Ok first : I am not a fan of restaurants charging an additional fee for using credit cards. My wife and I are here a year ago and our food was very poor. Well we decided to give them another try. After all, it was Taco Tuesday. Plenty of parking here , they share it with other businesses in a little strip mall. We were seated right away. Ordered a Classic Margarita and my wife ordered a Cosmopolitan. I looked around and the restaurant was not very busy tonight. FYI: Pittsboro has 5 Mexican Restaurants. So hopefully the service will be good and it was. We ordered our food . I finished my Classic Margarita before our food came. I ordered another when we received our food. The food was better this time than the last , but still mediocre. I have had better from other Mexican Restaurants in town. My second Margarita, I have to say it tasted good but no taste of Tequila. I had 2 of the largest Margaritas , I should have felt something, but I did not. As I said in the beginning. I am not a fan of Restaurant Extortion. ( charging for Credit Card use ). Need I say more. Yes one more thing. That is the cost of doing business and a convenience of the customer. Many feel this way. I will not be back. read more

Come Hungry, too bad, you'll still need doggie bags! Ambiance - Incredible! This place is beautifully decorated, with a great selection of indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating is exceptional, especially their booths. It has a gorgeous selection of festive music playing at just the right volume so it is not intrusive. Service - Exceptional! Wonderful wait staff who are very attentive, respectful and enthusiastic. Food - if you are unsure, order more...but be cautious, you will still have more to take home, let me refer you to the name of this review. Best Mexican food in Pittsboro! We haven't been here in a long time bc we kinda forget it's here behind Lowe's Home Improvement. We came for lunch & everything from the salsa/chips to the AMAZING flan was delicious! The portions were very large & staff very friendly & courteous & they take extra time to make presentation of food nice. Love the atmosphere & high ceilings too & it will now be our go to for Mexican food as the other two in Pittsboro just haven't been as good lately. I've been here a couple of times before and hadn't been back in over a year. Because the food while good wasn't as good as the one in Siler. But this time it was better. It's in a row of shops behind Pittsboro's Lowes hardware. The interior is nicely dark and decorated. And the service was fast and friendly. The complimentary chips and tasty salsas came out right I got my menu. And after I ordered it my dish the salad came and before long the Fajita San José I wanted. I used the white dip that came with the chips as a dressing. The rice and refied were not the standard dried out crap you get at some Mexican restaurants but moist and tasty. I especially liked that they used Cojita cheese sprinkled on top instead of melted Swiss or some other white cheese. The fajita came out so sizzling hot that I had to let it cool a bit and the steam to die down so I could take a picture. The Fajita San Jose was delicious with the tender chicken strips, and grilled corn, zucchini, mushrooms and peppers and onions. An order for one is plenty for two meals. If I was just rating it for this time it would be 5 stars, but I'm including the previous unrated visits too. It appears they have upped their food game. I'll have to come here more often. Didn't have any mixed drink so I don't know about that but it's worth a try. read more

English review top : Spanish review on the bottom First and foremost it has a nice look walking in but as soon as you sit down you notice the chairs are wobbling you might fall and get hurt. On this day it was Friday and it was slow, hosted sat us down and got us menus pretty fast. Didn't really have to wait much for the drinks but once we ordered we noticed, but wait there is more once the end of our meal came we had to rack up our own plates and cups. The create your own combo was excuse my language shit and all I could think of is how small it was and made me think they were rationing food, super small and they give you way more rice and beans and the tacos Is super tiny and soggy the Chile relleno is flooded in sauce and soggy doesn't taste good at all. I got three tacos and came with a side of rice, the bowl looked more like I got a kids portion left overs. The tacos are $13 bucks and at just about any reasonable taco truck I can get 5or6 tacos for that price, the tortillas were cold and looked old or reused extra ones. I expect better quality from a fancy looking restaurant but it is better then any Monterey restaurants I get better treatment here at least and no snappy remarks or ugly looks. But compadres I can't imagine my service on a busy day if this is the experience on a slow day. The hostess was on her phone but I'll give it to her she was attentive and helped us more then the waitress. This being said the waitress was friendly and spoke English and Spanish, it looked more like she was struggling and looked like they gave her our table after some white folks came in and our original Main waiter took them instead. I believe we saw a manager walking around i wasn't sure but if he was and didn't bother to check out table instead giving fist bumps to coworkers and talking on his phone. Not badly priced but if they were to treat everyone equally and actually have their cooks make and serve everything like if they were serving it to chef Ramsey or their own mothers or fathers then it would go a long way for this restaurant. If your American just order or take the drive to fiesta grill cheaper and better and bigger portions and nice and hot and fresh. I found a live fly that was upside down in my salad. The waitress apologize and gave me another salad. I didn't eat it because all I could think about is rather it was a new salad or the same salad. When I was asked how was everything, I mention the fly in my salad. All I got was an apology but no discount or anything else. I definitely will not be going back to this restaurant again. You're better off going down the road to Mi Cancun. Nice atmosphere and all but I found a hair in my food and was charged 19-20$ for a house margarita which was ran up as "skinny". When I saw that this tiny margarita cost more than the entree, I asked the waitress/manager and they confirmed that the price was correct. We always welcome a new place to eat in Chatham County, so we were happy when we heard about this place. Let me get my petty complaints out of the way: The chips were not that great - they were cold, tasteless, and basically salt-free; there were not S&P shakers on the tables (or at least not our table); and the scant amount of guacamole put on the plates was useless, seriously, just don't even bother; the salsa was bland; and the skinny margarita was sweet which it shouldn't be since it's the skinny version. Onto the good stuff! There were 6 of us and each ordered a different entree, and each was very good. I had the vegetarian quesadilla and it is seriously the best I've had! First, it wasn't your basic spinach, onions, and green peppers; it had broccoli, squash, mushrooms, tomatoes, green peppers, and onions. The veggies weren't over-cooked and so they weren't soggy. And the flavor was absolutely delicious! They have a decent selection of draft beer that's offered in 3 sizes: baby bear size (16 oz), mama bear size (22 oz), and papa bear size (32 oz). They also had a ton of margaritas and other drinks to choose from. Others have commented on the artwork, which is imported from Mexico, and is pretty spectacular. The service was on par, and it's clear they believe in team work. My husband knocked his fork off the table, and a server nearby picked it up so quickly I'm not sure it even hit the floor, and a new was brought out within seconds. We did not feel rushed, and in fact, the check wasn't even brought out until we asked for it. They also have a decent size bar area, with a large bar. read more

