Poorly designed. Everyone it rains, water pours off the awning directly onto the deck railing. The deck gets soaked every rain storm. I notified Laurel Awning and they said " you signed off on the design". Really?? Poor designs on their side. Poor customer service. Also, the guy that came out and sold me the awning was never a salesman. He was simply a guy filling in for the salesperson. Do not use Laurel Awning. New awning spring, 2023. Laurel Awning tore fabric during take down, 2023 and claimed they fixed the damage. put up, 2024 spring the awning had pinholes through out and mildew all around overhang. filed hard copy warranty claim via USPS which Vince claimed he didn't receive, emailed the claim which Vince said he couldn't read. USPS mailed another hard copy of warranty claim. I hope Laurel awning doesn't have any more excuses and will replace my faulty awning. Vince even physically viewed the damaged awning, and saw all the pinholes. read more

I am rating Laurel Awning a one star company because it is the lowest rating I can provide. From the outset, Laurel has been an arrogant and unresponsive company. We have had the opportunity to utilize their services twice and each time we have been met with an unresponsive and a devil may care attitude. Our initial exposure to Laurel was for the installation of a retractable awning. We met with the sales person and he did measurements and the pattern for the awning was selected. The salesman indicated that it would take a number of weeks for the material to be ordered and fabrication to be completed. Once completed, we would be contacted for installation. Weeks turned into months with no contact from Laurel. My Wife contacted Laurel and they stated that the canvas we had selected was out of stock and that the would installation would be delayed. We thought it was odd that we had to contact Laurel to discover the delay. Fast forward 18 months and a summer storm damaged the awning. We contacted Laurel to arrange for repairs. Their salesman arrived, spent 5 minutes looking at the damage, no pictures, few questions and left stating he would send an estimate/contract. We were also told that if additional repair items were identified they would be billed as an add-on. A few days later the estimate/contract was received. The document contained no details for the repairs but did specify a gross amount. We requested details on the breakdown between parts, labor and services to be performed. A breakdown was provided for parts and total labor, no specifics on what services were to be performed. The awning was repaired after providing a 50% deposit. Total time spent on repairs was less than two hours. We received a bill for the balance but were surprised that there was no adjustment for the labor since the total time spent was less than 2 hours and they were charging almost $800 for the labor. They also, didn't adjust the bill for undamaged parts that were quoted but did not need replaced. This is were Laurel's arrogance showed up. We began contacting Laurel in July and numerous times in August, September, October and November. We reached out to Laurel well over a half dozen times without a response. Finally, Laurel sent a bill marked past due ignoring our requests to discuss the issue. So after debate between my Wife and I, we decided to remit what we thought was a fair and final payment to Laurel. Again, time went by and Laurel had not cashed our check so we called to verify they had received the check and were told that they often have a delay of up to two months on their mail. We again asked for someone to call us back to discuss. Again, the only sound we received were the crickets chirping. Finally, a week ago my Wife contacted them and we discussed our issues and described to the receptionist our frustrations with trying to deal with the company. I also asked for the general manager to return our call. Finally got a return call after a week and reiterated my concerns about the excessive labor costs and no adjustment for parts that were not replaced. Was told that it was our problem and Laurel sees nothing wrong with charging nearly $400 per labor hour. So, to shorten a long story, I will pay the balance of the invoice and vow to never utilize Laurel Awning again. In the future, if there is a failure with the awning, I will remove it and scrap it before I ever put up with the arrogance and total lack of customer service that I have witnessed from this company. I am writing this as a warning to future potential customers. Please be careful when dealing with this company, they have no concern for you! read more

