After dumping my last eye doctor of two years, who thought they'd take it upon themselves to schedule my yearly appointment and then expect me to be there at said date (uh, no?), I was pretty desperate for a new eye doctor. Out of contacts and wearing very sad, broken glasses, I dug around online and found Comfort Vision. Angel's sang, and my sight was restored, Hallelujah!! Well, it was on its way to being restored anyway - I emailed them through their website and requested an appointment. They promptly emailed me back, and the date was set - simple as that! The location was easy to find, parking was no problem, and the office was inviting and clean. Lovely! The exam was excellent. Dr. Nguyen was very thorough, extremely friendly, and very quick, and the office staff was helpful and personable. They were even willing to order frames for me that they don't normally carry, which I greatly appreciated (I'm incredibly picky). There were a few tiny bumps in my experience - I received an email confirming an appointment for a different date than my follow up appointment, but that was easily fixed, and I thought the frames and lenses were a bit more expensive than they should be, but to their credit, they do include a 1-2 yr warranty on frames and lenses, so I chalked it up to that. All in all, it was a great experience, and I'll be going back, as long as they don't send me wonky notices that they've taken it upon themselves to schedule me an appointment. This is my first review on Yelp, but Dr. Nguyen was that good I had to do it! Please bear with me. :) My roomie and I were looking for a new optometrist around the same time, so we both decided to check out Comfort Vision. Luckily, we were able to snatch the last two spots of a busy Saturday with back to back appointments. We showed up about 30 minutes late, and I thought that we would have to either 1. wait or 2. reschedule our appointments. However, the receptionists were so kind and accommodating about it; they didn't make a big deal about it at all. Now about the actual exam - I have to admit, I'm a terrible contact user. I'm guilty of not switching them out enough and falling asleep with them all the time. But all these years, I thought that I was invincible and it didn't matter. Dr. Nguyen was the first doctor that actually cared enough about the health of my eyes to reprimand me and actually show me through photos and helped me actually understand that I need to be more diligent with contact care. I came back with multiple sets of contacts to try out as well as different types of contact solution. Overall awesome experience, will definitely be coming back for my annual checkups. read more

I've been looking for a good eye doctor ever since I moved to Washington for school and finally I think I found an office that I really like. I came here for a regular eye check up and was very satisfied with the level of service I got. Everyone in the office was very friendly and most importantly attentive. Dr. Steve Nguyen did a great job listening to my concerns about constantly staring at the computer at work and gave me a few helpful suggestions regarding the type of contacts I use. I have also been meaning to change the lenses on my glasses since the current ones were way below my prescription so I asked about my options and the staff at the office was very helpful in explaining different lens features. I was happy that it didn't take very long for me to reunite with my frames in less then a week. Oh and one more thing that really impressed me, it's kind of small but comes in very handy - they gave me a laminated card with my exam info (strength in both eyes, etc). You can definitely tell that Comfort Vision makes an effort to accommodate their patients. read more

Yesterday, I literally saw how disappointment turned to regret and then anger. My friend was notified her glasses were ready for pick-up last week so she arranged to leave work early to pick them up and we drove 30 minutes to do so only to find them closed at 3 pm when they are normally open until 6 pm. My friend was outside the door and there were people inside so she called and was told to just come back another day because they decided to close at 3 pm. No reason given. My friend asked to have someone just hand her her glasses since she's already there but was turned down. This was the first time my friend had ventured out of Costco optical services after having used them for so many years because her daughter convinced her to try this one. Suffice it to say that the poor display of customer service by this business completely cured my friend never to venture out of Costco optical ever again. I hope these people realize that their very poor customer service leaves a ripple effect among their customers. My friend ended up blaming her daughter for convincing her to try this business and now they are no longer talking. Great job, you guys! Not only did you leave a very bad impression but managed to destroy relationship among family in one go. read more

I was recommended this office by both of my siblings who got their glasses done here and I have to say I had a great experience myself! Everyone from the front to the doctors in the back were very friendly, courteous, and extremely professional. Dr. Sea was very easy to talk to, she never made it feel awkward, and she really took the time to listen and understand you. Sarah in the front was a great personality and she helped me pick my frames which I absolutely love. They told me that my glasses should be there within 5-10 business days and it came right at 5 so I was very happy with that. I'm one of those people who gets really nervous going to the dentist and optometrist because I never go nearly enough and I'm always afraid they will find a million things wrong with my eyes and teeth. The staff was really friendly and definitely did not pass judgement on my unwaivering disregard for the health of my eyes *phew*. They helped me find professional-looking, not too expensive, pair of frames. The eye exam was painless and the doctor was personable and friendly. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! As a mother of 4 elementary school age children, getting them all in for appointments & finding an office staff that would be patient with 4 impatient children, has been nearly impossible to find! Until them! We have been patients for a couple years now. This means we have experienced just about every scenerio! Mom needing glasses AND contacts, 11 yr old daughter getting her first pair of contacts (they were VERY helpful teaching her how to care for them!), 10 yr old son beating up 2 pairs of glasses during football season (both of which they fixed under warranty with no issues at all), a 7 yr old needing glasses that was soooo picky about what she wanted & a disappointed 5 year old because she didnt need any glasses but all of her siblings "got to get em"! The staff here always impress me with how friendly, professional & patient they are! We will see you guys in the summer for our next round of craziness! :-) read more

