This is a very clean hotel with excellent service. It's also in a good location. The only negative is that if you want to go left when leaving the parking lot, you need to make a right and go 1.2 miles to make a u-turn. I look at it this way though: A little extra time for music and time alone in your car. Overall, highly recommended.

This is a clean and comfortable hotel nestled in the scenic Appalachian mountains. The hotel staff was welcoming and extremely helpful. The maintenance man even offered to help us with our bags! I was impressed that the heated pool has a handicapped chair lift. All the blankets and shower curtain are the type that can be washed between guests. The only thing that kept it from getting a 5 star rating was the limited selections on the breakfast. However, it is a small hotel, and a breakfast was provided. If you are visiting this area, this seems to be a good safe, comfortable choice.

It would've been nice to at least have clean sheets. Hell even a bed that was made would be great.

Stayed here one night while passing through. What a lovely experience!…read more As soon as I made the reservation, I had welcome texts from the owners highlighting the area and my stay. They are not staffed 24/7 but they are very prompt with responding to text messages if you have any questions. I stayed in the Kennedy Cottage which was its own private small space away from the main building. The room was lovely and it was nice to have the privacy and not worry about shared walls. They prepared a wonderful hot breakfast in the morning with fruit and a tartin- kind of an open-faced sandwich. My only complaint is the parking is very awkward, especially if you don't have a compact car, but they have made the most of the landscape.

Stumbled on this gem a few months ago and have tried to be here every month since. From the baby grand in the foyer to the comfortable wrap-around front porch, every detail has been thought of for a memorable stay. A bespoke breakfast experience takes place in the toile -covered sunroom with some of the best coffee and homemade yogurt I've ever had. I've stayed in the Martha Washington room a few times because it has everything I need--the perfect mattress, a view overlooking the garden, giant soaking tub, complimentary water and a balcony for my (first) morning coffee. Honestly, meeting Gary and Kitt gave me the definition of southern hospitality. Kitt took care to ask about my dietary needs and adjusted her breakfast menu accordingly. Not only do I strongly recommend at Least one night here, I'm concerned that they'll be too booked up for me to get back in.

The cabins are all new and build on site. They are all well maintained and very accommodating. The entire resort is clean, quite, and relaxing. You have you privacy when you want it. All the cabins and RV site face the Bluestone River. So when you have ridden all day you can sit back on your picnic table by the fire and relax. While we were there there were three Owls were around us and that morning while sitting outside three deer just walked out of the woods across the river less than 50 yards from us. They just sat there drinking water and eating from the river bank. It was so peaceful. Now.... for me... The best characteristic of this ATV resort is Donna's cooking. Its all fresh prepared home made meals. The breakfast was great.... The hamburgers were great.... But the suppers...... No matter how far away we rode during the day we made SURE we were back in time for supper. Meatloaf and mash potato's on one night, and the next night was roast with cornbread. When we first arrived they had everything in order and it took less than five minutes to get checked in. Their cabins have key less entry systems so you don't have to worry about keeping up with room keys. The shower NEVER ran out of hot water. Kerig in the room with free coffee and coffee in the store. They have a gas pump on site and the prices were the same or close the regular gas station price. They even gave us their contact numbers and assured us that if we had trouble on the trails they would come help any way they could. From now on.... anytime I ride the Hatfield and McCoy trails I will stay at The Mud Pit ATV Resort.

No parking at the house for truck trailer. Does have parking across the street but was unable to park there the first few nights because it was a free fall and everyone parked how they wanted and left no room for a 30' trailer to get in there. I swear everyone and I mean even dump trucks did 55+ plus around that corner. Once in side my anxiety calmed a bit. Seemed to be a decent place. As we settled in that's when we started to notice more. WiFi would not reach the back of the house. Might seem minimal but there is zero service. Don't wear white socks inside. Instantly become brown socks. Was told it had on demand water. Well hot water with a party of 8 was definitely a challenge. The front door seemed to be kicked in a dozen times or so, so the electric lock was an issue. After a few days we were given a key. Owner was very nice and as helpful as she could be. We don't leave bad reviews. We had fun and that's all that mattered. Well about 10 days after returning home 2 people from 2 different homes came down with ring worm. Yes! Ring worm. Now this changes everything. Shit location, dirty, no phone service, shit WiFi in the back of the house, lack of hot water, now ring worm! Then the owner leaves a bad review for my wife on air b&b. We didn't leave her a bad review. We just wanted her to know and some of our money back. Which she agreed to. Yet leaves us a negative review but says nothing in her review about 2 people from 2 different homes contracting ring worm. Funny. Bottom line this place is a dump. We were there a week and found so many nicer places literally down the road.
