    I stayed here on the night of 3/12/13 for work and found it to be the best value in comparison to the surrounding hotels. I usually go for a Holiday Inn Express. However, the HIX nearby was above the max reimbursement rate at my employer, so I had to pass. This was a good substitute. It seemed pretty new and was clean. I stayed in a King Suite with the separate living area and a microwave and refrigerator. I thought that the arrangement was odd. There was a 3/4 wall in the middle of the room separating the bed and the sofa. I guess it was supposed to make it seem like two separate rooms, but it was just weird. The TV was on the opposite wall in the middle of the two, so no matter where you sat, the TV view wasn't ideal. Not a big deal for me, but it might be for others. The bathroom was incredibly small! The door almost hit the toilet bowl when closing and you had to squeeze into a corner on either side of the toilet just to close the door while inside. I'm fairly thin, so it wasn't a problem, but I can't imaging how a larger person would close the door while inside the bathroom...unless they got in the shower first. The linens were definitely a step below HIX, but that was to be expected. The comforter was a bit scratchy and thin. I like to be warm when I sleep, so I turned up the heat a bit. I awoke in the middle of the night to a loud buzzing noise (sort of like something was vibrating). I figured out that it was the heating unit, but was too tired to do anything about it. I also woke up at 5:50am to a banging noise coming from above the bathroom. I also heard water running, so I imagine that it was air in the pipes. Luckily, my alarm was set to go off in 10 minutes, so I just got up. If I had to go back to sleep, it would have been annoying. The fitness room left a lot to be desired. There was a bow-flex-type weight machine, a stationary bike, and a treadmill. I didn't try the weight machine, but the bike was stuck on what seemed like 500 resistance and was nearly impossible to even pedal. I tried adjusting it to no avail. The treadmill worked...but the incline feature didn't. I have no meniscus in either knee and am supposed to limit high impact activities, but without an elliptical or a bike, I had to use the treadmill. The other weird thing was that the wall that faced the hallway (right beside the entrance to the water park) was nothing but windows. There were no blinds, so everyone who walked by the fitness room turned and stared at me as they went by. Creepy because no one looks hot while working out. The staff members were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was what you would expect from a hotel. They had 2 waffle machines, which was unexpected. If I needed to stay in the area again, I would probably choose this hotel based on the value. However, if paying a little higher price isn't out of the question, I would probably go for the HIX. They never seem to let me down. :)

    3/25/19 In my first impression the smell of clean when you get to the lobby was Very Good. The super friendly staff was my first time and they explained every detail to me. The hallways, elevator, room and bathroom clean. With 100% free of cigarette smell. The pool area that was the # 1 reason at the time of choosing it was Spectacular clean the warm water, my children enjoyed hours on it. Breakfast with great variety, You can even make your own WAFFLES!!! Definitively a place that I would recommend and to which I would return.

    This hotel is disgustingly dirty, there was hair in the shower, blood or something resembling it on the curtains. Everything is really old and outdated in the room. I didn't shower or anything in the hotel. I only washed my face and used a hand towel. I was charged 65.00 for the towel and wash cloth. They claimed it was dirty and couldn't be cleaned. MAKEUP comes out of towels!!!! I travel and stay in hotels monthly and have never had this issue with Makeup on a wash cloth causing 65.00 in damages. After reading other reviews it seems the hotel is making a lot of money off charging people for towels. If you're stuck staying in this gross hotel take pictures of everything for when they charge you for damages.

    This hotel is very kid friendly. It's not bad for the price. It definitely kept my 3 girls under 10 entertained.

    Nice place. 4.5 stars (Come on Yelp, we need 1/2 stars). Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, lots of parking. I would stay here again.