Came here for the first time 2 months ago and my experience at first was great. The assistant that did my pre-exam intake was very nice. The place was very clean and they had technology I did not see at my previous eye doctor. I had my visit with Dr. Tam and I felt like she was rushing and extremely dismissive of my symptoms. She told me my dizziness I experienced was not optometry related and said I was indecisive about the correct lenses while she was doing my exam. First off, she switched between the lenses really fast, literally going from lens 1 to 2 in .001 of a second (like I said she was rushing), and it takes my eyes some time to adjust so I had to ask her to switch back to the previous lens. I also felt as though I wasn't able to ask questions because the responses I received were very short and almost demeaning. I am not coming back here, I don't appreciate how dismissive Dr. Tam was and also, how I felt like I wasn't able to ask questions without getting an annoyed response. I thought I posted this review awhile ago but I am not sure why it didn't make it on yelp, so I am reposting this as I am very upset about my experience. read more

Really glad to see that they did not rush thru the exam and patiently explained all my questions. Did not end up buying new glasses there but the staff was also great with their recommendations. Not only did the other stores not help my decision, they didn't carry what I was looking for. Each employee at Comfort Vision were so nice and sweet. One of my eyes is... let's say not up to par with my 20/20 left eye. And, so I decided I needed checkup. I asked a few friends for places to go and I ended up here. Their telephone is not automated... Score! It's in Bothell which is quite a drive for me, but well worth my time on the way to Canada. Comfort Vision has really neat equipment, things that that I have never seen at other places, such as the machine with a red balloon. Yes, you definitely have to try the machine with the red balloon and then try telling me that you weren't blown away. My eye exam was very thorough, and they didn't try to rush me out the door. Go figure because I am a question kid sometimes. The only thing though, my glasses are kind of loose on my face, but that was my bad since I had to grab it with a quick fitting to run to a dinner date. They do welcome readjustments so I guess it's time to go back! read more

I don't regularly go to the optomitrist. Usually only whens my glasses break (and they haven't for a very long time). So I went into Comfort Vision looking for a new pair. I had come to the right place. There was a fantastic selection of glasses at all price levels. What I appreciated most was that the staff in there were honest and took time to help me pick the right pair of glasses. There was nothing pushy about it. They were sensitive to other customers as well as they came in. They greeted the other customers, helped them out, but always came back to check in on me as well. I prefer this type of service because I feel like I have some freedom to look around on my own instead of something standing there watching my every move. In addition to picking an awesome pair of glasses, Dr. Nguyen actually fixed my old pair of glasses as well (FREE OF CHARGE!!). I thought they were goners, but now have 2 pairs of glasses. It is fantastic to have a back-up pair. I did not get an eye exam from Dr. Nguyen and the team as I have a family member who is also an optomitrist and did my eye exam, but i certainly trust that the team does a first-rate job at that as well. read more

My husband and I are at the age where we finally needed glasses. The staff at comfort vision helped us find a style and prescription that was just right. My husband loved his pair and went to Costco to save a little money for a second pair to keep at work. He gave Costco the prescription from comfort vision but he didn't like the glasses from Costco and returned them and went back to Comfort vision. The staff was very helpful. I have suffered from dry eyes and had asked several doctors about it. At Comfort vision they gave me some diagnosis and advice and helped enough that I don't need eye drops anymore. read more

