I stayed at The Quality Inn while in the area visiting Pokagon State Park. I decided to look…read moreelsewhere than the State Park Inn for something more affordable. I was pleasantly surprised. The quality inn was very clean and taken care of. There were not many people that stayed at the hotel the night we were there, so it was quiet for the most part. They have an excellent workout room that offered a treadmill, elliptical, weight bench as well as several dumbbells ranging up to 50 pounds. I would say the pictures I viewed online were very comparable. It was very convenient to have breakfast already set up in the morning for us to enjoy. It was like most hotel breakfast, however the attendant, who made the food and kept up the area was extremely friendly in fact, all the staff were friendly. We had forgotten a beloved stuffed animal and I called the hotel to make sure it was there. They still had the item and it was returned after having checked out several hours. The only slight downfall was we noticed some possible algae on the bottom of the pool. Very minimal. But I did notice the day we left. They had somebody they are working on the pool. They also served coffee, tea, and hot chocolate even throughout the day which was an added bonus.

The historic rioms are adorable but the beds are small and not meant for 2 adults well. I loved…read morebeing able to open the windows old school style and hear the birds and feel the morning breeze. The pool was great but the one hot tub was always packed with kids and has a six person limit so tough to enjoy with such a large resort. The docks are managed by the DNR so first come first serve, but if staying at the inn, you can park your watercraft's overnight. The buffet on Saturday was really bad and the service okay but it was a buffet. They ran out of food with over an hour left and didn't refill part of it. You can't order from the menu on Saturday either, only their buffet and it was $18.99 and overpriced for what you got. You also have to pay just to get to the in through the park which was another $15 for out of state visitors.

We have been to this Inn many times over the years and decided to celebrate our 25th wedding…read moreanniversary for one night in a Patio Suite. We arrived early, but we were told that the room was not ready. This was a Tuesday and the Inn seemed to be mostly empty. We tried again at 4:00, which is the stated check-in time. Still not ready. We watched as several people came and checked in with no issues ahead of us. Finally, we were able to check in at 4:30. We had pre-ordered a bottle of white wine for our room to celebrate, however, by the time we got into the room, all the ice had melted and the wine was warm. The rooms are so old with dirty carpeting and dusty furniture. The bedroom TV is streaming only and the Wi-fi is not good at all, so it was useless. We used to have a lot of fun in the arcade, however, it has been completely changed and is an absolute joke. Half of the machines were unplugged or not working and they no longer take quarters. We walked around some of the park and found the trails to be completely overgrown in a lot of areas. We went to the dining room around 7:00pm. They were completely understaffed to the point that someone who usually works in the kitchen turned out to be the only server, busser and host....she was doing everything by herself. When we ordered a 2 glasses of wine with dinner, we were told there wasn't anyone old enough to pour alcohol! Are you kidding!?! I would like to say one positive thing. The server, I believe her name was Gabby, was the only employee in the entire Inn that was pleasant and did as good of a job as she possibly could have. Our history and relationship with the Potawatomi Inn may have come to an end....sadly.

The staff is extra friendly and we really enjoyed the accommodations James ( who we happened to meet on Friday night) got ice for us. The ice machine on the third floor was broken so he ran down to the bar and brought us ice! This was so nice and considerate! We also appreciated Kandi at the coffee bar. She was so helpful and had a line of customers and yet still kept her composure and was super friendly! The hotel room was super clean and the beds were so comfortable! The only reason that I didn't give this place another star is, 1) I would have like a bath mat in the shower. ( I'm getting old ) and 2) the carpet in the halls on the third floor need some updating. Actually the place in general could use a little facelift. We loved sitting outside at night looking at the moon reflecting off the lake. The staff here (even at the restaurant ) we're all so nice! I will come back again next visit through this area

They were playing indoors tonight, as they have in the past. Tonight they were told to leave because someone complained they were too loud. Hello, it's a live band, so it's going to be loud. And Oakwood knew that because they have hired this band to play here many times before. By the way, the sound was fine. We will see the band elsewhere. They're all over the local area!! We don't have to pay high prices for just ok food. By the way, our server (Taylor R) was excellent!! Will not return (without this band).
