The dedication to the world of comic books and all things fun and nerdy by the owners of this store is unparalleled. As of this writing, this store has just been opened and is working on building up their clientele and comic book back stock but there is nothing that the good folks at Comic Hero U will not be willing to try and get their hands on for you and sell to you for a fair price. The store is clean, well laid out with any easy going staff and is just getting it's start in what is sure to be a great future. Comic Hero U is the best comic shop in Southern California. I used to yelp local comic shops whenever I was traveling around for work and I found a couple that were worth the stop but nothing comes close to Comic Hero U. I came here two years ago for some first prints and never left. I don't bother going anywhere else because this place always has the best selection (Plus, he doesn't overcharge like some of the other couple shops in the area...). It's located right next to the train station in downtown Fullerton in a cool storefront next to the tracks. It's kinda cool hearing the train roll by when browsing the back bins. There's even an arcade in the back with some pinball machines and a few other games that I can't get close to the top score on. I go in every week to be greeted by the owner, Enrique, who always makes the effort to welcome all of his customers. If you have a PULL LIST, you get a nice little discount that helps make room for more books each week. He always gets the latest DC & Marvel stuff as well as the Image, Dark Horse, Valiant, etc... books. Whatever is hot, he's got. One time i wanted to order a TPB of some indy press title and sure enough, Enrique put it in my pull box the next week. This place is clean and organized with all the cool prints and posters hanging on the wall. If you're into comics or looking to get into comics, these guys are always willing to share what's good and what's hot. I've never felt like i was being up-sold here and the experts really do know their stuff. Along with comics and an arcade, Comic Hero U has some gaming stuff: D&D, Dicemasters, Heroclix, Magic and I think some other stuff that I don't know too much about. They also stock a few pop culture action figures and toys for purchase as well. This place really is the best and a definite recommend for anyone to just pop by and check it out. P.S. A life saver I called to ask what their selection was on Batman items for a friends gift and they were kind to name comics, and every other item from new to vintage that related to Batman. Showed up a few minutes later and the women that picked up helped me by showing me the collection super awesome customer service. Comic Hero U is amazing! The owner and workers are friendly and know what they are talking about, It is inside the old Santa Fe train Depot, and they have a full arcade! Also, for all those beef Jerky fans, OC Jerky is there for your meat fix! Comics + Jerky + Arcades/Pinballs + Train Station = Crazy Awesome!!! This place will go far. I have seen other comic stores, and had great experiences at them, but this one was a bit odd. I walked in to this fresh new store, only 3 weeks old. I had heard of the soft opening with the deloreon, and had to check out the shop. The owner was sitting in side reading some comics and welcomed me. I said hi and started to browse. He looked very familiar to me, then I realized I've seen him perform at the Maverick Theater. I told him I have seen him perform, and he was super nice. It was really cool to see him running this shop. So we had a chat about why he opened it, how it got started, and what he wanted to do with it, and man I can't wait until he has his grand opening. An arcade, performance area, awesome membership benefits and more. His next investment is the store sign. Because the shop is brand new he is getting that installed very soon, so I didn't dock a star for being a tad hard to find from the street. (If it helps he is located next to Roma furniture.) This guy just has a vision and I can't wait to see what happens. Even though he has a very minimal selection right now as he is just getting going, I did pick up a few "The Amazing Spider-Man" comics. I will definitely be back next week to pick up some more. I can't wait for the grand opening, it will be amazing. Going to bring a bunch of my friends, because this place is just too rad! read more

--Rant--- I brought in a few books to submit to CGC a few months back. These books were all in NM+, near perfect condition. I just got them back from CGC today...only 2 came back as 9.8, the rest came back at 9.6, 9.4, 9.2, one even came back at 8.5. I looked closer at the books inside the slabs and they were damaged. Mangled on the left top cover corner. Damage wasn't present when first dropped off. I felt CHU was responsible for the handling of my books going to CGC, so I contacted them to express my concerns. Enrique understood those concerns and offered to pay to press and regrade for the books sub 9.8. Class and style right there! This shop not only values its customers, it values the relationships built within the comic collecting community. Cool shop with a sleek little arcade in the back room! Only 4 stars though as their back stock of Walking Dead isn't very much... ---Overall--- Service: A. Offering to take care of pressing and regrading. Atmosphere: A. I wish I would have read some of the other reviews before ever coming to this guys bedroom/store. This place gets the "If I could give it 0 I would." I called just to get a tournament time and the owner couldn't tell me anything about their tournament that started shortly. He seemed bothered that I called instead of going online. He sounded so annoyed, and was eager to let me know that he was the manager when I wanted to speak to someone else. You can tell someone loves their job. Stay away if you like good customer service. This guy does not like business. Oh, but if you like playing on the floor this is the place for you. This guy literally had people playing on the disgusting floor. It's so tiny and has so little space. It also smells disgusting. They didn't have one deodorizer or fragrance to eat up any of the awful odor. He uses an dirty old couch that look like he got from the Salvation Army for seating. Talk about cutting corners. I would never step near this place again even if you paid me. read more

