Let me start of by saying what my personal experience has been. Those that say they received bad Customer Service from Maggie was not the case with me, my experience from day one has been great, and nothing less, she also confirms my schedule with me for the following week ahead, she definitely handles her business in a very professional manner and I appreciate that. Judy, my Physical Therapist, she's excellent with my treatment and care she provides me, always following strict orders from my Dr. while treating me, always asking me if I'm ok. Since I've been going there for therapy, I feel better when I leave, Judy also instructs me on stretches to do at home. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, why because they care. For those who judge because of the area, truthfully speaking...that has nothing to do with the inside, or the treatment and quality care you receive. Would I bring my Mother here for treatment...yes absolutely. Lastly, all the staff are friendly, caring, and professional, and have always provided me Excellent Customer Service. This is for the Long Beach office. I didn't even get to set foot in the door. I spoke with the receptionist who is very rude & demeaning. She was very unprofessional and she is making the business lose money. She refused to call my doctor's office for me to get a prescription nor will she call my insurance company to verify payment. Its not what she said to me that was upsetting. It was HOW she said it. I don't know how good the therapists are but first impression of the receptionist is all it takes. Receptionist has my phone number, DOB & my insurance card. If you want to reconcile this bad review, you have my number. I called at 11:16 AM today. I am a very reasonable person and am willing to take this down off of FB & Yelp. Please talk to people with respect. I've called several Physical Therapy offices earlier today and they all were willing to help a patient or point them in the right direction. They are patient and understanding. Not this receptionist. She actually told me what her job is and that its not her responsibility. Whether it is or not, that girl (yes girl because a grown woman wouldn't act like that) - she lacked tact, general respect and is not a very good listener. You have patients in pain & are in need of medical professionals who can understand what they are going through. My experience was similar to J.K. G. The "Doctor" (not sure you need to be one, to run a PT clinic) asked a couple of mundane questions, completely oblivious to my answers, then the woman at the front took me to another room, and began the massage. The door was left open, and I had to ask her to close it, as I was down to boxers during the massage. After a while, she went onto electrical stimulation, and wasn't too concerned about the placement of the electrodes "we'll get it right next time". This place is a throw-back to the 70's, much has changed with PT since then. This is a glorified massage parlor, and a lackadaisical staff. They're nice enough, certainly, but I'm not taking time off of work for nice. read more

First let me start of by saying this place is a little on the old side. No upgrades or nothing. But the make up by being awesome!!!! I felt good going in and even better when I left. These are the nicest people ever. I cannot tell you how much I can't wait to go back here for more therapy. I had a copayment but no cash. It was a little store across the street. One of the worker offered to walk me to the store because she wanted me to feel safe. They really care about there patients. That melted my heart. I was born and raised a few blocks away, so I already knew I was in the hood. I also knew this community is loving. Kudos to this business for providing excellent customer service!!!! read more

Community Physical Therapy - So relaxing - Physical Therapy Near Me - Long Beach, California

First of all, the staff here is nice. That is not the problem. The problem is the lack of communication and skill. I came in for a massage with Judy, but spoke to Mr. Jackson, the PT, first. Mr. Jackson, again, was very kind, but was not hearing what I was telling him. I would explain to him about the MRI's that were done for my injuries, and then he would ask if I had any MRI's done. Then, when it was time for my massage, Judy brought me to the back room, closed the curtain, and told me to get undressed. I have never had a massage where the massage therapist insists on you getting undressed while they are still in the room with you, and without offering anything to cover up with. (Usually the undressing would happen in private and then I'd be covered up by a sheet before the MT comes in.) Her method made me extremely uncomfortable. I insisted on having something to cover up with so she handed me a hand towel to drape over my shoulders. The worst part was the massage itself. She proceeded to touch my back like she was brushing dust off of it. This was not the deep tissue massage my muscles needed. Then, she used a tool that resembled an elephant tusk, and began stabbing it into my head without using her hands first. This was very painful, especially because she was hitting spots on my head where there was some acne. I stopped her and told her I have pimples that she's hitting and it's very painful. She confirmed with me that it was painful, and then proceeded to stab my head, neck and back with this "elephant tusk" tool, in spite of what I just told her. I stopped her again and she finally agreed to stop touching my head. But the damage had already been done. I left with painful, bleeding, oozing wounds all throughout my head, which are still not completely healed after several weeks. Judy did not bother to examine my body first with her eyes and hands BEFORE jabbing this hard "elephant tusk" object into parts of my body. Judy also pressed parts of my palms so intensely, the pain was almost unbearable. I have several injuries and I am used to a certain amount of high-level pain, but this was too much. I asked her if it had to be so painful and she said yes, then continued pressing. I am open to trying anything to help heal my injuries, but this massage was torturous. If you are one who enjoys a private, relaxing massage, there were no private rooms, and it was not relaxing. The massage room was like a drafty community room with just a curtain separating you and the rest of the room. Another customer actually walked back there during my "massage," so Judy left me to go talk to him. My experience here was terrible and I will not be returning. read more

