French dip
Aliya S.

A nice casual restaurant that has a regular sit down diner side and a bar on the other side. The menu has a great range of food options and even some unique dishes to try. I had a French dip sandwich with tater tots. It was a bit on the salty side, but overall tasted really good. The bread and butter for the appetizer was delicious and so was their dill pickle flatbread. The server was really nice and had great suggestions for new visitors like us.

We've enjoyed everything we've tried here. This Friday was an even better surprise. I ordered the potato skins because I wasn't too hungry, expecting some small frozen bar food version. Nope!! These were huge, homemade and delicious! Had extra for lunch Saturday

We decided to give this place another try. We were only here once and remember the food not being great. They have very limited vegetarian options, but we decided to try a few new things today. The salad was fresh and tasted really good. The flatbread pizza wasn't really anything spectacular Probably wouldn't order that again. Wish they had a vegetarian burger option but they don't. The Thai cauliflower was the best for our meal today. This is worth a try if you like this type of thing. We may or may not be back again. The staff was extremely attentive and very personal. It had a typical bar ambience. Give them a go if you are a meat eater, I'm sure it's fine food.

5 stars all the way! No joke, I've waited awhile before posting this review. Wanted to be completely honest and transparent. After eating here multiple times, with my wife, friends and our family, I can absolutely stand by a no bullshit 5 star rating. Commercial House is leaps and bounds above what previously resided in the historic downtown Richmond building they now have settled into. They have truly made a name for them selves! I will post the dishes we've ordered, drinks we've had, but I tell, the pictures do no justice! Commercial House has set new standards in dining across the board. Owned by a local family, you feel something different when you enter the old building, love. From the staff to every bite of food. The staff. Every single time I've been to Commercial House we've been met with smiles and good attitudes. Never had to wait more that a minute for drinks and the food comes out promptly, beautiful and hot! Their dedication to service is really something great, so absolutely show them their worth when you visit with a sound tip! The Food. Where do I start? I've had a good deal of items on the menu, from the ribs, to the salmon salad, clam chowder (which is a tough one after spending 7 years in New England) chicken and dumpling soup, the burgers, the drinks!! All of it!! What stands out to me is 2 things. 1) quality of ingredients. Every dish is beaming with flavor! The fact they use fresh ingredients is extremely prevalent, and for the prices (which are pretty standard) you are getting quality meals high above the "standard". 2) consistency. Every time I've ordered the delicious dishes they offer come out exactly as delicious as the time before. 100% hats off the the kitchen staff, the pride in their work could not be more American! They prepare the dishes with extreme attention to detail! Their skills and dedication are obvious in their dishes. But listen. This is my review! I'm a fan, obviously. The only way for YOU to know if I'm full of it or not is to go in, eat, and decide. Then, try it again, and again. My guess is you will feel much like I did! Hopefully I can get a few more good reviewers to test my review and add on what they think! So hats off to Commercial House owners and staff for giving a truly great dining experience!! We appreciate you and will most definitely be back often!

Chicken salad

French onion soup

After reading the reviews on Yelp this became a must try. It did not disappoint. Everything was amazing. Started with the deep fried cauliflower and calamari. Both so good. The ribs are the best I've ever had. It has a dry rub and a sauce. It gave it a slight crunch on the outside and so tender inside. The perch was also great. The prices for the quality of food is great

When we arrived, we were sat up stairs by choice about 5 minutes of waiting... their hostess stand is kind of blocked by a wall so if they're not at the stand, it's a little weird. Our server was incredibly friendly and answered any questions that we had. It was our first time there and one of the schools were having a formal dance so was tons of kids in suites and homecoming dresses. It was nice to get to see them all below . Our waitress came back a couple of times to see if we were ready, We had probably had been there for about 20 mins and weren't in a hurry. It was a leisure kind of day and there were plenty of available tables so we weren't holding up other diners. The fresh bread and butter and my side salad were honestly the best part of the meal. We did order the candied bacon and although it tasted fine, it was on the softer side, needing another couple of minutes in the oven. We both ended up going with the chicken fajitas. Our waitress ended coming back out to us to check on us and kept saying it shouldn't be much longer. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes to come out. We get that, it happens. Unfortunately though, the chicken was so dry we could barelly eat it. It was so "brown" it almost looked like some of it was breaded and not grilled. So our meal was very lack luster, we didn't take the leftovers home. We each had one taco and was done at that point. Again, the waitress and her service were spot.

