Awesome coffee shop. Great baristas and coffee selections. Only reason it's a for star is cause it can be crowded and hard to find a seat.

Like the coffee, which is mostly Pinewood, but have noticed some things after a year of coming here. Large means more creamer/milk but the same amount of coffee as the small, so save your money and just get the small. Recently, the coffee has tasted watered down, especially if you get any sort of drip coffee mix. Bacon cheddar biscuits are from Milo and can be hit or miss. Sometimes they are great, others they taste stale and firm. I would recommend The Prize Pig from Magnolia bakery over Milo Biscuits at CG. My biggest complaint is the cleanliness. There are old couches that are stuffed into various locations that appear to have not been cleaned, possibly ever. As someone who has spent time in DC and been to some amazing coffee shops with amazing spaces, CG kind of freaks me out a little. It definitely has a hipster grungy feel so if you prefer a clean space to sit and work I would recommend going somewhere else. I tried several times to do work in the shop but the dirtiness got to me. I tend to stick to the drive through. Customer service is good and staff is friendly. The quality of coffee and staff get this a 4 star but I had to take away because of the dirtiness. --Also, get ready to be surrounded by college kids if school is in! read more

If you are looking for an excellent coffee shop with an incredible atmosphere and a wide variety of good tasting coffee then Common Grounds is the place to go. No matter what kind of drink you might be craving, Common Grounds is sure to please. Common Grounds makes their drinks to order- hot, cold, or frozen. A personal favorite of mine is the Iced Caramel Coffee Crunch. It is a delicious blend of caramel coffee with just the right amount of sweetness. At Common Grounds, the service is not only friendly but also personable. While Common Grounds has a variety of qualities that make it great, there is a downside. Lack of seating exposes customers to the elements. If it is a nice day, then sitting outside is not a problem. If it is cold, too warm or raining then it becomes necessary to sit inside. In case of inclement weather, I would suggest going to a local Starbucks to find shelter from the weather. Common Grounds is definitely a must try. read more

Rodeo Clown is absolutely one of the best iced coffee beverages I have ever had! It is well worth the stop and wait anytime I am passing through town. They get by because of of the publicity they got on fixer upper and Baylor students nearby. However there are much better coffee shops downtown. They also get help from the Waco tour group which stops by there since they all are members of Antioch Church read more

A must anytime I am in Waco. The atmosphere is amazing inside and out. Plenty of place to sit and enjoy your coffee. The decor is nice with old furniture and wooden pieces. The little lights strung around outside make it a nice place in the evenings as well. read more

So I'm basically in love with Waco. As one girl posted, I wish I could go back in time and re-do the whole college thing. Especially bc of Common Grounds. It's right across from Baylor University. So I am basically jealous of all the students that attend and have this little gem readily like accessible every day. Anywho. You walk in the front door and immediately notice the unique/eclectic/comfy vibe. You order at the counter. The menu is on a board above and if you have any questions the baristas were great to answer them. I ordered a Caballero bc I had heard their Cowboy coffees are their "thing." And it definitely didn't disappoint. I sat with my hubby on one of the comfy couches. Read a little. People watched. It started to fill up as we sat with students and other out of towners. But the whole atmosphere was great. They have a whole outdoor seating area. One off the side and one right behind. In the area directly behind the shop is where they have concerts. It was so neat. And I again repeat how jealous I am of Baylor U students. I sincerely want to move here so I can enjoy this awesome little shop on a regular basis. read more

I am from Minnesota and was visiting Waco. OMG - the best coffee ever! Here we have Starbucks, Caribou and Cabin Coffee coffee shops but none of them compare with yours. I kept coming back for the No Bull. Would love to have you open a coffee shop here in the Twin Cities. read more

I really like this place's vibe. I live in the far superior city of Austin (you know it's true) but was in Waco to meet up with a friend. This shop is right near Baylor and the decor is pretty awesome. Texas rustic meets typical vintage, hipster, Grandma/San Francisco-furniture cool. However! The prices here are a bit crazy. $3.45 for a bottomless cup of coffee? Plus I tried some coffee drink that has a bit of extra flavor and it cost nearly $5! Prices are high and there are really no food options. But cool place. They even have a large porch/outdoor music stage area. I'll definitely visit again, stick to plain coffee and tell others about a little gem in weird Waco. :) read more

I think common grounds is overrated by many. It's okay here to me in every way.

This coffee shop is a must when in Waco! The Cowboy Coffees are great. I will definitely be going back to get the Heisman Frapp!