The hotel is very accessible from the interstate, and has several great restaurants very close by. It's only a couple miles from downtown, where I had a great time hanging out after my events were done, and I was able to get back easily even without my GPS. The staff was incredibly friendly, and my check in process was simple. The property seemed close to full, but I was never bothered by any noise from other guests, even in the morning when people were checking out. The shower was great, it heated quickly and had excellent water pressure, as did the sink. The other in room amenities were also top notch, the coffee was excellent, the microwave was in good repair (and clean under the tray, which is something a lot of hotels miss). The breakfast was well stocked and very tasty, although I didn't eat much. I did drink a lot of juice, which was cold and refreshing. When it came time to check out, the process was very efficient. One extra detail I really liked was that in the lobby, they had a bucket of ice scrapers for guests to use. Clearly an older hotel, hopefully in the process of being renovated as stair walls and outside doors do not meet Hilton standards. my second floor room had clearly been renovated but my door did not fully meet at door jam, and I could see the hallway from my room. All door was locked. Friendly staff good breakfast. Full review: I don't think I'd stay here again I didn't check in upon arrival cause I used my mobile app and checked in before I had arrived. I have to say I really really like that feature. That's a big bonus to staying at these properties. It's just so easy you can pick your room and everything Highly recommend their app I went in through the back way-closer to my car and room. Found one side door doesn't close-it's permanently unlocked (safety hazard) I was on the second floor. Found stairwell needed LOTS of attention Not up to Hilton standards whatsoever One side of the door didn't have a handle -it had the interior components sticking through the other side - found that cheap to cut corners to that extent. I questioned (to myself) if it even met fire standards, because you would think it should have a handle All doors had some issue here it seems. I got to my room and those doors have the updated locks that open with your phone that's super bougie and very nice Very up to current trend what's better is it actually worked a lot of times it doesn't work and you have to go back downstairs So I've got in my room and I was pleasantly surprised it was incredibly clean. the toilet lover of this unit needs to be attended to by maintenance because it will stay in the flesh mode which just keeps having the toilet run What I didn't like about the bathroom The curtain and counter. Housekeeping gave me ones that were a big gigantic wrinkly mess. The since counter is too small. created a lot of space by angling the sink that's nice if you need a lot of space, but it is not practical if you need a lot of counter space I chose a king bed and there was so much floor space not occupied by furniture. I found that very nice. That was nice. The bed was made nicely- all except for when you undid it to go to sleep. Housekeeping didn't bother to put the fitted sheet all the way on so it popped off the moment I moved the duvet and I don't know if they're using too small of a fitted sheet or their fitted sheets are shrinking, but you couldn't get it to even cover the mattress. It wouldn't even go more than a centimeter over the mattress's initial edge. Needless to say, I woke up with a fitted sheet cover's edge in my face. This is a BIG pet peeve of mine What I hated about this hotel... which is essentially the root of why it has such a low star ranking : I don't know if they have fire walls. Between the rooms. Why? They definitely don't have any soundproofing attributes. I could hear my neighbors as if they were standing in my room Honestly I think I could hear my neighbor's neighbors as if they were right next-door to my front door, Oh, and now let's talk about the front door. Please take a look at the pictures I have attached. I could see the outside from my door while it was fully closed and locked. Now my room was the first room that you would pass after you got off the elevator and turned left so pretty much anybody who was in the elevator lobby sounded like they were also in my room didn't matter how loud they talked they could be whispering This made for really bad relaxation and sleeping. It was a noisy stay. I think I slept collectively 3 1/2 hours. I definitely wasn't able to go to sleep until after 12 and I had to be up at five The people above me sounded like elephants, but I was expecting that because I was not on the upper level. As far as the room decor, it was all very much updated. There's a lot of complaints saying that this hotel is outdated. I'm thinking it's in mid renovation because my room was fully decorated in the same manner as some of the rooms I've stayed in in the Phoenix area out west Which are on trend. I did notice that this hotel does not use any carpet padding, I thought that was a little cheap. It's nice to have a little cushion But I think this is the way the industry is traveling Before leaving, I did take a look at the breakfast. There is nothing that I could complain about with their breakfast. They had milk bottles they had juice they had yogurt. Three types of fresh fruit, cereal, waffles, muffins, scones, both bacon, and sausage. They had potato wedges oatmeal. I mean, you name it it was there. One of the better free breakfast. They've clearly been trying in some areas to improve. In others, though... let's just say they have some work to do. HOUSECLEANING - The one staff member we interacted with was friendly enough. But, when we got fresh towels, they were all just stacked on the sink. Would it really have broken someone to move them a couple of feet to the shelves where they belonged? Also, we were out of conditioner when we arrived (need to bring out own going forward), and the front desk woman was quick to provide us with a new one. But, we told the housekeeping staff about it, and they said they would secure it to the wall and remove the empty one. They never did. The room was otherwise clean, but they only did up the sheets one day, and I think only because we asked them to. FRONT DESK - No issues here. The staff member who checked us in was up front that the digital key likely wouldn't work, and she created our keys very quickly. She also provided us with a couple of bottles of cold water, which was nice. POOL - Ugh, no. It was fairly cold for an indoor pool, which maybe wasn't the worst thing ever. But, it was filthy. The water was almost murky and I could feel "not-water" brushing against my legs. I don't know what it was, and I really don't think I want to know. Just... never again. Also, no towels. We had to snag some from the fitness center next door, as we didn't want to risk using our own body towels from our room. Dimly lit, too. TECHNOLOGY - The wifi seemed to work fine during our visit, but as mentioned before, the digital key on the app did not work. At all. Throughout the entire stay. It's been years since this tech was introduced. They need to get off their kiesters and figure this out. BREAKFAST - This was also fairly underwhelming. There wasn't much variety, and a lot of things were frequently out. I will say this: their staff was usually pretty quick to refill items, even when approaching the end of breakfast time. One of the cereal dispensers was broken from day one, and it was never fixed while we were there. When they did have omelets, they were overcooked and sitting in egg water. Yeesh... ROOM / COMFORT - The room itself wasn't too bad. The mattress is pretty firm, and the pillows are pretty soft. So, it's a weird mix. I definitely woke up sore most nights. The fridge was fine, though... I guess I can say that about it. Overall, it was far from the best Hampton Inn I've stayed at. It might be close to the worst, though. Judging from the other comments, I'm not alone in my experiences. Though, again, I feel like they are trying here and there. Corporate - if you are reading this, send help now!! This is near Kent State University, and not too far from Akron and Canton. It's a great location, but it needs to be helped and fast! Local Management - if YOU are reading this, I know you're trying, but bring in help! Admit defeat and get some professionals in here as quickly as possible! You have a golden location where you are, and you can be so much better than your local competitors (instead of stooping down to their level). But, you need to admit that you have multiple shortcomings, and you need to get people here who can turn the situation around.

