Sparkle Cleaners & Tailoring - We Clean Band Uniforms

    Sparkle Cleaners & Tailoring

Took my new pant suit with tags and once worn blouse on Tues, May 2, 2023 to 'My' Sparkle Cleaners…read morein Lower Burrell, PA in preparation for my grandson's college graduation. Got there after 5pm Friday, May 5, 2023 to pick up my black suit and caramel colored shirt. The pantsuit was in plastic and ready for pick-up, my shirt was not. The young female clerk scrambled but eventually found my shirt. It was a mess. I asked what happened to my shirt (photo attached). It was clear to me that it was not pressed, not sure if it was cleaned. The 'owner' said he could take it to the back and press it. Irked, I asked how long it would take. He said Tuesday! Incredulous, I told him I needed my shirt that day (Friday) because I was taking it out of town the next morning. THEN he said it took him a long time to clean the shirt because "it had blood "down in front of the shirt. I was in disbelief! I had only worn the shirt once to church for about two hours. He repeated the blood was down in front. That's when I saw this man was trying to humiliate me, insinuating there was menstrual blood on my shirt! I caught on and told him that was a lie because I had had a hysterectomy. Sickened and insulted, I told him I was taking my clothes and he needed to deduct the cost of the shirt. He said 'not without paying the full cost of cleaning.' Sadly, I used my debit card, not a charge card that could return my money for the unkempt shirt they were sending me home with. But I refused to be humiliated by this VULGAR man. I left angry. The next day, I searched and found another 'My' Sparkle Cleaner. I called the store and the worker gave me the owner's phone number. I called her to complain but she said she was busy with a customer and she would call right back. After 45 minutes I called her but had to leave a message. I told her about the man who didn't clean and press my shirt and about how he tried to humiliate me by insinuating there was menstrual blood on the shirt. (Btw, wouldn't a dry cleaner clean blood stains HAD THEY ACTUALLY EXISTED?) I left a message telling Stephanie the owner how this employee tried to blame ME for his lousy service and using a vulgar accusation to humiliate me. Stephanie finally called me back from her Fox Chapel 'My' Sparkle Cleaners location within an hour of me leaving to go out of town. She emphatically told me the man I spoke with was her husband! And they would not refund me the $7.10 for a shirt they never cleaned, evidenced by the look of the shirt and the shirt never being placed in a plastic bag. Folks, save yourself the terrible service and this disgusting attempt to be humiliated by STEERING CLEAR of these disreputable, despicable dry cleaners called My Sparkle Cleaners in Lower Burrell and Fox Chapel, PA. PS, the female clerk who initially took my order asked me to pay in advance.

Topaz Thimble - Uneven seams on sleeves

    Topaz Thimble

I was waiting until I won the credit card dispute to submit my review and share my experience with…read moreTopaz Thimble. To any bride considering Topaz Thimble for alterations, I encourage you to read this full review before handing over your gown to Kati. There are many seamstresses who provide better quality work and customer service. I paid Kati $500 to take my wedding dress and create a top that "looked" like what we discussed, but which had serious construction, quality and fit issues. I am now paying another seamstress to remediate all of the work that Kati called her "best work ever". I took my dress to be altered into a peplum style top. At the initial appointment, the dress was put on a mannequin and we discussed the changes to be made. I asked if I should try it on, but Kati stated it wasn't necessary. I thought it was strange that she didn't want to take measurements given we discussed that my wedding was 5 years and 2 kids ago. In hindsight, this was the first red flag. When I arrived for the final fitting, Kati's assistant answered the door and let me know that Kati was finishing up a few things. I waited for about 20 minutes while I could hear the sewing machine frantically whirring in the back. If more time was needed to finish the gown, I would have rather delayed the fitting than rush the work. This was the second red flag. Kati brought out the dress and it appeared as we had discussed. The only time that Kati touched the garment during my fitting was to help me snap and unsnap it. There was no "fitting", "checking" or "fussing" to make sure it was perfect. I paid and left the studio with the top. At home I tried it on again and took a closer look over the whole piece. The sleeves were not staying up because they did not have enough room in the shoulders. The buttons on the sleeve cuffs did not lay nicely as the material was bunching and they were attached unevenly. A seam on the peplum skirt had the horsehair trim raw, jagged and sticking out. Most concerning, the seams and construction throughout were uneven and messy. I emailed Kati regarding this issues and we scheduled a date to come back. My gut however was telling me to get a second opinion. I am not an avid sewer, however I have completed multiple sewing projects, and the quality of work was nothing that I would expect from a professional seamstress. I took the top to a second bridal seamstress with over 25 years of experience. The seamstress identified a plethora of areas where the work was either not completed correctly or was poorly executed. Ultimately she felt it came down to inexperience and rushed work. I feel taken advantage of knowing that Kati let me walk out of her studio with a garment that had blatant craftsmanship issues, and I do wonder how many brides leave Topaz Thimble with poor quality alterations to their gowns. In summary, the following issues were noted: - Seams throughout are messy and incorrectly executed - Sleeves and peplum skirt were incorrectly constructed - Thread color used did not match the rest of the dress - All horsehair seam edges were left raw and unfinished - Appliques were incorrectly connected and causing bunching - Time and effort were not taken to construct proper seams between the sleeve and the strap, as well as between the bodice and the peplum skirt, resulting in bunched and uneven seams. After meeting with the other seamstress, I emailed Kati explaining that I did not feel comfortable returning to Topaz Thimble to have the work corrected. I requested a refund to help cover the cost of the remediation work. In her response, Kati refused to acknowledge the issues identified and refused to provide any type of refund. Kati stated that I was not a sewing expert and stopped responding to any follow up from my side. I submitted a dispute to my credit card company citing "unsatisfactory quality for services rendered" and included all correspondence. After reviewing the case, the bank sided with me and refunded my money. I feel this speaks to the credibility of the review. Overall, when choosing someone to work on one of the most important garments in your life, I recommend you choose someone who has an immense amount of experience and attention to detail. Find someone who will not cut corners, and most importantly, someone who is kind and customer focused. You will not find this with Topaz Thimble.