I've been to many places. And this little place to me is one of the best. Yes, its not pretty, not the fanciest, looks like a converted home but BIG. The ladies here are adorable. The head nurse Judy is Chinese and her methods are old school witch I like. You don't get just the normal PT stuff, you also get a little of her secrets. Pressure points, and so on. This Long Beach office for physical therapy might give you a sense of old and not very professional. But I got to tell you that since I have been going here for my ankle, everyone is great and they will assist you the fullest of their ability. The doc is old, but he knows what he is doing. The receptionist is super nice and she answers all the questions. The employees are great as well. There is one lady that does the best massages. Forgot her name. But over all this is a great place. It's affordable and it helps with whatever you need therapy for. It's like I almost don't want it to end. I think I will be coming back even after my ankle is healed. They do body massages as well and I can't wait to try it. Well this place is great! I recommend for everyone to give it a chance. read more

I agree with the other one stars. I was referred by my doctor and I too arrived to a run down old building. Maggie was very nice, Dr. Jackson is a bit spaced out and had not read the papers I filled out. His Doctor jacket was dirty, especially at the cuffs and pockets. He was nice but told me nothing. At one point I was afraid he was going to sleep. Judy has poor communication skills so she got on the table and showed me what to do. We stretched my back then some massage finally electric current and hot towels. Judy turned on the machine and left. She never checked on me. Once the machine stopped, I waited then began taking the stuff off my back. She came in finished and said that is it. This place needs to be cleaned! The pillow I was given smelled and was dirty. My back feels some better but I would not recommend this place. read more

Community Physical Therapy Center is the best physical center place I have been to. I was injured and was referred here and it has helped me so much. The staff is very attentive and get to know you right away. They were very welcoming on the first day I came and continue to be at every visit. The message therapy is excellent and I felt amazing just after my first session. Judy is the best therapist! She is very kind and very thoughtful. Her knowledge on healing is incomparable. I came here for therapy on my knee now I must say when I pulled up to this the building I was in shock. The building need a major up grade, however once I walked in I was greeted by a sweet older lady. Dr Jackson was kind but can't really hear, you would tell him something but then he would ask you the same thing. Dr Jackson has a assistant by the name of Judy, she known what to do, to get your range of motion going. I was ready to walk out this place make this my first and only Appointment when she told me something that made me stay. Judy told me that before she does the therapy she prays for healing for you. She encouraged me being that I had major surgery and the recovery time has been taking longer than I expected, Judy is good at what she does, I am thankful for her. I asked if they treated Women's Health patients at their clinic and she proceeded by telling me to not call back if I don't know what I am talking about. This was honestly one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had in my entire life. I was sent here for physical therapy. I got to the building about 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment and it was locked up and nobody was there. Finally someone did show up. The building is run down, dirty and disgusting. There is trash and broken down equipment in the little "courtyard". There are flies outside and in the waiting room. The staff was incredibly rude and I waited over an hour past my scheduled appointment time and still was not seen. The entire time I was waiting, the alarm system was loudly beeping and the staff refused to attempt to turn it off. I am a person who works in the service industry, so I am normally very relaxed and accommodating when it comes to issues because I understand how hard dealing with clients can be, but this was just ridiculously bad service! Save yourself some time and a headache and take your business somewhere else!! read more

I was very pleased with the services rendered at this Center; its people were very friendly and I had a very good therapist.

I've been there twice now for PT and I can honestly say Judy is very good. She understands how to use modern medicine along with Chinese or Far East medicine to relieve you of the your pain. I would strongly recommend them for your PT needs. read more

I was given a consult to them through my military affiliation. I was a little concerned when I first drove up to the place. However, once inside I was pleasantly pleased. I meant with the charming doctor and the therapist. Then I received my first physical therapy treatment and it was amazing. I have had therapy and massages before but this therapist (Judy) is exceptional. She is very professional and very knowledgeable about the care needed to treat her patients. I am fortunate to have them and would recommend that anyone with issues regarding their backs, shoulders, legs and etc to make this center the first stop and final stop. read more

Judy is in a word "fantastic"! She is, clearly, very talented in physical therapy and massage and what's more is she really cares. She listens to what your need and follows through. The other amazing thing is how hard she works. When you get a 60 minute deep tissue massage you get 60 minutes with no breaks or pause for rest. She has the strength and stamina to give you more than your money's worth. Highly recommended! read more

Very Friendly, however, not in the best area of Long Beach. It is very close to Long Beach Memorial Hospital so if recommended by Memorial, it is not far, 5 minutes down the road max. When looking up on internet, yes their building is surrounded by a tall white iron security fence. There is very minimal parking. Parking is on the street. Do not be mislead by "you can park anywhere." Building has very minimal light outside when dark. Dr J Jackson, physical therapist owns Community Physical Therapy Center, also has an office in Compton where I believe he spends most of his time. Dr Jackson is very knowledgeable and professional when it comes to PT. When he works with you. The actual therapy is provided 99.9% by Judy, Manager and Massage Therapist. Gloria, front desk is a jewel after you get to know her. All are very courteous. Very concerned about your safety. Judy does not really refer to a file, forgets why you are there, have to repeat over and over again. Be sure to speak up if something hurts otherwise the therapy will not benefit you at all. There is no pool and/or water therapy at the Long Beach facility, could be at the Compton facility. The website would lead you to believe there is a pool, and when asked before starting was told yes there was at Long Beach, once started not sure where. If you want great message therapy this is the place to go. Judge for yourself as most know, reviews are very subjective and personal. Your experience could be different.
