We have been so excited to try Comfort and Crave. We were blown away. The owners and staff were friendly, thorough and fun! They walk you through how each dish is prepared. The food was DELIGHTFUL, hot and quite obviously made with very fresh ingredients. The portions are easily enough for 2 meals. This is a pickup joint so plan accordingly. But the food travels well and is packed perfectly. My order: the 4 sides platter - it was almost impossible to decide which to choose. 1. The cornbread is light and fluffy, not dense and crumbly. Sweet and buttery. 2. Okra and tomatoes- very fresh ingredients. Perfectly balanced seasoning, and absolutely delicious (my favorite one) 3. Cabbage - fresh cabbage, buttery with a slight tang to accent. Lovely! 4. Mac n cheese- a serious must have! Buttery with loads of cheese. The pasta was tender but not mushy like other places. Perfection. Husband's order: he is the meat lover (we shared) 1. Yams - this dish has seasonings that will make you look forward to the holidays! Sweet and savory all at once. 2. Smothered Chicken- the gravy is so good you could drink it. Tender and moist chicken. There's a background seasoning in this that lit up the dish! Loved it. 3. Stewed Turkey legs - never been a turkey fan, but these legs were out of this world. Tender, meaty, juicy! And again, the gravy was outstanding. There are far too many mushy comfort foods being served out there. But Comfort and Crave is NOT that kind of place. The food is made with expertise, exceptional skill and an abundance of joy. We enjoyed every single bite and we are quite full. LOL They are 3 miles from our house and I expect to gain some pounds. I accept this with appreciation and happiness. Go. Upon looking at the food aligned on the counter, I was not impressed. The food just looked overcooked. I believe presentation is everything. But we decided to give them a chance. I chose the baked chicken with yams, and I can't remember the other side. My husband had baked turkey wings. I can say that the chicken was very tasty. However, the rest left a lot to be desired. I guess with being a country girl and remembering how my mother fixed food, made me more of a critic. I can say the price was reasonable, and the portions were plentiful. I love that we have a soul food option finally. My first visit came for an early lunch before the line got long. Plenty of options to choose from and food is presented well. I had the baked turkey wings, and they were very tender and flavored the greens were OK as well as the macaroni and cheese. Love the okra and the peach cobbler. Salmon was very good. Portions are large For someone that doesn't cook soul food often this will be a great option to have that down home feel without getting in the kitchen. I wish I knew the young ladies name but her enthusiasm over the phone was amazing, as well as the young lady Fran who cashed my order out. The food is as southern as it gets! with nicely portioned sides, well seasoned meats, delicious corn bread etc. The list can go on. I did order I believe it's the comfort plate that comes with two side and finished every last piece. If you haven't tried their food yet you're missing out. Comfort & Crave definitely lives up to the name! The food was moist, flavorful, and seasoned just right without being overloaded with sodium. My favorites so far were the fried chicken (crispy and seasoned to perfection), mac and cheese (baked and cheesy), turkey wings (moist and full of flavor), collards, and yams (perfect level of sweetness). She also has a variety of entrees, veggies, sides, drinks, and desserts to choose from. The lemon crunch cake and red velvet cake were TOO good! We walked in close to the end of business for them today and they greeted us with smiles and welcoming vibes. They were so happy to have us. We knew they were about to close and didn't want to be a hassle but they still brought out fresh food for us steaming hot. We were very thankful. The owner told us more about the business and how they really built a name for themselves through catering. We are so happy they are in the area because it's been hard to find a soul food place that was worth the money we would spend. This place hands down is a 10/10 with the food and the service. This small business is excellent and I was on a mission to make sure I got to experience it. The parking lot is a decent size but tends to be packed due to all of the business cramped into such a small lot but it's OK if you wait a few moments, somebody will be coming out of one of the business businesses and you can park. Once you're inside, this is definitely a pick up and go place. There are no seats available for you to sit down and eat, which is perfectly OK because that amount of food you get, you definitely would be needing a take-home plate. I got the the comfort plate as well as the comfort and crave plate. I had the chopped turkey wings with mac & cheese and sweet potatoes and this definitely tasted like a Thanksgiving meal. It was absolutely delicious. My other meal was Mississippi pot roast and meatloaf over yellow rice with cabbage and collard greens. Everything tasted amazing. The collard greens were savory. The cabbage was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The meatloaf was outstanding as was the Mississippi pot roast. I also was able to get a banana pudding and a sweet potato poundcake slice both were good but I am interested in some of the other flavors. These meals are super large portion and you definitely get your moneys worth and the Customer Service was 1000 out of 10 support your local businesses and even if you aren't a local come and try them out when you're in town make sure to check the times and understand that sometimes you may be too late and they sold out, but that's for good reason and they are definitely worth a second or third try. read more

Once I was able to give my order I found out they had sold out of meatloaf, turkey wings, and yams and would have to wait another 30 minutes. We ended up with the baked chicken and beef stew and both were delicious ...10 out of 10. We had not had cornbread like that since before my grandmother passed. The service was very friendly and welcoming. It is a take out only cafeteria-style restaurant, so no seating area, we just ate in the car which is fine with us. The honey butter corn bread was delicious but honestly the rest of the meal was underwhelming which was very disappointing because everything looks so tasty! I am from the south and I guess I am just used to more seasoning on my foods because I thought the chicken, greens, and macaroni were all pretty bland. The consistency of everything was perfect though, the mac was creamy and the chicken was moist. They just really really need to add seasonings. Unfortunately I wouldn't return because of this. Who decided to come out the back and serve. She was rude and unprofessional simply because someone change their minds on a single piece of meat. WOW. If not for the nice young lady cashier, the food would've been left right there. I believe the cashier name was Ta-ta or Lala. She could DEFINITELY teach the chef/owner some customer service. I drove 30mins each way to support a black owned business which meant to the owner who should be trying to grow her business by being pleasant and friendly.