I have appointments with both doctors and found them to be efficient and friendly. They take the time to ensure I have the right prescription and answer any questions I have. It's a nice shop with a good selection of frames (especially scored during a trunk show!) No hassle when I choose to get a frame elsewhere. Dr. C is great here, but unfortunately she has a supporting staff that is not so much. I have been a patient of Comfort Vision for almost 5 years now. Every time I make my appointment I ask the front desk staff if everything seems good with my insurance or if I should expect any out of pocket costs. I began doing this because the FIRST visit I was billed after being told it was covered. Today I had my eye exam and wasn't told until I walked in the door that I would be required to pay $65 JUST TO OBTAIN MY RX. This does not include the photo of the back of your eye they ask you to pay $45 for (which I did not do this time.) I decided against purchasing anything from Comfort Vision after my experience today, along with my collective overall experience. Also, realizing the eyewear industry is a complete rip-off (see below) The billing lady tried to re-explain to me the reason why they are charging up front the cost of the RX. Even siting that she did write off previous charges, as if she had done me a favor. The entire reason they "wrote the charges off" was DUE to their front staff NOT communicating with their billing department and/or Opthamologists about the charges that would be incurred. It is not *my* problem if they have poorly trained front staff answering their phone lines and giving out INCORRECT information. Unfortunately, this has not changed in the numerous years I have been a customer of comfort vision. Great opthamologists are difficult to find and unfortunately Dr. C works behind a terrible supporting staff, who communicates poorly with the customer and clientele. The customer should never be made to feel they are in the wrong for questioning a charge. Numerous times I have been told over the phone before my yearly eye exam that I would not need to worry about any extra charge and every single time I have received an additional charge. Today they collected it up front, citing that this is how they will proceed with eye exams from now on. However, when I called they did not make any mention of this "up front payment" even when I asked about the exam coverage, knowing that EVERY single visit something unexpected needs to be charged. I am absolutely stunned that Comfort Vision has managed to retain any client base with the type of communication they are dishing out by phone. How hard is it to find office staff that can offer correct information? Clearly, it's complicated enough to have problems for almost 5 years with misquoting. I'd be interested to know how many people don't leave reviews that also have poor experiences. As a help to others and Additionally, if you just do a quick google or youtube search you can look in to the 60 minutes expose about Luxottica that Lesley Stahl did. You will uncover the reason behind why eye frames cost what they do. One company rules all those "fancy brand name frames" they advertise to you in most Opthamology offices and you can expect a 500% markup on frames alone. So when you walk out paying $400-700+ for frames and lenses THIS is why. It's a 64 billion (BILLION) a year industry and yet the people who are most impacted by the "fashion eyewear" industry are those that did not ask to have a vision problem. Most shoppers know they can get eyewear online, simply by obtaining your prescription. But some do not. I would suggest anyone choosing to continue to use such a poorly run business, like Comfort Vision, consider requesting their prescription AND pupillary distance (you have to ask, they don't just hand your PD out because they know you'll order elsewhere) and shop online. There are tons of reputable companies that will provide you with nice frames/lenses and even send you different styles to try out and they have wonderful return policies if you're unhappy. Save yourself some money and quit supporting the monopolization of the eyewear industry. Lastly, other members of my family have had issues with the frames they purchased there. Requiring multiple visits for adjustments due to crooked frames/ill-fit. Even returning 4 times to get the frames properly fitted. So if you're concerned that purchasing your eyewear elsewhere would mean you didn't have a proper fitment, think again, because the staff here can't even fit the frames they are selling. After all the cash you spend, you're still getting poor service. I would have rated Comfort Vision 1-star or No stars, but I do think their Opthamologists are pretty good, in my 30 years of experience with Opthamology. I hope that they take serious consideration about the diservice their billing and front office stafff are doing and potentially look at the benefits of worker retraining or hiring better quality staff, so that more clients do not leave dissatisfied. My employer changed insurance companies and I stumbled upon this eye care clinic... Very nice staff, and the Optometrist is friendly and knowledgeable. From the outside it looks like any other strip mall, but inside, the clinic is quite nice and up-to-date. Lots of frame options. They are not open everyday so be sure to call to see if they are open... and they are located right next to the Rock Pizza. I'd definitely would recommend this eye clinic to anyone. read more

This businesses is money hungry!! Every time I order contacts they try to make me pay before I even get the product. I told them I will pay when I pick them up. Please note my account I will not pay until I received the product. Contact companies send bills to offices and I would expect the same courtesy for me. Also they only write contact prescriptions for a year. I have worked for an eye dr before and most prescriptions are for 2 years. It would be fine if they wouldn't try to charge you again for a contact lens fitting when you're already a current patient. Every message that's left for me letting me know that my contacts is picked up says and you owe such and such amount. It should be more about the customer service and experience rather than the money. I understand cash flow is very important I run a dental office myself. read more

When I went there to pick out new frames I tried on everything in sight and eventually described what I was looking for and ended up choosing the pair the staff member recommended. Dr. Steven Nguyen has been my optometrist for a few years now and I must say I have never had a less than excellent experience with him or any other member of the staff. Recently, I had appointments to update my prescription for my glasses as well as getting an exam for first-time contact lenses. Both appointments were nothing but smooth; furthermore, everyone was friendly and welcoming, as always. Dr. Nguyen provides thorough explanations while answering any questions clearly and with professionalism. Felicia and Sara definitely went the extra mile! Felicia was patient with me and made sure I was comfortable with and understood everything surrounding insertion, care, etc. of my new contacts. I took my son here when he was hit in the eye with a sharp plastic toy. From looking at his eye, I noticed a little bit of blood on his eyeball and was not sure if it required an ER visit. I called Dr. Nguyen and shortly after brought my son in to see him. I found the doctor to be calm and friendly which made my son almost forget he had injured his eye. He had him laughing and sitting still to be checked in no time. My husband has been seeing Dr. Nguyen for his exams and glasses for years and now it looks like my kids will be seeing him as well.