Soon as you walk in, you feel like you were transported to a tropical island in the Caribbean. Most of the seafood items consist of lobster, shrimp and mahi. But they also offer burgers, various chicken dishes, and tropical drinks. I was not expecting to like the restaurant this much, but they are a hidden gem. The lobster roll I got came with pineapple coleslaw for $24, which is a pretty good deal for lobster roll. I also asked to have it with a side of chips, which was a good idea as it gave my meal more texture since the lobster rolls are very soft, but delicious nonetheless due to the fact they use Hawaiian rolls for the sandwich bread. I finished my meal with a slice of key lime pie, which was also excellent. The staff here are also very polite and do their best to make sure you are satisfied. 100% worth a visit even if you don't live close to them (no matter what time of year)

After looking at different caterers, we chose Pizza Replicator to cater the party of 85. We were having trouble working with the venue to allow the caterer to find a place to cook the pizzas. Max contacted the venue and worked out all the details. On the day of the event, he and his staff arrived promptly and started with the appetizers which were outstanding. Once he transitioned to pizza, the pizzas were continuously replaced until everyone had eaten. Everyone raved about the food. We couldn't be happier about hiring Max and his team and couldn't recommend him enough.

In New York, slices are for folding and eating while on the go, because... well... I guess that's what capitalism does to you. Pizza Replicator is replicating none of these pizzas. Nope. It's just a Star Trek TNG inspired pizza concept where Max Sussman gets to have a little bit of fun with seasonal ingredients, dough, and some portable pizza ovens. Personally, I love to support pizza innovation. Max's pizza is about as good as it can be considering it's cooked up in the back of a coffee shop on any given Sunday. More than anything, I want Max to get a permanent home here in A2 with a legit Neapolitan oven where he can really get some better color on the bottoms of those pies. I've had a few of these so far. Italian sausage with pepperoncini, provolone, and broccoli rabe. Brussels and guanciale with aged gouda, fresh mozzarella, and garlic. Soujouk and Za'atar with onion and green zhug. Asparagus and gruyere with meyer lemon, caramelized onion, and pine nuts. Spanish Chorizo, manchego, roasted peppers. My favorite one to date was the meyer lemon. Dang, that was deliciously unexpected! But those crispy nuggets of guanciale were dynamite too! Ultimately, these are designed to be take out pies, and I'm just not a take out pizza kinda guy. Because I believe pizza is best when it's fresh hot now, I grab my pie, b-line to my parked car, and eat the pizza in the driver's seat like a savage beast. Even when I have shown up early for my scheduled pizza pick up, I have had little luck in getting super hot pies with crisp edges and well colored bottoms. Recently I learned that one can request the pizza "well done" and I am looking forward to giving that a try. But I love the culinary creativity and I am happy to keep trying Max's new pies when my Sunday schedule lines up with available pizza slots. One has to keep an eye on the Pizza Replicator Instagram page and move quickly, because these things sell out. I have gotten over my FOMO, and am happy to simply sample these pizzas when the stars align. Which, you know, is why I'm comfortable to share this with the Yelp Community. Max's efforts are hardly a secret as they were just recently covered in the food press. But yet there is no listing on Yelp?

It was such a nice vibe inside. Hate when nice restaurants have TVs tho. (They have a 15 minute grace period btw) Our waiter, Jordaee, was awesome! He was so attentive to what we needed and took our orders quickly. He did a great job explaining the menu. Now the food -- so so good!!!! The spicy edamame has this sauce that's so good!! The blue fin roll was so so good & the king ora! GET THE GARLIC NOODLES & YAKI UDON! Get it! Don't skip! (Get the tenderloin in the yaki We were all having a great time. Here's my only qualm: We were there for a birthday and we paid for the dessert..... I totally thought it would be comped or something. We would have skipped the cake if we knew tbh. That was our only skip of the meal. Also, the manager or owner (idk) his name is Mo! He was so kind! Came to us when he saw we were done eating because he thought we didn't like the food. The experience opened with the ube tacos, which I can only describe as a delightful and unexpected introduction. They set the tone beautifully: playful, vibrant, and full of personality. The kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite and think, okay... we might be in for something special here. Then came the jalapeño hamachi, which -- and I say this with a heavy heart -- didn't quite rise to the occasion. It wasn't bad, but it felt... quiet. Like a conversation that had potential but never quite found its voice. I was expecting a spark, a kick, a memorable moment, but instead, it passed by politely without leaving much of an impression. It was okay, and I enjoyed tasting this roll. But just when I began to wonder where the night would ultimately land, the Ora King salmon arrived, and with it, redemption. This dish was, quite simply, fantastic. A clean, refreshing punch of flavor that felt perfectly suited for a warm spring day. The salmon didn't just sit on the plate - it shined. Light yet satisfying, delicate yet confident. It was the kind of dish that reminds you why you go out to eat in the first place. Overall, Zuzu delivered an experience that felt intentional, creative, and worth exploring. A perfect place to celebrate an anniversary with my Love. Not every note hit perfectly, but when it did, it sang. And to close the night on the highest of notes, a special shoutout to our waitress, Que B, whose service was nothing short of exceptional. Attentive, caring, and effortlessly warm; the kind of presence that turns a great meal into a memorable experience. Would I return? Absolutely. Because any place that can serve a moment like that salmon and pair it with service like that is a place worth revisiting.