Cute little quirky place on Baylor's campus. The coffee was great. I saw this place on Fixer Upper and I was in the area and stopped in. I had the 'no bull'...it was on point. I'll definitely have to stop in again when I'm back in the area. read more

My daughter and I stopped here and I was disappointed... there is not nearly enough parking. The lines are way too long, the staff -or at least the 2 guys that were working the counter are almost patronizing. Unless you're a local Baylor student, in that case you seem to be worth acknowledging kindly. I will never return again. The coffee is nothing special. read more

Can't really comment on the coffee. Came here with my gf. Lots of seating and a nice little hangout for Baylor students. There were some older folk there but the staff all looked like college students and the majority of the patrons also looked the part. There's additional seating out back in a large patio/yard area. Merchandise was a little expensive but prob no more than typical. $20 for a mug. Starbucks is probably similar. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but my gf seemed to like it and the ambiance was okay. read more

Heard about this on Fixer Upper and wanted to check it out when in Waco last week visiting Baylor. We went to Common Grounds on our last day in Waco and that was a mistake -- we should have gone on our first day so we'd have had time to go back! The drinks were great, prices reasonable and the style of the place was really inviting. I felt like they got just the right atmosphere without the appearance of trying, you know what I mean? It had an organic feel as though it all just pulled together effortlessly and, even though I imagine there was a lot of effort, the end result was a really homey feel. If my daughter decides to attend Baylor, I bet she will spend a lot of time here -- as will I whenever I go to visit! (Hint: If I were the owners of Common Grounds I would seriously consider opening a satellite location on the other side of campus. The current location is small and I know they'd be able stay equally busy in a second location!) read more

We enjoyed common grounds! My iced No Bull was fantastic! My son ordered the Black & Blue Cold Brew and really disliked it (threw it out). He generally enjoys cold brew but this was really "off" in his opinion. My husband enjoyed his latte tremendously. We stopped here twice within a couple of days. The second time my son ordered the vanilla latte and declared it one of the best he's ever had (he even bought a t-shirt). read more

This place was crowded, crazy, and worth it! I did not really enjoy the Cowboy Coffee as much as I thought I would (it was okay), but the espresso was the best I have every had! Order the "Nervous Breakdown" (it is 4 shots of espresso, half and half, and the secret sauce); it is the best drink! I wish I lived closer. read more

There are homeless cats that live behind Common Grounds. There is a group that has neutered them and take care of them. The owner threatened to kill the cats if they weren't taken away. The following week 3 of the cats were dead. What an awful human being! read more

When I arrived, parking was a nightmare. It was very busy once I'd gotten inside and one of the cash registers stopped working, so the line was very long. The staff was very friendly--only reason I give the place two stars and not one. There was almost no seating available. I eventually found a chair closest to the bar so I'd know if my drink and water cup were ready. I waited 40 minutes in the seat, and still no sign of my name nor my drinks. However, the wait was full of excitement as we teamed up to kill the bee that was buzzing around our heads with a shoe. Eventually I went up and asked; they couldn't find my cup anywhere, so they made me the drink. I didn't receive the water. The hot drink I received was supposed to be "Mocha Mint Madness," but as I neared the bottom of the cup (in good faith the flavor would turn up) I realized it wasn't going to be anything more than steamed milk and a watered down shot of espresso. No sign of chocolate nor mint, even once I'd reached the bottom. I couldn't really concentrate on homework--not only due to the noisy buzz of people, but also the vibration of the couch I was sitting on, the floor underneath my feet, the walls, and my eardrums, as someone thought it'd be a great idea to turn up the bass for the outside speakers. If you are looking for a peaceful place to study, this is not it. If you're looking for good coffee, don't start with the Mocha Mint Madness. If you're looking for somewhere you'll feel welcomed by the staff, this could be it, but they may make you wait as long as I had to to receive half of what you asked for. The one-way streets connected to the "parking lot" in the back are a joke. Some unfortunately don't obey the signs, and those that do may find their one-way paths obstructed by someone walking up and placing a traffic cone in the middle of your way, JUST as you're about to exit the establishment in your car. I don't think my 12 ounces of milk and coffee were worth the four dollars and twenty cents I paid, nor was the wait/ambience/study space/parking experience. read more

A coffee shop should provide the right combination of comfortable ambiance, wide range of menu items, and the convenience that satisfies the customers' needs. Though it may get crowded, Common Grounds is definitely the place to order a cup of coffee because of its bohemian but intimate furnishings, varied choices that hold a rich flavor, and a location convenient to campus. The baristas greeted me as I first stepped into the cozy environment, made me feel welcomed. There is a good amount of outdoor, as well as indoor, seating. The backyard has additional seating with outdoor furniture and an open stage area for performers to play on open mic nights. Along with their everyday menu, they have a seasonal menu that always have seasonal favorites. The Pumpkin Patch is a must have! The strange names of the drink add to the character of Common Grounds' image. No other coffee shop measures up to Common Grounds' uniqueness and creativity. For those unable to visit regularly, the shop sells the same coffee beans for use at home. In addition to coffee, they also sell pastries, bagels, and desserts. Convenience in location, long hours of operation, good study environment, and an excellent place for entertainment, all make this the perfect hangout for college students. I am a student at Baylor and it's only a minute walk from where I live. The study environment is great for students who can work with background noise. Students can be seen with their computers or reading their books. This shop is also an excellent place to hang out and hold meetings. Common Grounds is always having special events or functions during the week. It may be a concert in the backyard or open mic night for aspiring artists. After hearing about the popularity of the coffee shop among Baylor students, my first time left me wanting more. Common Grounds' unique environment creates a high quality coffee experience. Common Grounds is more than a place to have a mere cup of coffee; it is an experience for the customer to enjoy. This is a fun place to get a little pick me up. The building itself is great and then the Cowboy coffee is a ride. When staying in town or just going through, stop and get a cup. Right next to Baylor campus. I will go back after they get the homemade ice cream shop opened next door! read more
