This is my first review post, but I feel it necessary to let others know about this WONDERFUL…read moreAwning Company!! We've purchased several awnings for our deck over the past 27 years from other companies and this is our 4th Awning that we purchased from Neilly Canvas Goods Company. The owner, Les Neilly, came out to our home during the peak of his busy season and patiently sat down with us as we looked through several sample books to find the perfect awning for our home. He had more choices than any other awning company we worked with in the past. And Les truly knows his trade!! He listened patiently to what we wanted and guided us on choosing the perfect awning fabric and trim... While he was at our home, he noticed that the pitch of our awning was too flat and it caused our old awning to sag a bit in the middle ~ so he also made the necessary adjustments to the frame which made the new awning pitch and fit perfect!!! (...no other company we've worked with ever mentioned that they could adjust the existing frame the way Les did ~ we were always told we would have to invest in a whole new frame!) Les personally came out to our home several times to measure and make sure the adjustments were done correctly ~ he really takes great pride in his work! We were in a hurry to get the awning installed because we were having a party in our home the following month. It was their busy season and although they were jammed with orders, Les promised he would do his best to meet the deadline. Well, he not only was helping to install our BEAUTIFUL awning ~ he made sure it was installed before our party‼ AND ~ they called us when the season was over to schedule to remove and store our awning for the winter!!! No other awning company we worked with in the past was as thorough and caring as Neilly's... I can't say enough about this company!! If you're looking for an awning company ~ you don't have to look any further!! THIS IS THE ONLY AWNING COMPANY WE WILL EVER USE!!! If you're reading this Les, Thank you ~ it's the BEST Awning we've ever owned!!!

The "service" rep even forges your authorization signature on his iPad. The old owner handed over all customer credit card information to the new owner, so the new owners will charge your credit card even if you don't provide them credit card info and even if you decline to purchase (assuming you've used Thomas Giel in the past). New ownership is a firm called Gridiron Capital / GarageCo from the New York area. Not a Pittsburgh company. Candice Giel kept a small minority of the business, she does not control it. Services

Poorly designed. Everyone it rains, water pours off the awning directly onto the deck railing. The…read moredeck gets soaked every rain storm. I notified Laurel Awning and they said " you signed off on the design". Really?? Poor designs on their side. Poor customer service. Also, the guy that came out and sold me the awning was never a salesman. He was simply a guy filling in for the salesperson. Do not use Laurel Awning. If anything goes wrong, they don't care.

I had four awnings placed by this company. The first awning was a few years ago, and we were very…read morepleased with the product. Richard was prompt, reasonable, and stood behind the product. Since we had such a great experience, we hired them to place 3 additional awnings. I think the additional awnings were more than they could handle. They had several "reps" from ECLIPSE, the awning manufacturing company, come and consult about the patios we wanted to cover. After much deliberation, they moved forward with the instillation. We added rain shields, that drop down for inclement weather to make the patios covered even during rain storms. We NEVER received an owners guide, manual, or any additional information on the awnings. Richard did emphasize that the awnings were guaranteed for life! The largest of the 3 new awnings never worked from day one. It was too large without an infrastructure that would hold it. The material sagged and even with just a misting of rain, would fill with water. They returned several times, they added an additional retracting arm, raised the baseline, and made several adjustments. It never was properly installed. If the awning was out, and a slight breeze came through, it ballooned up and shook the entire awning. It eventually collapsed after a mild rain shower (we didn't realize that it would collapse!). When we contacted Richard, he said there was nothing more he could do. He said that the awnings were not made more any type of rain at all. (even though our other awnings do protect from the rain, and he installed the additional rain shields!!!!!!!). Currently, the awning is tied up to the house, torn with broken mechanics. We have hired another company to help repair the awning. I would NEVER recommend this company. They not only lie to their clients, but they do NOT stand behind their product. Run from this company!!!!!!
