ZERO STARS. My husband Luis Torres got a car for me and our newborn son. Got it May 2023, we've had to leave the car at their shop multiple times. There has been nothing but problems with this car. When we took it back the first time they discovered I need a new brakes and motors... Do you not check a car before you buy it and put it on your lot? Second there was problems with the gas intake. Third the head gasket blew only one month after having it... Had it in the shop for a whole month and three extra days to charge an AC which only takes an hour... They have some nerve charging $1400 for a car that has over 200!!! Thousand miles on it. Everyone's been doing nothing but bullshitting me and my husband. Whatever person owns this place just know you have a lawsuit coming. Not to mention the hundreds of other horrible reviews from this place of how they sell lemons to people. You guys should be ashamed of yourself genuinely. Now our families out of a car once again and we have to wait for a lawyer. Oh just to mention while I was in there filing a complaint for what was wrong with the car a lady came in through her keys at the guy and said they need to fix her car that she just bought. Back in January I financed a car through commonwealth motors recently I took my family and I on a vacation to sesame place on the outskirts on Philadelphia,Pa where my car started acting up... long story short I got it towed to Toyota where they said my transmission is bad so I called commonwealth motors about the warranty on the car and they said " your warranty went out 4 days ago & 4 thousand miles ago" so there nothing we can do sorry bud. I have only had the car 6 months 12,000 miles I got with 166k went out at 178k. I highly recommend staying far away from this dealership! read more

Staff was nice but buyer beware! I thought going to a car lot vs a private owner would mean that the vehicle was in good working order. Thought I was getting a great deal. Car looked great, drove great but started having problems within a week of taking it home. Took back for their "shop" to look at a concern and was told "nothing is wrong, it's just road noise from the tires". The problem continues to get worse. Took it elsewhere and got a laundry list of problems. Called about the "warranty", biggest waste of $1500 ever. Nothing is covered so an additional $3000 out of pocket later it is in working order. DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE! Bought a truck - had it less than 2 weeks and drove it less than 100 miles and the motor seized up. The truck had no oil and no dip stick. They came and got the truck had it for 2 weeks before I finally call to get answers. I get the run around until finally the motor shop that was servicing our truck told me it needed a new motor. We purchased a warranty with the truck that covers the motor. Commonwealth Motors has now had our truck for longer than we did - almost a month and still refuses to give me answers on when we will get the vehicle and what is going on with it. When I call the staff is continuously rude and the owner has refused to call us back. I have called the state police and waiting to hear back. I am filing a complaint with DMV and the State Corporation Commission. I have also filed a complaint with BBB. My next call is NBC12 to investigate what is going on with this dealership and how they are taking advantage of families in RVA. I will also be posting all over Facebook and other review websites so that people know not to work with these people. read more

Beware of buying cars from this used car lot. The SUV we purchased was a lemon. Literally after only 3 days, the car started driving funny, day 5 it was not drivable. We got it checked out by a mechanic and found out it has a host of issues (transmission/starter/battery). Their mechanic looked at it but didn't do anything to remedy the situation other than a fluid flush. I would not recommend anyone buy from there, if you do, purchase a warranty. Staff was nice, however, it's not worth the hassle, the money, nor the time, just don't do it. Find another place to shop from. #badbusiness! read more

