Stayed here one night while passing through. What a lovely experience! As soon as I made the reservation, I had welcome texts from the owners highlighting the area and my stay. They are not staffed 24/7 but they are very prompt with responding to text messages if you have any questions. I stayed in the Kennedy Cottage which was its own private small space away from the main building. The room was lovely and it was nice to have the privacy and not worry about shared walls. They prepared a wonderful hot breakfast in the morning with fruit and a tartin- kind of an open-faced sandwich. My only complaint is the parking is very awkward, especially if you don't have a compact car, but they have made the most of the landscape. read more

Just like home--if you have a full staff, a penchant for antiques, Oriental rugs, and quirky metal sculpture. Stumbled on this gem a few months ago and have tried to be here every month since. From the baby grand in the foyer to the comfortable wrap-around front porch, every detail has been thought of for a memorable stay. A bespoke breakfast experience takes place in the toile -covered sunroom with some of the best coffee and homemade yogurt I've ever had. I've stayed in the Martha Washington room a few times because it has everything I need--the perfect mattress, a view overlooking the garden, giant soaking tub, complimentary water and a balcony for my (first) morning coffee. Honestly, meeting Gary and Kitt gave me the definition of southern hospitality. Kitt took care to ask about my dietary needs and adjusted her breakfast menu accordingly. Not only do I strongly recommend at Least one night here, I'm concerned that they'll be too booked up for me to get back in. read more

We stayed one night at the Bluefield Inn, and it was a delightful experience. The owners have lovingly restored an early 20th century home. It is a lovely place filled with art and period decor. We stayed in the Rhett butler which was super cool, it had an "oversized tub" which I think was just a bit wider and longer than most. My girlfriend and I were just able to fit comfy in there! If you want a truly oversized tub, go for the Martha Washington, that one is properly suited for 2. Food was great and the hosts were amazing! read more

I've stayed at the Bluefield Inn a few times. I thought it was very clean, the rooms were interesting, and it was relaxing to sit in the lobby, or outside. The way the inn is situated, it is shady under the large porch and always a nice breeze. The innkeepers are very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend this inn over any other . read more

I cannot say enough about the Bluefield Inn. I was there for work which included a four night stay. From when I checked in and throughout my stay, the staff were excellent and the owners, who are on site, were friendly, personable, knowledgeable of the area, and overall just lovely people. The Inn was so charming, with many original features, and decorated well. The many outside areas were clean and comfortable. My room was great! just the right size, with ensuite bath, both very clean, and the bed was comfortable with upscale bedding. We recently stayed at this bed-and-breakfast for three nights. Upon arrival we did not have any hand soap, and after calling, I was asked to wait until the following morning to get the soap. That was not a problem. However, when stepping up into the bathroom, I could Completely hear and understand the conversation from the guests in the room next to us. Later in the evening, I heard the same guest say how surprised she was that she was able to completely hear our conversations. Quote. "Richard , it's a hoot I can hear their entire conversation " We had to sleep with our head at the foot of the bed, for the head of the bed was lower than the bottom of the bed. The continual barking of the dog outside helped to ensure that we were not going to get much sleep. We moved to a different room for our last nights stay. Unfortunately we could not get the TV to turn on and the bathroom was so incredibly small, that I had to lay my cosmetics/toiletries on the bed and walk back and forth as I was getting ready. My daughter has a disability and having to climb into the bathroom was a true challenge. The kicker was on the last day, for while showering the water went completely cold! It took moments to get the water adjusted again so I ended up with blasts of very hot water!! This only happened twice during my shower, so I'm thankful for that! Prior to this trip I had never stayed in a bed and breakfast. Although pretty and decorated nicely, I need more space to place my personal items and a more comfortable bed and a higher level of privacy. I'm not much on writing reviews, however the prior reviews were so positive that I was comfortable making my reservations and I feel it only fair to share my experience. I did not complain to management about anything other than needing the soap on the first night. It was obvious there would be no need to complain about the issues I was experiencing. We did not eat breakfast any of the 3 days because after the restless nights we couldn't be ready in time for the small window of time that it's served. read more