One of the most organized comic shops I've ever been in! All comics looked immaculate, and it's nice and clean. I had probably stopped by several other shops in the area, and none were more catalogued and in order than this one. NONE! **They're moving to the train station in Downtown Fullerton starting May 1st though.** Shop owner seems pretty nice. Greeted me when I came in to the shop, asked if I was looking for anything (though I barely caught what he was saying....SPEAK AUDIBLY), and a kind farewell on my way out. Wouldn't of hurt him to look a little more tentative....oh well. Let's blame the hot day, shall we? Regardless, I'm glad there is a clean, and in order, quality comic shop here in the OC. TRAIN COMMUTERS DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TRAP!!! The mildly ethnic guy with the jew fro needs to get fired or change his attitude; if he is the owner, the store is Victor Von. My gf and I walked in with her mother while waiting for my train to arrive. She tried to open the inferior jerky bag and jew fro guy tells her not to open it sideways. I am constantly asking my gf to open my meat treats because she is constantly eating them. After her mother spoke up for her; jew fro continued with his rant about opening it sideways. I was tempted to turn the jerky table sideways to prove a point. The selection of jerky was too meager to make a lasting impression. I was looking for a graphic novel to purchase but the fanboys standing around breathing heavily and staring at my gf made me extremely uncomfortable; I felt rushed to browse. The arcade was so dark I was afraid one of the fanboys would slip a jerky stained finger somewhere on/in me where it was unwelcome. Stay out of the arcade no matter how much nostalgia is blaring from within. I take the train every weekend to see my gf...this store will be crossed off my list. read more

I'm shopping around for a new comic book store to start a pull lust because my LCS is closing. Thought I'd try out places near my work so I ventured into Comic Hero U on new comic day. The good: Super clean and organized with a great selection of new comics. Shelves are nice and flat so the books are in great shape. The guy who rang me up (owner?) was quiet but not rude. Free bags and boards! The bad: The store is small, but a large portion is devoted to empty tables for games or whatever. While I was browsing the new comics, there was a group of loud guys dropping f bombs about video games. I'm not a prude, but for all they know I could have been a priest. A little too much nerd testosterone was in the room. The darkened arcade looks creepy and I never wish to enter it. Verdict: Great place to check for hard to find new issues, but I won't be hanging out there anytime soon. read more

Comics+arcade+trains= Awesomeness. Nice little place but good selection, clean and well maintained. The arcade part is dark and dank but don't take me wrong, arcades should be dark and dank. My son and I usually get our arcade on, buy some comics and go sit outside and read as fright trains rumble past you a mere 20 ft away!!!!!!! grab yourself a beverage and some nourishment at the cafe and you have yourself an awesome time. read more

The store in itself is not that big and it seems that they cater to variant covers. I came in today to purchase the new DC Rebirth comic and they only had one issue left. I didn't pick it up because they marked it up $2.00. I have never seen anyone mark up a comic $2.00 since it was the last book. They had two variant covers, one for $49.99 and the other for $79.99 of the comic. No thanks - I walked out empty handed on a Wednesday (comic book day) and will never go back. I really wanted to like this place since I see it everyday on my way home from work. Gave it an extra star since the owner was not rude. read more

I'm not a big comic book person (I brought my little cousin) but I must say this place is great! Everything is super organized, and they even have a bunch of $1 bins alphabetically organized, making it easy to look through. Also, I had my share of fun playing Galaga for only a quarter! Prices are really fair. Good collection of comic books. Has arcades in the back that you can play which is awesome. They also have Weekly raffle prizes is a great way to show customers appreciation. Will definitely return to this comic book store. read more

I was looking for a smaller series of comics and I knew this place since they're always on my school's campus. So I thought hell yea I'll show some support! I called before I made the drive and I got the shortest, rudest response. But I brushed it off and wanted to know if they had all eight issues. After getting off the bus today, I saw a banner that stated "COMICS". I've never seen this place before, so I'm assuming its fairly new to the area. I walked in, saw a pretty good selection of comic books, then heard a sound that brought me back to my childhood. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade theme song, coming from somewhere in the back of the store. I made my way over there and saw a hand written sign that said ARCADE with an arrow pointing to the left. I'm not going to lie; my heart rate rose and I might have gotten a half boner. As I walked into the back room, this is the glorious sight that first met me. That's right, pinball machines. Turning around, I see original Asteroids. None of that pussy joystick bullshit. They also have Ninja Turtles, and about 6 other gems. Ranging from an older machine (not pictured) that sadly wasn't in working order or wasn't turned on) to a mind boggling star trek machine that i pumped about 4 dollars into and was barely learning the complexity of this machine. Classic arcade games are hard to come by, and getting harder every day. If you love comics, and love classic arcade games, this is your place. I will be a frequent visitor. It;s a local business which makes me even happier to spend my hard earned dollars here. read more

It's hard to find a comic book store thats clean, affordable and has helpful friendly people working there and this has all of it! What really impressed me is the how nice the owner was. A friend and I enjoyed a few games of pinball in the arcade. This place is inside the train station building -- at the east end, was originally the freight loading area. They have 4 pinball machines -- 2 are 50¢ a game and 2 are $1 a game. The room is a bit stuffy and it was just 2 of us -- I imagine it could get pretty warm with several people inside. This is a fun place and nice diversion if your train is delayed! read more