We have been customers before ...no problem until now. Had front awning / 1 side awning installed . T.H. was the salesman. We discussed at length what we wanted ( striped fiesta awning in front and black awning over the kitchen window to match the other one we have over the side door.) was taking notes. We stressed that we wanted the awning on the side to be black. Awnings were installed April 2022. We were here but had to leave before installation was complete. We came home to find the side awning was wrong. It was striped fiesta instead of black. We notified T.H. It's now August and 6 phone calls later , it is not resolved. The primary issue? Once they were paid, they did not care enough to make it right. T.H failed to admit he did not transfer his notes to the plan. We were told not to worry about checking the blueprint with all of the details. We trusted the plan was clear and would be followed. We asked the salesman to convey (to the CEO or boss or whatever the person in charge calls herself/ himself ) that he had not transferred his notes about the side black awning to the formal plan . He admitted he did not do that and tried to say " maybe we had discussed getting the striped awning on the side to match the front..." BS. He offered a " discount " if we'd get a new striped awning on the side!!! It should be no charge; it should be money refunded Nothing is going to be done. Because they have been paid. We asked to speak to the CEO..the boss and we were later told " He doesn't talk with customers . That's our job" Then do your job and try integrity and concern for your customers when a mistake was made . Your CEO IS A PERSON WHO SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS AND SHOULD REACH OUT. We moved into our home in 2017 and one day an awning appeared on our back deck. Since then we have continued to utilize laurel awning as we were handed the "contract." Every year they would come and put it up and take it down, varying in how early in the season it would get put up. We paid via mail. The past year they came many weeks late to put the awning up, claimed there was a rip and they couldn't hang it. We said we would accept the risk of it ripping more to have it up as they could not guarantee the repair could be done this season. Come early December and I thought well I guess they're running behind on take downs like they did this year on put ups. I call and they inform me they didn't receive our service contract (that they sent to an email we don't even use). We always corresponded by mail with them. We said we would fill out the service contract if they would come and take down the awning. They claim they couldn't for the rest of the year and it would have to remain up. This is despite telling them in the spring we wanted it repaired and cleaned this winter. The woman who answered the phone had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. She was extremely rude and would not listen at all. After telling my wife about this encounter she called back only to be told by the same woman that they actually have NO storage left for any awnings. How does a company take on more clients than they can successfully store/manage? Also, how do you take new clients without keeping space and contact with existing clients. We asked to speak with the supervisor to which she replied he is sick and she has no idea when he will get back to me. Anyways, we were questioning their services prior to this experience given the difficulty of even knowing when the awning would go back up. They are terrible communicators and actually pretty rude. This terrible encounter was a blessing in disguise. We ended up calling another awning service that same day who had an angel of a woman who provided such great customer service. They also had their staff out TWO days later and we already scheduled our put up for next season (they apologized for it being so late due to being new clients and even then it is before laurel had placed our awning the last 2 years). So please, take these reviews to heart and consider looking elsewhere. Much better is out there for the same cost. read more

Laurel Awning does not provide a quality product and they do not take responsibility for their mistakes. Within the first days of having my awning I found small holes in the material in numerous places . They almost looked like burn holes. I tried repeatedly to get ahold of someone to come look at the damage and it took all summer to get a representative out to our home. By the time they arrived and so much time had passed they blamed the damaged on my family. They also said the holes were possibly from cigarettes. I have two small children. No one in my family, nor my friends smoke. It was all extremely insulting. The letter dismissed my damaged as 'owner caused over the three months of ownership' and denied the dated damage pictures I had from the first days it was up. I have never felt so betrayed and taken advantage of. Beware of this disreputable company. read more

I used Laurel Awnings on the recommendation of family who had used them before. I'd say the initial appointment, measuring, choosing fabric and speed in hanging ( in June no less) was very good...after it's hung and I make my final Payment of course)..we get our first rain..and my furniture has puddles on the cushions, area rug and tv are wet ( yes they do warn you that there may be some leakage until the fabric expands?!?!..this is my third as I g from 3 different companies and have NEVER ever had this problem before)...they send out techs to " spray" a brand new awning with a water repellent sealer (ok..so far 80% better) but then after closer inspection I notice it wasn't cut out correctly around the gutter) and when I asked for a longer piece of fabric on the " sunny side" of our deck after the fact they wanted to charge me 2/3 of the cost of the WHOLE awning..insane!! Just sitting here mad that, as many reviewers said, once they have your payment...try to get them to fix their mistakes! I know there's got to be a great awning company out there..next is a roof over the deck!! read more