The Bluefield Inn was such a wonderful experience! Owners Kitt and Preston welcomed us with a beautiful stay. The bed and breakfast is decorated elegantly with a dining room, lounge room, seating area, breakfast room, and a beautiful stairway that leads up to the guest bedrooms. Each room is named after historical figures such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Rhett Butler, etc. and it decorated according to each figure. The beds were extremely comfortable! Kitt and Preston had taken our orders for breakfast before we went to bed and had it prepared for us in the morning! They have two sweet little dogs that kept us company while visiting as well! I came for the ambiance but I will be back for the breakfast. You can see the pictures of the rooms online but you can not taste the most amazing breakfast! Started with fresh cantaloupe with a homemade elderberry honey base. Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries and REAL whipped cream. Simply to die for! This was all after a pampered sleep with the fluffiest pillows ever! Kitt is amazing. She is not only the best hostess but a chef par none. Very nice 5star B&B and very friendly staff. Kitt &Gary and Preston and Rebecca are all the nicest people we have met in a long time. the house is absolutely stunning and the area is quiet. The driveway is steep here so be prepared when pulling in. They have wine, beer and other alcohol on premise which made it easy for us to come and relax then to worry about getting beverages which was nice to know. we ordered dinner from a local place called Portabella's had it delivered and Kitt offered us utensils and dishes. Basically when you stay here you can use what ever you need they welcomed us as if we were all family. We were in town having our Harley Serviced and a big thank you to Rebecca for giving us a lift over to get the bike. if you have never stayed here before you must experience it!! you will not be disappointed! the Gourmet breakfast with fresh fruits and juices and fresh coffee and organic blueberry flapjacks were the bomb! My wife and I and our two friends Beth and Mark came to the bluefield inn to stay the fourth of july weekend. We were welcomed by Preston who was our host for the weekend. We wished we could have met Kitt and Gary the owners but they must have been gone on vacation too, but Preston was the perfect hose. He prepared the breakfasts each morning and they were very delicious and shared some information about the area and gave us some good places to eat while we were there.The house is stunning the rooms we each decorated very attractively and the sheets and bed were comfortable and elegant. Each room was named after a historical figure. They have wine and beer on premises as well as a pool table room. Coordinated my brothers wedding at this beautiful space. Kit and her team are exceptional and the space is absolutely beautiful. The entire house has a comfortable and elegant feel to it. The beds are so comfortable and the luxury sheets and spa products in the bathrooms simply add to the upscale and elegance of this beautiful bed and breakfast! Amazing experience! Researching our road trip through West Virginia, I found this awesome B&B through a combination of 5 star reviews on Yelp, TripAdvisor, and other websites. I'm so glad we did. Preston was super friendly and helpful at answering questions before we booked. We were late arriving for our one night stay (having stopped a few too many times at all the great spots we encountered on our way through the state) but Kitt gave us all the necessary information over the phone, and we let ourselves into our room at 9 pm. The room--the George Washington--was gorgeous. It had two double beds, perfect for hubby, me, and our 3 and 5 year olds. It was decorated with presidential memorabilia, which I enjoyed looking at. The bathroom was small, but what you'd expect from an old house, with new fixtures, great water pressure, super fluffy towels, etc. We slept well, and awoke the next morning to an amazing breakfast. They made mouse-shaped pancakes for my daughters with butter and local maple syrup. For the grown ups they offered pancakes with blueberry orange compote and applewood smoked bacon. Fresh fruit (pineapple, which they thoughtfully cut into smaller pieces for the kids), coffee and a delicious juice blend. What also really struck me in the morning is how amazing the physical property is. We had arrived after dark, so we couldn't appreciate it fully. The house is just gorgeous and so interesting in terms of layout and decoration. The grounds are beautiful--even in fall. I want to come back in summer just so I can sit on the veranda and read a newspaper. All day. A word to the wise: they were so welcoming to my kids but if you are thinking of staying here with your own brood, make sure they are well behaved. I understand there is skiing/snow tubing in the winter about 30 minutes away. So many options! What a great property! I truly hope I find a reason to return! read more