In the area, hungry and was craving some huevos and chorizo for a late breakfast/lunch.. Fortunately, Compadres was open on a Sunday around 12:30. Though they don't really have a breakfast menu, they did have 3 egg brekkie options. Husband had his go-to chilaquiles, served with chicken instead of eggs, but still pretty good. They happily provided salsa verde on the side, per his request. Again, opted for take out which isn't optimal for egg dishes, but this worked fine. Would definitely return when in Pittsboro and craving Mexican food. read more

I haven't had a margarita in quite some time so when I walked into Compadres and saw that they had 30 different types I ordered two. They were made just right and very tasty and a third was not an option! The food is priced just right and they have some really cool artwork on the walls. This place is designed really nicely and professionally and nice and clean. There are plenty of other places charging the same amount Compadres does even though they're old and dumpy with a broken sign out front. The portions are large and I had to get a box. The wait staff was friendly, courteous and fast. I will be back for more burritos and margaritas! You will be very happy with Compadres if you are looking for a drink or just a nice dinner with the family. read more

Upscale atmosphere, fast friendly service and above average Mexican food. This new restaurant opened behind Lowes in Pittsboro about a month ago, and we decided to give it a try this weekend. It was busy but our wait was only about 10 minutes. Server was friendly, attentive and on point. Which is not always the case when a restaurant first opens. Drinks were reasonably priced (we had draft beer but I'd like to try some of their tequilas next time), as were the entrees. We had the ACP + steak and the Shrimp with Rice and Squash. It came out super fast, and we were so hungry I forgot to take pictures. But both dishes were delicious. Total bill for 3 beers and two entrees was $36. I hope this place does well, but not so well that we can't get in next time. Because we will definitely be back! read more

We like coming here because it isn't super busy and we enjoy sitting at the bar. We have always sat there and have enjoyed our food. The service behind the bar leaves a bit to be desired. For as many staff as you see around the restaurant there isn't one person constantly behind the bar. This is aggravating especially when you have to find someone to place an order or get another drink. Don't get me wrong I think the food is reasonably priced and it is quite good, with portion sizes being generous. HOWEVER, I was there yesterday and ordered a skinny margarita. My friend next to me ordered a regular margarita but asked for Patron. The margaritas came and were refreshingly good. So we decided to have a second one and had to go on a hunt for a bartender to make them. After she made our second round of margaritas , we saw her pouring what appeared to be a giant margarita with what we were told had 4 shots of tequila in it. We asked the price and were told $20! I am a bartender / bar manager and was astonished at this price. I asked how much a regular well margarita was and was told $7... my friend asked for Patron in her regular margarita and fully expected a slight up charge. We finished our drinks and asked for the bills ( 2 separate checks). I was gobsmacked to find out for 2 Skinny margaritas was $38!! $19 a skinny margarita!!? Are you kidding me?! My friend was charged $34 or $17 a piece for her two margaritas made with Patron which was also a bit pricey. I was infuriated at the pricing of my Skinny Margaritas (we were told they were made with Jose Cuervo silver... which I carry at my bar and I know the actual cost ). I will likely never again drink at this establishment ( at least not a skinny margarita). I should've asked the price beforehand, and that is on me. However, $19 for a skinny margarita is more than anyone should ever have to pay. Very disappointing and infuriating. BUYER BEWARE!! read more

First the good: The margaritas were out of this world. Better quality tequila makes all the difference, and I imagine they use real agave rather than some kind of cheap syrup. The fajitas were tasty, although way too salty. Now the rest: DH and I both had fajitas so we can't speak to anything else on the menu. But usually fajitas come with guacamole and shredded cheese, and neither were delivered here. There was a plate of lettuce with some flavorless smashed avocado and sour cream, and no other accompaniments other than tortillas. The chips were kind of stale and the salsa tasted like crushed tomatoes with a couple of peppers (we're spoiled by Guanajuato in Cole Park where the chips are fresh and warm and the salsa is delicious). I don't think we'll be back. San Felipe is a better bet for Mexican food in Pittsboro. read more

Horrible Service I booked a reservation for my company retreat 3 weeks in advance. We get to the restaurant and no greeter addressed us after waiting 5 minutes a busboy came up and ask how many people! He said wait and had to put tables together they never acknowledged we had a reservation or apologized for not having the tables ready. It only got worse the waiter came and missed several drink orders to come back ten minutes later to our order basically screaming across everyone instead of walking like a civilized person and take orders the right way. Typically have a wonderful experience here but tonight was totally different. My fiancée and I ordered the queso dip to share. I ordered a mango margarita on ice and the ACP and my fiancée ordered the chicken tortilla soup. My margarita was clearly just mango flavoring. When the queso arrived it was cold so we sent it back, no big deal, when it arrived the second time it was cold again. My ACP came out at least ten minutes before my fiancée's soup and when her soup came out it was the incorrect soup. The server and two other employees wanted to argue about it and became very defense and rude for whatever reason but it was not the soup she ordered.