I had a 24 inch tear at one of the seams in my awning which required me to drive it out to the Apollo location, which was over an hour away. I was told over the phone that I would need to to drop it off for inspection and repair for a few days and then go and pick it up once the repairs were completed. I arrived to drop off my awning for the repair and the folks working there were so great! They were able to make the repair on the spot since I drove so far. I'm sure that they cannot always do this but I was very thankful for their willingness to provide a great customer experience for me. read more

Initially they looked good with installation, etc. Now we have a problem with the awning coming out on its own. A call to the company we were informed a Minimun of $159 plus tax would be charged for them to come out to assess the issue. This after we paid close to $3000 for the original awning installed. This place is sneaky - once they have your awning from the fall takedown they will claim it needs repairs w/o proof and then charge you for them. If you ask for proof or refuse to pay, they will threaten to keep your awning. The repairs seem to be exactly the amount that their contact automatically allows them to do w/o having to notify you first. Also, their contract is worded in such a way that nothing is their fault and if you don't pay what they say they will keep your awning. Take pictures of what your awning looks like before they come to get it and when they put it back up. Also, watch out for their new electronic contract as it fools you in to agreeing to things (like the auto repairs w/o having to notify you first) that trust me you don't want to do cause this place will REALLY take advantage of you. $400 in repair and cleaning charges on top of the $140 x 2 for them to put up and take down your awning each year is what these people will charge you by default - almost $700 a year? Just to maintain an existing awning? That's ridiculous. That is what this place will charge you if you go w/ them. Once I get my awning back from them after paying out of the nose for their sneakiness, I am going to try and find another company to do the take up and put down of my awning from now on. read more

I'm more than happy to wait to get my awning put up, but when they tell you on three separate occasions it will be put up on a certain day and it's not, I start to get annoyed. Once this company puts up the awning, forget about getting any service in case there is a problem. They could care less. I had to prepay $100 just for them to look at the awning where it was leaking and it's been over 2 weeks and they still haven't come out to fix it. I have always been happy with laurel awning til this year. Was told by office that my awning would be up week after Easter. Called again when that didn't happen and then got told that it would be up last week. Well it's now Wednesday May 7 and no awning. Very disappointed that no one can give me an install date. I had to replace awning covers on my 10 year old hardware. Most places I called were willing to make the awning and ship it to me and assured me that it would be easy to do it myself. Having watched several You Tube videos and seeing how long it took 2 strong men to install a small awning, I was certain I didn't want to try a DIY installation on our 25 foot long awning. Laurel Awnings came out promptly to give me an estimate. They offered the complete line of Sunbrella fabric along with a less expensive option. I have been dealing with Laurel Awning for about 4 years. This year, when they put up the awning in the Spring, the front apron was covered with a black substance. It appeared that it was stored on the apron on an extremely dirty floor. Despite repeated calls to the company to clean it, no one remedied the situation. I still have not been able to successfully remove the dirty substance. I placed three calls to the company and they claimed that it was not their fault. I have just had my new awnings installed and I am thrilled. They are gorgeous and the quality on the awnings and the installation is exceptional. Laurel was so easy to work with. The salesman came to my home (within days of requesting an estimate) and I selected from a HUGE variety of colors and styles. He was helpful and knowledgeable. Someone came out to measure (I did not have to be home), then they were installed (I also did not have to be home). Horrible customer service. Inherited an awning when I moved in. $150 to take it down and $200 to store. Then they send a bill without asking to fix repairs. I also got a cleaning. So another $200. Then $150 to put back up. $800 in all and awning was still dirty. I called and left multiple messages and emails and they were very unresponsive. The only thing they offered was a free cleaning in winter time and claimed they are not required to get all the dirt out according to their policy and fine print. We have had Laurel Awning service our awning for 9 years because we "inherited" them from the house's previous owners. My biggest complaint is that they are overpriced. I never knew how much until we started dealing with a different company. Every year there was over $100 in repairs. They also have a minimum charge of $50 to even look your awning over to see if it needs repairs. They put the awning up (very securely...no complaints there) in 15 minutes with 2 people working on it and charge $160. I could understand if you were able to schedule the put-up at your convenience and they may need to travel far out of their way to get to your house, but nope that's an extra charge too ($50!!) Same with week certain take down service. Shop around for better deals!! read more