Even using Wyndham's online check-in they'll still insist on copying your ID and charging your card an additional $50 for incidentals that they won't refund unless you dispute it with your credit card. Probably a high likelihood of identity theft from this location. Very embarrassing for a Wyndham property.

That is just an excuse to cheap out and not pay for maid service. The bathroom floor was not cleaned in a long time and the room was dirty in places. I had to go to the registration office to get more towels as I spilled coffee on mine. The breakfast that was advertised was very poor. EVERY MORNING THE COFFEE AT THE BREAKFAST WAS COLD! EVERY MORNING! And the lobby that has the tables to eat breakfast was unavailable. They took all the tables and chairs and pushed them up against the wall so you could not eat breakfast in the lobby. I had to wash some clothes there and used to the coin laundry. When I bought detergent from the detergent dispenser, nothing came out after I paid for it. I had to go to the from desk and get some detergent. But it advertised a laundry room. The dryer did not get hot enough to dry my clothes. I had to later hand them to dry in my room. The ceiling in the bathroom was in disrepair. The room had a musty smell and did not smell clean. I wont be making reservations there again.

    After reading numerous bad reviews and photo documentation of how horrible this hotel would be, who…read morethrows caution to the wind and reserves a room - me?! Sheer desperation brought my family here. Due to a local Fair, there wasn't a hotel room available in Kent or in the surrounding area. The Yelp reviews horrified me but I studied the timeframe of the reviews and hoped things had improved over the years. This was confirmation how important it is to write reviews. I called toll free number and was quoted a price different than the front desk price. Oh well, I'm desperate so I'll pay $94 for a $70 room. The front desk clerk wasn't the friendliest, probably because I questioned her about the awful reviews and requesting a room without bedbugs. She stated they did not have bedbugs and that customers see any type of bug and claim it's a bedbug. Sure, okay. She eventually warmed up and shared information about the area. After walking the three flights of stairs (no elevator) and doing a thorough check of our room and mattresses, we settled in. Our room was in good condition - no signs of bugs, clean sheets and towels, operable microwave and refrigerator, working television and air conditioning. The air conditioner was set so low, the room was bitter cold. I knew that had to be a way of masking an odor but not the case. Our room warmed up and smelled pleasant. You pay for what you get, interior hallways, lighted parking, complimentary continental breakfast and an overall decent room. You will get a decent no frills room in a decent area, surrounded by other budget hotels. Would I come back, probably but not intentionally. My experience with these accommodations are a solid 3 star, an average budget hotel stay.
