I've had positive experiences with the physical therapists at this location but the front desk staff ruins it all for me. I was waiting to write this review but my recent experience over the phone just pushed it over the edge. The front desk staff makes me feel like I am bothering them. Even checking in- come on it's part of your job!! Looking at previous reviews it seems like it has been an ongoing issue. I was overcharged on my first 2 appointments and ended up with a large credit. I was notified the therapist I was working with was leaving and the only other therapist that has experience with my issue does not have availability for a few weeks. So I wanted my credit back as a check- it showed on my insurance application that the claim was processed so I called in. I spoke to Jaden and she said that it was not sent back to them yet so they would call me back when it did. I confirmed with them that they would call me back and she said she wouldn't just leave me hanging.. Then I said thank you, bye and she proceeded to just hang up without any bye or anything. I don't know why every front desk employee seems like they are miserable working there- not sure if it is management or just all of their bad attitudes every time. Won't be returning. Please retrain the front desk!! Makes me feel uncomfortable interacting with them. read more

The physical therapists are excellent. The front desk staff except for one or two exceptions are extremely rude and unprofessional. They hang up without saying goodbye, they talk like they're doing you a favor by answering the phone or any of your questions and they sound like they haven't been trained at all. The aides are friendly but only a couple of them actually watch and help you with your form on your exercises which is the point of their job. It is hard to rate this location because the therapists themselves are excellent. It's just everything else. Management should take more of an interest in training their staff. read more

I stopped by this location a few weeks ago to see what they charge for shockwaves therapy. I was told it's $40 per session or 3 sessions for $80. I stopped in today to set up an appointment and now they are saying well since it's your first time I have to pay $125 for the first session with the pt and that is not for the shockwaves and every other appointment is $90. I tried their other location and all the PT they do is lame for me. I went for 10 sessions and still in Lower back pain and knee pain. I went to my chiropractor for an adjustment and medical massage which cost $125 and felt 10 times better than all the treatments from these places. If you have back pain, knee pain or other bone related problems go see a good chiropractor and get an adjustment it will be the best thing for you. I can't say my chiropractor name but he's located in Downey on Lakewood blvd near the original McDonalds. Trust me this guy dies amazing results!!! read more

Not exaggerating at all but the help I received here changed my life. I have flat feet and a job in which I'm walking a ton every day so I developed severe Achilles tendonitis and ended up being out of work for 3 months. In addition to that I already had plantar fasciitis and posterial tibial tendon dysfunction. So tons of foot pain and many days after work I had a lot of trouble walking and it was even worse with the Achilles injury. So my foot specialist recommended physical therapy and I went here. I had gone to their other location before with a knee injury and they helped me a lot and this time was even better. The staff at the front desk is friendly and attentive as are the physical therapists and aides. Great service. My physical therapist was Isiah de Guzman. This guy was incredible. At the first visit he examined me, tested my limitations, asked targeted questions, and formulated a steadily progressive treatment and exercise plan for me with PT exercises to do at the facility and also at home. The exercises were a combination of stretching, strengthening, and balancing exercises. In addition to that he did massage therapy to loosen up the tense muscles around my infected area which helped a lot also. Another thing I opted to do, which they offer there, is shockwave therapy and that also helped improve my condition. Isiah informed me of orthotics that would provide me appropriate support and went over the best footwear for me to wear with my foot type and conditions which has helped tremendously. I went there for roughly 10 weeks twice a week while I was out of work and progressively felt better and better and actually now stronger than before my injury. With the help of Isiah and the rest of the staff there as well I'm now recovered from the Achilles tendonitis and am in very little pain from my other foot conditions. I'm back to work and actually back in the gym and living an active lifestyle again. For a while I was losing hope and was thinking I may end up hobbling around for the rest of my life. Now I'm not and am actually stronger than I've been in years thanks to Isiah and everybody at Southland. I'm extremely thankful for the help I received and would highly recommend going here if you need physical therapy. They're simply the best. read more