I moved to the OC about two years ago; to Fullerton to be exact, and I was in search for a good comic store. So, I googled not yelped, googled "Comic stores in the area" and nothing came up. The nearest one to me was a shop in Brea. Of course I didn't know the area and eventually found Brea. The shop was good you know comics every where, toys, and all kinds of stuff. It was a normal comic shop. So I happened to drive down Commonwealth and took a wrong turn. Didn't know where I was I parked and walked around to see if I could get some kind of help. I walked towards the train station and I stumbled across this shop. There was no banner at the time just posters on the door and a neon sign that read "open". I walked in and was AMAZED! It was a COMIC SHOP! I was immediately greeted by the shop owner (In which I found out later) and he told me "relax, explore, and have a great time". Everything was organized and in boxes. I knew where to go and where to find them because he had signs to indicate whether it was old or new comics. It was HOME. I immediately lost the reason why I was there. I bought more than 10 comic books that day and always went back ever since. The place is just...incredible. One if the COOLEST things about this spot, is that the owner is ALWAYS playing old school tv shows and cartoons on the tv! I sometimes just sit there and watch tv. Like I said INCREDIBLE! Oh and you cannot forget the ARCADES!!! Yep! Real arcades! Every time I step inside this shop, it just takes me back when life was simple and fun. THANK YOU COMIC HERO! read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Brought 2 comic book on-line and received a refund with a comment: "I no longer have the Silver Age Superman Unchained issue available. I am sorry for not having the website updated with the proper issues. Here's a refund in full." If you have a website and you are not outdated it just seriously mean you are not doing business. So I've visited almost all the comic shops south/s.east of the 105 fwy down to Orange County. Here's my rundown on my visit... Fullerton is pretty lucky, having so many cmic book shops in a pretty small radius. Comic Hero University is a neat shop. I first went to the old location, my maps app still had them at the strip mall (very frustrating). Finally found them at the train depot in downtown Fullerton. From the outside it doesn't look like much. When you make it inside, it definitely appears that they are still in the move-in phase. Their new books are displayed well. They have a great selection of these. All the new popular titles are represented. They appear to carry a decent amount of each title, enough not to sell out too quickly. They have some bins in the middle of the store that carries their back issues. The bins carry mostly their recent issues that weren't sold. They don't appear to carry too many golden/silver or early modern age books. I like that they have a section in their bins for variants and special issues it makes it easier to find. They have a glass display that has some key older issues, but they are definitely trying to build their collection. There's also quite a few on display behind the counter displayed similarly like their newer issues, the only this is... they're behind the counter. I really hate it when stores due this, especially with the amount of issues that are on display. When it comes to merchandise, there's a decent amount. A few toys and other comic related merchandise. The store area could use some help, there's a lot of room not being used and they could definitely expand certain areas. With that in mind.... let me now discuss their back room. Comic University has their own arcade. Now this is pretty cool. Old school games that are a lot of fun to play. What I love though is the amount of pinball games, a great selection to choose from. The staff seemed friendly and willing to help. Greeted me as I entered the store. They have a website that appears to be updated semi-regularly. They are also on Facebook and post often. They don't appear to have had too many events lately. The store has a lot of potential and I hope that they continue to use this great location to grow and prosper. If I lived locally I would frequent it more than I should, I love classic arcade games. With comics, and if I were 12 I would be here every single day after school. Hey, they even have a Zoltar machine. I just my get my wish. read more

Definitely a rad shop with a sweet location. Mostly currents with good a selection of modern aged back issues A-Z. Also a great variant selection. Got a few books along with getting a free Superman comic that he also bagged/boarded. And with the change from your comics don't forget to play some awesome arcade games while snacking on the beef jerky they have for sale. read more

Visited the store on their opening day and was treated to a visit from an awesome DeLorean fully equipped with flux capacitor! I definitely geeked out! The store is great and the staff are really fun and friendly. I had not purchased a comic book since I was in the 8th grade, I'm guessing??? I'm in my late-40's now and am addicted to The Walking Dead (on AMC) and the wife is a show addict in addition to being a TWD comic reader, as well. I got tired of hearing about the comics this, the comics that... Since my travels take me through Fullerton Station, I googled the store and saw many STELLAR Yelp reviews! I walked right in and Enrique pointed me in the right direction (which for me was the Compendiums.) I'm now hooked on the comics. And I have found my go-to comic book store, as well. I've haven't been seriously collecting comics for a few years but I saw this shops huge COMIC banner and checked it out and the least I can say is I am now collecting again. The guy working was super friendly and caught me up on what was going on in the DC and Marvel worlds and also set aside an awesome Joker picture for me! You gotta check this place out! read more

This is the best comic book store ever. Enrique, the proprietor, is always helpful and full of suggestion when you aren't sure what you want. Friendly, courteous, and inviting, the Comic Hero University is the only store I go to for my comics. In recent weeks, Enrique has even allowed me to run a weekly comedy open mic out of his store every Wednesday night at 8:30. This really is the place to be for comics. read more
