Dirty mold stains on shower curtain
Lenore W.

Dogs allowed and at check in our rooms was next to a loud dog. No other rooms available, and the staff was responsive. One person at front desk on a busy Friday night. They were very nice as was the other staff ai interacted with. In terms of the physical - it was run down Area behind TV was dirty. The shower filled with water leaving me to think I was standing in the dirty water of many many others. Shower n tub flowed at the same time. Shower curtain was dirty. A long hair was on the shower wall. Mold in the corner of the shower. Breakfast was mid and not hot. Ceiling over waffle area was dirty (see pic). Ceiling tiles at end of hall water damaged

The front desk employee was amazing!! When we checked in the room was disgusting, especially the bathroom. The only other room they could offer was a handicapped room (which we wouldn't accept just in case someone who truly needed it would check in). So she came with cleaning products at 8pm to clean it herself (housekeeping wasn't available). So 5 stars for her, but shame on Hampton cleaning crew!!! Breakfast was horrible. We came down at 7am and the potatoes were dried as can be, the sausage was cold, the bananas were brown. I mean that wasn't up to par for the other Hampton inn that we visited elsewhere.

Showing what my TV looked like for the entire stay. It never worked even after I was able to tell the person that the front desk (3 hours)

It was under renovation and they were making loud noise until 6p and then started up again on Saturday at 7a. The room keys didn't work so you had to go the desk to get into your room which was fine Friday night but Friday afternoon you couldn't find the girl at the front desk. I went up there 6 times because my tv never worked. When I finally found her. She never resolved my issue with the tv. Hot breakfast in the morning consisted of sausage links and waffles. We also couldn't go swimming because the lady at the front desk wasn't available from 3p-6p. When I had to go to work!

RUN don't walk away from this establishment. They treat you like crap. Elevator broke and pool was closed when it opened white caps on the water smells funky not chlorine. This disaster began when this disabled person can't do stairs took 1.5 hours to get a room. They couldn't change my reservation cause I paid in advance. Yet the next day they claimed I didn't pay in advance after almost 8 calls I got my one charge reversed. The staff is sub par clean isn't clean it was a rushed cleaning to get me in the room however the issues in the room where long standing and not something that a every day cleaning would fix. The dust was an inch thick and stains on chairs and carpet. Hilton online said don't stay here too many complaints The site says don't book through Hilton they don't know what they're doing. Hilton honors members since 2014. Way to treat guests like crap! I'll stay in a box before here again. Lady crying in parking lot had her reservations cancelled they said oh well we were overbooked. RUN RUN don't stay here if u do bring a black light for entertainment!

This hotel is outdated and the rooms have an awful stench. If you have respiratory issues, my warning to you is to avoid this place!

For three glorious nights I had a good number of people attending training at my job and I booked them all rooms at the Kent State Hotel. To say Jannie Jordan is the best, is an understatement. She and the rest of the staff helped us to arrange all of the rooms, and worked with me endlessly on updating reservation lists. One of the rooms was mine and it was phenomenal! Probably the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in and the bed was beyond comfortable. The bathroom was large and the water pressure was great. On our second night we also had dinner at the hotel for 30 people. Working with both Jannie and Mary Kline on the menu and program for the evening was seamless. Their executive chef created the best menu! We had the Ohio Proud menu with added beef tenderloin at a carving station. The entire meal was so great and our customers were super impressed. Oh and I could eat the blueberry crisp every day! The attention to detail is just spot on...every time. As a side note, they also have a great restaurant and bar inside - don't just think you have to stop by for a special occasion!

Actually, I guess that was about it. If you're looking for a pretty clean conveniently located not-too-bad place to stay, this is a good option. One slightly weird thing happened that I'll mention in passing. While I was staying there, apparently someone who had the same first name as me left a review on Expedia.com. I got a knock on the door from the hotel manager who asked me to clarify why I left a one-star review. I said it wasn't me. I asked him to forward the details to my email address so I could figure out WTH he was talking about. He did. About 15 minutes later he came back to my room to continue the discussion but I yelled through the door "I'm busy on a tight schedule I'll talk to you tomorrow." I know places like this live and die on their reputation and this place is kind of borderline, but that was still a little creepy. But again, I'm glad places like this exist! I needed to do a trip on the cheap and this got the job done.

Even using Wyndham's online check-in they'll still insist on copying your ID and charging your card an additional $50 for incidentals that they won't refund unless you dispute it with your credit card. Probably a high likelihood of identity theft from this location. Very embarrassing for a Wyndham property.

Sheer desperation brought my family here. Due to a local Fair, there wasn't a hotel room available in Kent or in the surrounding area. The Yelp reviews horrified me but I studied the timeframe of the reviews and hoped things had improved over the years. This was confirmation how important it is to write reviews. I called toll free number and was quoted a price different than the front desk price. Oh well, I'm desperate so I'll pay $94 for a $70 room. The front desk clerk wasn't the friendliest, probably because I questioned her about the awful reviews and requesting a room without bedbugs. She stated they did not have bedbugs and that customers see any type of bug and claim it's a bedbug. Sure, okay. She eventually warmed up and shared information about the area. After walking the three flights of stairs (no elevator) and doing a thorough check of our room and mattresses, we settled in. Our room was in good condition - no signs of bugs, clean sheets and towels, operable microwave and refrigerator, working television and air conditioning. The air conditioner was set so low, the room was bitter cold. I knew that had to be a way of masking an odor but not the case. Our room warmed up and smelled pleasant. You pay for what you get, interior hallways, lighted parking, complimentary continental breakfast and an overall decent room. You will get a decent no frills room in a decent area, surrounded by other budget hotels. Would I come back, probably but not intentionally. My experience with these accommodations are a solid 3 star, an average budget hotel stay.
