The TownePlace Suites in Conroe had none of that of course! It would be weird if I left a 4-star review if they did! TownePlace Suites was super clean. Almost as it was a brand-new facility. If it is a brand-new place, then it makes sense. If it is not brand-new then the staff does a great job. The studio room has a full-sized fridge, a couple of stovetop burners, microwave, Keurig, and a dishwasher. The room is laid out great with a desk for working. The place is perfect for an extended stay. I am not big on fan on the usual hotel chain breakfast, but I love it when they have bananas and a lot don't it seems anymore. I grabbed a banana and a muffin for my drive. I wasn't expecting much but this muffin was some sort of lemon berry with a lemon curd in the middle. It was delicious! I almost turned around so I could get another. Definetly would stay at again!

The staff were courteous and friendly, and our room had an ample supply of towels, silverware, and dishes. I also love the room having a Keurig, and my Louisiana-raised self really appreciated the Walk-Ons being within walking distance. We stayed in a studio suite, which was perfect for the two of us, but if we had a child with us, it would be a tight fit. If more than two are in a room, a one-bedroom suite (or two bedroom) would have plenty of space for everyone. I'll also note the hotel was extremely quiet, despite its close proximity to 45. There are a ton of shopping places in the area, including a TJ Maxx on the other side of the freeway. If we need to stay in the area again, we'll definitely be back!

However, some of that is just gilding. The best way to describe it is to harken you back to the second apartment you got after college. Not that awful one you signed up for, not knowing any better, where you came to accept the conditions like Stockholm syndrome and eventually name the rats in your walls. But this renovated hotel is more like the one after that. Where they at least gave it a fresh coat of paint before move it and the carpet was changed. Overall the place was very clean, albeit with small rooms and lacking amenities. However, it was the cheapest in Conroe, so understandable. If you are only sleeping in the room and not planning to hang out or be with family there, book it. The staff had it ups and down. Friendly over night folks, but they were in the midst of training day time people and each had an attitude. It was especially annoying to have to get new room cards on 4 occasions. Overall, 3 is somewhat generous, but still above a 2 star joint.

The woman who checked us in was friendly and helpful, too. Cons: -no microwave - no fridge - no coffeemaker - only bar hand soap provided - small, scratchy towels -scratchy sheets -weird outlet placement - we specified non smoking and definitely got a room that had been smoked in, although it had a nonsmoking symbol on the door. This is the main reason I'm leaving a lower amount of stars. Gross. We bought febreeze but our mattress even smells like it. I will not be coming back to this Motel 6. Possibly never any Motel 6 again. $50 a night is budget friendly but we have to go out to eat as there is no fridge or microwave, so we end up spending more money. I guess if you're really into dry cereal & pb&j sandwiches, you could make it work.

Very first interaction was of the manager trying to threaten a working dog clearly trying to find a proper place to relieve itself. No "dog stations" parking lot floods with trash & is unmonitored so there's constant speeding. Dog will definitely return dirtier than they went out to potty, if not with a police escort. Rooms are dated despite the pretty pictures, nothing about this place is a "good deal" which is probably why they have 2 motels connecting.

Not that our room was terrible, it wasn't like the other Fairfield Inns I've stayed at previously. Google said this hotel was built in 2010 and it shows some wear and tear for sure. Check-in went ok. The girl at the desk wasn't overly friendly but that's ok. Our room was ok. Smaller than other Fairfields. Decor was "meh". Beds were comfy though. Shower was poor: pink mold on shower head, wall that the shower head was on was cracked in half and they slapped some caulk on it. Bathroom door was closed upon entering and when we opened it, we were overwhelmed with the smell of bleach. Mini fridge, microwave and small coffee maker in the room. Breakfast was good. "Egg McMuffins" sandwiches were a nice surprise. Other items included: scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, oatmeal, muffins, yogurt, cereal, etc. Coffee was good as well. We swam in the outdoor pool. It's a touch on the small side but that didn't bother us because we were the only ones there. Outdoor furniture was old. When we were checking out, they began testing the fire alarm, which was alarming for sure. No heads up with that. No employee checking us out either. Just left our keys on the desk. All in all, it was a decent stay.