10/10 would come back! Highly recommend! I partially tore my MCL at the start of the snow season snowboarding. I was able to start physical therapy in February. I found Southland Physical Therapy and met Sami! He told me I'd be able to snowboard again before the snow season ended! He wasn't wrong, by mid April I started to feel almost 100% and was able to snowboard, play soccer, and play basketball as if I never was injured! They really know how to challenge you in a good way to get back on your feet sooner! The exercises are challenging and fun! They also tailor the exercises based off your background and skill (like if you're a soccer player they'll do soccer oriented drills). Extremely unprofessional. After making an appointment, filling out tedious paperwork, and waiting two weeks for my appointment, I get a call two hours before my appointment. I was asked if I still wanted to come in even though the only pediatric therapist would be leaving the clinic the next week. I have been going to Southland PT for several months now for a few different issues. They have been very helpful and I really enjoy going in and getting my therapy...even though it does kick my butt sometimes! It has really helped me feel much better and stronger. I started my treatment in July 2024 for a broken ankle and had surgery to put some plates and screws in. I was not walking on my own two feet on my first visit. I was under the care of Drs. Sami and Jessica. 6 months later, going twice a week, I am walking on my own with no pain and have been able to resume my normal life activities. I am so thankful to Sami and Jessica for taking such great care of me. They curated a personalized treatment plan for me and my injury. Then if I hang up and leave a voicemail no one calls me to confirm my cancellation, then I get charged as a no show! Okay after back surgery 2 years ago I started experiencing lower back pain again. Was refer to PT by my Orthopedic surgeon for help. I found this office by the Yelp reviews... Happy to report I have found the same great help in the reviews. Sami has very energetic (energy) and compassionate hands. Knowing how much pressure is work my body before therapy exercises. The professional staff doing physical therapy are great! BUT the front office is unprofessional! I read great reviews on the PT staff and that's why I chose this place. I decided to go to Southland even though my copay is higher than the other PT places my insurance recommends in network. I also read the bad reviews about the front office giving people problems. I didn't think I would come across this problem but I sure did! Not once but twice! One person can ruin it for everyone up front! Talked to Leslie and hope she addresses the issue with her receptionist(s). NO professional setting should hang up the phone on any patients if there are scheduling conflicts! After 10 years of on an off back pain I finally accepted that I would try PT. I was surprised at how I progressed and healed so fast all due to Southland PT. Jimmy, my PT is a Jenius. He was able to diagnose my issue so quickly and developed a plan to fix my pain acutely and for the long term. I chose Southland Physical Therapy (SFT) partially because of all the positive Yelp reviews. Had full knee replacement surgery in May and after some in home therapy, began therapy at SPT. From my first interaction with the front desk staff, till today when I was discharged it was a positive experience. I rarely provide reviews but feel the need to share about the care received. The therapist that provided nearly all of my support was Courtney. She was nothing short of amazing. Great attitude, knowledge and a desire to make the program she developed work for me. She even incorporated some drills to help with my golf game : ). Went to my Orthopedic Dr. last week and he was quite surprised by the great range of motion and complete lack of pain after only a few months. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I'm finally going back to work - much thanks to the tireless efforts of this PT Team! I had started post surgery at another PT office and I was not happy with the treatment. By the time I asked my surgeon for a switch I had already developed a-lot of scar tissue. James Lee PT, DPT started my case and I knew immediately I had landed in the right place. My case was a difficult one, and my visits outlasted Dr Lee as he informed me he was taking a new position with the company and I was transferred to other PTs. I am so very grateful to Dr Lee for getting me back on track to health and back to work! After James Lee, DPT I then rotated my Physical Therapy sessions with James DiMascio, DPT and Phillip Ngo, DPT. Both completely different and very effective. I have to say I was worried by the time these two gentlemen worked with me. My case was stretching far too long and I was wondering if I would ever get back to work. I've gone to different offices for physical therapy in the San Fernando Valley & Long Beach. By far, the care and treatment I've received at Southland Physical Therapy has been the best. The therapist assigned to me is Sami. From the very first session, he took time to listen to what I shared about my injury. I would have liked this place had they not let a homeless person on a bicycle come up and harass us while we were waiting for our ride back and he claimed we aren't supposed to be on the property and I asked him if he worked there he said don't worry about it so I told him to leave us alone before I call the authorities, please watch out for homeless in that shopping center, they will harass you the physical therapy place itself is good but just not the atmosphere. My primary doctor recommended Southland Physical Therapy and I'm so thankful that she did. I was experiencing intense back & neck pain as well as extreme weakness on my left arm most likely due to cervical radiculopathy (per MRI). This was tough for me because I'm generally a very active person. After about a month, with the help of meds and PT, my pain was gone. The next couple months were focused on gaining strength back in my left arm. Shout out to my PT Sami who helped me do just that! Sami listened to my concerns, understood my goals, and gave me appropriate exercises to do. He knew when to push me and I appreciate that the most! I love Southland Physical Therapy! I started attending in February 2024 for my rotator cuff and bicep. Dr Sammy has been incredible from the start. I just started coming to Southland Physical Therapy after having my 5th knee surgery for my patella that was fractured. I've been to so many different PT places and Southland is by far the best one I've been to as they take such good care of all their patients! They truly want to help everyone in anyway they can. This location is fantastic. I go with my client, and they treat her like V.I.P. she thinks she is! The doctors make her comfortable and make sure she has no excuse not to succeed. LOL. Her current doctor is Dr. Philip. He's so nice and accommodating. He even got her a blanket because she was cold. At each appointment, he educates both of us and uses her crazy personal goals to encourage her. He is even kind enough to let me record his instructions for her family to help her at home. During his time with her, he is so personable. She explained that she wanted to be able to take a trip to go shopping. So, each session, he would bring it up. "You want to be able to carry all those bags?" "These will help you so you don't have to end your shopping trip early!" Sometimes, she even forgets we're here for work, not the laughs. As you might guess, this does make them really busy (NOT overly crowded), but that can be managed by booking your appointments out in advance. read more

