I was especially worried about my cocktail dress as it was taffeta and had plenty of ruching but after they finished it you couldn't even tell that the dress had been altered. The hem looked identical to the original hem only shorter. I will take all of my clothes that need altered to them from now on. For those of you women who are petite like me (5'2) and smaller in size (2) you know how hard it is to find anything that will fit us right off the rack. She voiced repeatedly that the ticket is titled hemming, which I immediately disagreed with. She condescendingly stated that she took measurements and everything to hem the pants, which I disagreed with yet again. I even pleaded for her to look at the camera footage to see that I pointed to my zipper to have fixed that's it. Instead of apologizing for altering my clothes without my permission...she proceeded to talk over me, minimize my complaint, and insist I pay an additional fee for the exact service I want. I refused and asked to speak to a manager/ owner. She informed me that Joe is the owner and will give me a call the next business day which never happened. Forward to today, 8/21/26, I arrived at 12:40p to speak to someone about my pants. Again, I was forced to speak with Kim, who begrudgingly announced that Joe isn't there and will not be there till Monday. Also, failed to inform me by phone any day this week that Joe wanted to speak to me in person to resolve the issue. I inquired why I wasn't called. She talked over me yet again and stated I would still have to pay to get my zipper fixed in addition to the hemming service. Again, I stated that I did not ask for a hem and why am I not being compensated for a service I did not ask for? She brought out this male, who claims to be a manager. He refused to give me his name. I'll provide a description instead. He appears 5'6 "/ 5'7 ". Blue/greenish eyes, blonde/ brown beard. Black wedding band. Black baseball cap He is as rude, apathetic, and egregious as Kim. He refused to listen to anything I had to say. Talked over me. Insisted I pay another $20 for the initial service I inquired about. Basically labelled me as a liar because the women working the front desk don't make mistakes. Because I tried to reason with me plead that the hem be undone. He mentioned a policy that the jeans need to fit before they can undo or complete a service. I asked to see the policy. He declined to provide it. He called me unreasonable and complicated and asked me to leave. I refused. I asked him to look at the camera footage to see the exact gestures I made pointing to the zipper I wanted fixed. He refused and said we don't have audio. At this point I'm enraged. Voice trembling. Appalled at the service I received. I stated that the way I'm being treated is unfair and racist. I will be taking legal action. I strongly implore anyone of color to think long and hard before receiving services from them!

Due to work, I actually completely missed my first 2 appointments and was about 15 minutes late to another one. However, he was so nice about staying later than his usual hours to accommodate my schedule, and he rescheduled my appointments right away! As for the alterations, they were STUNNING! He really thought of every little detail. The wedding dress was a perfect fit, even if he had to alter it a second time because I lost more weight. The last minute alteration was within ONE WEEK! Simply amazing. He also added straps to help the dress hold up better, and he was super helpful about the bustling process. My bridesmaids had to facetime in for the bustling part, and he was VERY patient when they were easily sidetracked. In addition, the alterations were very reasonably priced compared to some other places in Pittsburgh. One place quoted me more than double the price and couldn't even guarantee that my dress would be finished on time! If you're a bride who has found your perfect dress, but it needs some loving to fit your perfectly, definitely come to PGH Sewing! The owner is flexible and excellent at his job. For any rentals, you are much better off going to a local store like Jack Tuxedo up the road.. where the employees are literal experts and the alterations are done timely and well. Now I order multiple sizes online and see which fits before just simply returning the extras from the order from Men's Wearhouse for suit purchases. They have great brands. They have good sales. Just the staff at their stores are not worth it. Granted today, they messed up my new concept by refusing to take my return. No problem - they have free return labels to ship returns too. Soon enough - they should just be fully online to avoid bad reputations based on their store staff.

I've had two large items ruined: a rug and a $400 quilt set. First, I sent in a rug (October 2024) that was odor-free, just needed freshening after a move. It came back smelling like a swampy basement. (I was told they use a 3rd party vendor to clean them, so they weren't technically responsible for the service, just acted as the middle man.) The owner insisted it was just detergent and claimed not to smell anything off. She agreed to reclean it, but the odor remained. The rug was unsalvageable and, being discontinued, impossible to replace--ruining the design of the room. Despite this, I gave them another chance, assuming the issue was with their third-party rug cleaner. This time, I brought in a barely-used winter quilt set to be cleaned before storing it for the season. The place was undergoing renovations, it was sweltering, and the doors were wide open with fans blowing. I was told it might take longer--but surprisingly, it was ready the next day. When I picked it up, the entire package reeked of cat urine, fake floral scent, and body odor. One sham even had a bleach-like fade, though they swore no bleach was used. I contacted them immediately when I got home. Again, I was told it was just detergent. I couldn't even bring the items into the house--the stench was unbearable and multiple family members agreed. I brought it back for recleaning, and the owner, still claiming she couldn't smell anything after putting her nose right into the fabric, supposedly "washed" it again with unscented detergent and deodorizer. It came back even worse--now with a fishy odor added to the mix. I'm now out a $400 quilt set, (on top of the rug that was thrown out in the fall) and all they offered was a refund for the original cleaning. No accountability. Just excuses and an alarming inability to acknowledge clear and overwhelming odor issues. I can't fathom that I'm the only one who has had this problem, but since no one else has shared this issue in a review, I thought I would do so to prevent someone else's misfortune.
