OLIVIA...My dear sweet guardian angel…read more.. Thanks for making Chewbacca and Mr. Wiggles' first trial day a success. You are truly a saint. I cannot thank you enough for being so incredibly compassionate, attentive, and gentle with them. Your genuine character speaks volumes about your humanitarianism -- it shines through in the way you care, connect, and give of yourself so selflessly. You brought peace of mind to my "yiddle" pups/boys and me, which means more than words can say. Sincerely, Patricia Bettis-Eddie (Patte)

So I brought my dog Cody here for boarding twice after he already had very extensive training, he…read morewas already trained in pinch collar and shock collar. I wanted to bring him here because he has a history of behavioral issues and everything online says this place works with and has experience with these dogs. He was being aggressive towards one of the workers. I'm not condoning my dog's behavior and they did give him a second chance. But the first day I also walked in the guy that works there was yelling at my dog to stop while my dog was frantically yelping and the guy was trying to clip his nails. The second day, we were shown a video of his behavior and it was definitely atypical for my dog at this stage and way more aggressive than we've seen from him in a long time. BUT the guy was walking past the crate feeding him treats while he was acting that way - which is basically reinforcing that behavior (so we were taught with his prior training), instead of correcting him with the shock collar - which is what is supposed to be used for. I'm not saying this place doesn't have nice personnel, they were very accommodating despite My dog's issues and I can't blame them for not wanting their staff to get hurt. However, my issue is with all of the advertising about "working with dogs with behavioral issues" - they certainly did not handle my dog well when he was acting this way and therefore that experience they claim did not seem to be true in my case.

I may be biased, but I absolutely adore TPDT. Anthony, Andrea, Paige and Jess are top tier trainers…read more- they all take a patient approach, explain things in great detail, and truly care about the relationship between you and your dog. I have personally used the boarding for my whole crew over a holiday, and daycare numerous times and my dogs love it. I cannot recommend TPDT enough. If you are in Cleveland (or even remotely in the area) they are the best when it comes to training, pack walks, daycare, and boarding.

Our dog Maisy is a 4 year old Papillon. We looked into training because of her reactivity to other…read moredogs and we wanted to eventually be able to go on walks with her without her having a meltdown. With her age, we knew training would not be a perfect fix and we just wanted to get to a manageable spot. We found Turning Point Dog Training through a Google search and reached out. Within a day or two (I think it was same day), we got a response from Andrea, one of their dog trainers. Andrea was very accommodating with scheduling as my partner and I both work full time. When we first met with her - we immediately felt comfortable. One thing that I noticed and really appreciated right off is that we were not rushed through an appointment. Andrea took her time with us and we even ended up staying over time. She easily could have said "oh times up" or "I have another appointment". But this showed me that they would take time with our dog. We ended up selecting a 3 week board and train as that is what we felt fit out life best at the moment. Again - we went in with expectations that Maisy may never be perfect, but we wanted manageable. We met up with Andrea for her midway session and then again for a public outing at 3pm in a local park (I never thought I would take Maisy to a busy park with lots of dogs at 3pm), and we were absolutely blown away. It was a night and day difference! Maisy was walking near dogs and not having a full freak out and was able to remain calm. We did have to correct some minor behaviors - but she's still learning and so are we! Those behaviors we corrected though were nothing like anything she did in the past that felt unmanageable. We get Maisy back today from our 3 week board and train and we can't wait to see how it goes integrating what she has learned and what we have learned into our everyday life. I will post another review after a couple of weeks and/or months for an update. But so far, we have had such a great and meaningful experience! Other things we enjoyed: They send daily photo updates so you are never left without seeing your pup! They also have around the clock care and have eyes on your dog almost all the time if not all the time. Maisy was in such good hands.

The number one guy Jay is the smooth talker...sounded great and I wanted to believe. Fortunately,…read morehis number two wasn't all the smart. Couldn't keep the story straight. They said they didn't board other dogs, but then they accidentally emailed me a boarding contract. Oops. They said my dog would be trained 24/7, but then I learned she would be in a cage in a car driving around to other clients and might be used as a distraction dog for training other dogs. Oops. They said they would use a training collar and showed me a chain. They I learned they would use a shock collar for off leash training when I wasn't there. Oops. Oops oops oops one thing after another and finally when the numbers just didn't add up and I read about shock collars and rescue pit bulls I realized this was not for us and our little puppy. She is sweet and we are training her with positive reinforcement. All good.

Sadly they had done zero research and showed up with an insistence to use a choker chain. I know when used properly they can be a good training aid, however with a greyhounds sensitive neck it did not seem necessary. Our male greyhound bared his teeth at the trainer which he said was normal. That was our free lesson. On my own I had both of our hounds able to sit, down and stay using just our martingale collar and a little patience within one week. Please be certain they have learned about your breed before buying a package.