I decided to try out Southland Physical Therapy to help with some back issues. I had a brief consultation with Sami - which was fine. There was a lot of sitting around waiting afterwards. Then the rest of the time I spent with a PT assistant with seemingly little experience. Basically it felt like a random guy was given 10 minutes of training and they called it a day. My main gripe is with the billing. I had to pay $120 on the spot for a session that lasted less than an hour (again mostly waiting). Yikes that's a lot higher than I've paid at other PT clinics. Then a few months later, they sent me an additional bill for $30. So $150 for a PT session that was less helpful than most of the YouTube PT videos I've seen. I called into their overseas billing department to see if they could reduce the invoice amount. No surprise they cannot deviate from script and have no authority to make billing changes. I also called the branch directly, but the front desk person wasn't either willing or able to reduce the charges. When I let the front desk person know that I would likely leave a negative review, she seemed unconcerned. Hmm I am now starting to wonder how many of these 5 star reviews might be fake AI written. Anyhow, I would say if you decide to go to Southland Physical Therapy, do your due diligence and just be aware of the potential cost. read more

Hats off to Dr. Laura Murillo as she did an outstanding job over a 6 week period to help me recover from a left shoulder replacement surgery. After my 6 week doctor visit I requested additional PT. This rating is based off of management and front desk entirely. I do not usually rate a location by their customer service, however my experience has been horrible. The front desk continued to charge me beyond my deductible claiming I still owed. After weeks of this and checking with my insurance, it finally was shown they overcharged me. I have now been fighting for reimbursement, calling, leaving messages, promised call backs, etc with no resolution. For this reason, I will not return to Southland or recommend them. read more

Long overdue update! Roughly 18 months ago I wrapped up my last session with Dr Ari for a grade 2, partial grade 3 ACL tear from a beach volleyball incident. Selecting Southland and working with Dr Ari was a bit of fresh air in comparison to a previous location. After a few months of PT, I was able to get back out to running longer distances and playing beach volleyball. Mind you... I didn't necessarily get better at volleyball but hey, can't get miracles. BUT I can't recommend her enough. Overall, she worked with my goals and was able to create a program that was creative enough to get me back on the sand. read more
