend was selling an RV with a similar rear end to ours. We bought it, had it towed to a friend's land. Stuart and crew removed the rear end and other parts, installed it, then modified the driveshaft. Once again she rides! Jun 2019-Since then, he replaced all the cylinders on my Chevy SSR. I bought it with the convertible top inop, joined an SSR forum, got step by step instructions w/photos on how to replace all the cylinders and he took it an ran with it. I now have a fully functional SSR convertible! He is also working on my husband's GMC Sierra.

We called University Auto Center first thing, Majec listened patiently and instantly said to bring the car in. When we arrived, we saw many other cars, yet Majec ran a smooth operation: relaxed, smiling workers worked at an expert, steady pace. He welcomed us warmly, expressed genuine concern for our welfare and tight schedule, and said he'd look at the car right away. He got back to us faster than expected. The problem was the compressor, and he couldn't get the part till next day. So, since I had that Albuquerque event, we figured we had to keep going sans air conditioning. Without any pressure, Majec clarified that the compressor could give out any time, stranding us on a highway in temps over 100. So, he helped us brainstorm a solution: my husband waited in El Paso for our car, I drove a rental ahead to my event, and Majec stayed on top of it all so my husband could catch up ASAP. Majec communicated well throughout, his team moved fast, and he charged much less than if we'd waited to do the work elsewhere. He also insisted we call from Denver to tell him how everything went.