( other than the key fob not working due to a bad battery) So mind i put everything i had left in my pockets to get this car, the day after i drove it off the lot went to put a CD in and wouldnt you know doesnt work...... so i tell my sales guy n he says oh well thats electronic probably nothing we can do because its not mechanical. So he has the nerve to say, Oh you can just put an after market stereo in it should only cost like $ 200 itll sound better too...um okay well guess what i dont have 200 extra dollars to do that considering i gave you everything I had and you told me nothing was wrong with it....but okay aint to concered about it just radio is fine.So then on the 2nd day of owning it i get the battery i need for the key fob to work right... because its just thats the batterys dead is to why it doesn't lock according to the sales guy. So i go to pull the cover off and it breaks into 4 different pieces so im mad but maybe i can glue it back. So i stick the new battery and the alarm goes off and i tell you not even starting the car turned it off so once it finially stopped on it own 20 minutes later at my place of work i knew i couldnt glue it back to work right and i cant have the alarm sounding off so guess i got no key fob just old fashioned lock your doors. So on the 7th day into owning this car the headlight goes out.. okay no big deal they had no control over a headlight right. So i go to get headlight and its one of those special lights thats gonna be $126 to replace it. Im in shock and thinking to myself you have got to be kidding me i just bought this car to not to have anymore money come out to fix shit! So i had to walk away at the time and ill just have to take my chances with my brights untill i can afford it. At this point ive called back up there decided screw the sales guy i want to speak to the manager. So i told her everything i had dealt with and its was "oh i completely understand, we get things at cost i will certainly look into that for you so you dont get pulled over.. yeah i never heard back..... 16 days into this vehicle i know my tags will expire soon and i need regular plates and registration havent heard anything about my new plates which were purchased in my agreement and at the time of sale. So i go to dmv to turn my previous plates in and take the old vehicle off. And the plates i was turning in from my last car were now registered to the Mazda... i told her no i was charged for new plates from the dealer when i bought this car and she told me well ma'am these plates are registered to your mazda they were transferred..... so now they have over charged me for plates to pocket more money hoping maybe i wont put two and two together, or maybe that ill just let it go and not say anything well NO! I did notice yall pretty much stole from me and i was gonna get what u over charged me back! Called and she tells me "oh yes i will write you a check for the difference just come by when you can and get it" So 32 days into owning this vehicle now the car is bucking and its got an awful rattle when u start it up so i CALL BACK. Bitching that somethings majors wrong now and yall are gonna find out. They schedule for me to bring it in on that saturday and their guy will check it out for me. So i take it leave it for the day go back and this guy tells me theres nothing wrong he didnt feel anything while driving it. I immediately said no ill ride with you there is something wrong and while i rode the buck wasnt acting up and only occured 2 time while he was in the car. Highly recommend looking for cars/trucks somewhere else. Bought a truck from there and within the first year have had to replace altinator, breaks, rotors, tires, and the big one transmission. I recently purchased a used car from them and feel that I was not treated well and wanted to share my experience. I must first state that I realize a used car is just inheriting another' person's problems and that car dealers like this deal in "as is" sales and it is all about the buyer making sure he has the car checked out and does his due diligence to make sure he isn't taking on in the behind. That said, I purchased a low mileage car that was in very good shape both the interior and exterior had obviously been well maintained and there was a fresh inspection sticker on the windshield. I took the car on a test drive and it performed admirably. Having done my research I was aware that there would be the regular maintenance repairs required (timing belt and water pump, oil changes, services etc) The rub comes with a warning light that went on that had obviously been covered up by the "mechanic" (more on him later) using his electronic trouble shooter to reset the code, not fix the problem ( this seems to be common these days) The car went into "limp home mode" and he reset the code which later went back on resulting in a trip to the dealer who diagnosed the code as a faulty neutral safety switch. I ended up calling the dealer back and he agreed to pay for the part, but I was stuck with $200 in labor. So a band aid, not a fix which cost me money the first week. He also tightening of a loose bolt under the seat and I was on my way.(that rears its ugly head later too) That evening I realized that half of the dash light bulbs were blown out and that this had to be a safety issue and called and told them that this was an issue that should be fixed. They agreed to do the repair and I made sure to tell them that they needed to order specific bulbs for me dash which they said they had. Long story short, I bought the car back in to have the bulbs replaced in the dash and the "mechanic" completely ruined the perfect real walnut dash by man handling it and cracking it in multiple places. I called the dealer once I realized the extent of the damage and took pictures and sent them to them ASAP. I use my car every day and did not have time in my schedule to run across town and spend my time and gas money to show them a mistake made by their "mechanic". I called several times to make an appt. to meet with the owner and the mechanic at the same time. Of course, the mechanic denied doing any damage *surprise*. I finally got the owner on the phone and he gave me the typical "anything could have happened between when we supposedly damaged it and this phone call" I knew I wasn't going to get far but he had damaged my car and I kept him on the phone for an hour until he finally agreed to pay for the price of a used wood replacement from a junk yard. i told him to send me a check and I would not be doing business with him anymore. I guess the point of the story is that this type of dealer is "protected" by selling cars with no warranty at a price below dealers who put a 30 day warranty on their inventory. These dealers do very little in the way of making these cars any nicer than when they were purchased or traded in. They make them *just good enough* to pass an inspection which should never be taken as a sign of a *good* car as it is a very basic inspection and tells little about the overall mechanical condition of the car. These dealers rely on the fact that they basically have no legal responsibility once the paperwork is signed and that those who buy from them are in dire straits financially. it is an ongoing nightmare that just will never get better until state or local govt. makes them put warranties on anything they sell and even then it is still a walk on thin ice. In summation, I don't feel this dealer deserves to be selling cars due to his half hearted approach to dealing with his paying customers who have legitimate issues. In this case, his "mechanic" ruined a perfectly good dash and lessened the value of my vehicle as a result. The payment for the part does not cover the time and labor aspect and was not in keeping with good business practices. He ended telling me his mechanic "didn't do interior work" well....umm...then why did you let him touch my car?!?!?!?! Assh*le read more

Commonwealth Motors instructed us to take it to the dealer maybe it would be covered under warranty. Lexus cant even fix the vehicle. The car has a history stored and the issue commonwealth new about it. they don't care, they got the $15,000 cash payment. We purchased a lemon and they knew the car was messed up. The just reset the code when we took it back after having the car for 2 days, they have a 3 day return policy. They said "oh the light came on and nothing was wrong with the car. Purchased a wagon from here. Saw it on autotrader, emailed Tracy (owner) and we negotiated a price even before I came in to see it (which helped me b/c I live far away.) I was surprised that the wagon was in better shape then I anticipated. So far, we love love our purchase, and the price was,um, GREAT. I didn't get any bad feelings from buying from Commonwealth and really enjoyed the folks I talked with (Alex & a mechanic). Do not buy a car from them! I bought a car from them as soon as I drove it off the lot it began to have problems. I went back up there and they promised to fix the problem. When I went up there to get my tags and schedule an appointment to get the problems fixed, he told me the mechanic was going to take a look at my car. He never told me they were going to take my car off the lot. The mechanic was gone with my car for over a hour. While he was gone with my car i sat inside. The whole time people were calling about problems they were having with their cars they had just purchased. Every time they would hang the phone up the employees would begin talking badly about the customer. When the mechanic returned nothing was fixed and he stole money out of my car from my daughter's diaper bag that was zipped up. (If i would have known he was taking my car I would have never left it there but it still gives him no right to steal from me). My father called the owner who apologized and promised to fix everything wrong with the car. Needles to say the mechanic didn't fix anything but caused more problems to the car. read more
