What happened? We loved this place since the family meal with 10 chicken fingers, fries and churros was plenty for our family of 5 (three young kids) and we loved the fried fresh HOT chicken! However we went yesterday and something has changed. The wings were small and chewy. The fries were cold and tasted stale. The chicken here is fantastic. I love, love, love fried chicken. They do a great job! I love the cane sugar soda machines, I so sick of corn syrup, in food, there is no reason to keep poisoning us. Give it up corn lobbyists you are making the nation ill, but that gives the drug companies something to fix. Comet also uses more ethical meat, and I wish more companies would follow suit. This is a fast casual restaurant, you order at the counter, and they bring your food to your table. The pricing is extremely fair for what you get. I stopped in here with a friend and we were both just -meh- about our meals here. We both went with the original chicken sandwich and fries, but the chicken came out super greasy and the fries were definitely not fresh. We did come right at lunch time, but they weren't very busy in the restaurant. I will say, the passion tea or whatever the pinky purple tea is mixed with the lemonade was very yummy. You can totally tell a difference between fast food or store bought chicken and their chicken which is antibiotic free, vegetarian fed, raised on cage free family farms, and breaded in house. I've had the cobb salad with chicken and their chicken baskets many times. There fries are average but they put a flavorful seasoning on them which is good. They also have really good homemade sauces which I really like such as ranch, blue cheese, buffalo, house sauce, etc. They don't have Coke or Pepsi products, which I was hesitant to like at first. They have Boylan's soda products, but they are actually really good! Overall, I really like this place and would recommend trying it out! read more

Best chicken! The chicken was well seasoned and crispy. The BBQ sauce was not traditional but very good! A little spicy with a sweet and smoky flavor. The fries were cooked to perfection! Crispy and salty and very fresh. Order the chicken and churro! Like chicken and waffles but WAY better and easier to eat. The soda choices were very good also. Their chicken quality is solid and even above average I would say but the downfall to their chicken is the size, they are a lot smaller than you would expect for the price. Their chicken along with their sauces will leave you wanting more after you finish the meal because the taste is just that good! On the flip side unless you want to pay an arm and a leg you will not be able to get the amount you desire as they are very very overpriced for the amount of food you get. This is a bummer as it shows their true colors of putting their bottom line before their customers which I believe is becoming a larger trend sadly. Fried chicken: 4.5/5 the tenders were breaded a little lightly which is just their style, but I was craving some heavy, super-breaded thick crispy chicken. This is a fun place to come with the family and enjoy a tasty meal. I think the chicken here is much better than canes and other establishments. The fries were probably some of the best I've had is they were small and crispy and delicious. The seasoning salt they use is good and I was pleasantly surprised with the sauces. I was a little disappointed in the churros and hoped they would be a little less doughy. Perhaps my batch was just under cooked. Either way, I like the concept of having something savory with something sweet. You can choose from tons of sauces from Thai chili, maple syrup, blue cheese, ranch, siracha, etc. The Decour and dining area is excellent. In fact the bar stools and height were perfect and comfortable as they were leveled properly. The service was great and the wait time on the food was not bad. I think the chicken portions are a bit smaller or inconsistent than expected. For example I had two chicken strips and my daughter had two chicken strips and her strips were almost double in size from mine. Not sure why that is but I was so hungry I just ate everything instead of pointing it out to the establishment. If you were in the area give them a try as I think the food is tasty. I hadn't been up to Old Town in quite a while and with some time to kill I was unable to pick between two of my favorite spots on Mountain. Luckily, as I was walking down attempting to make a choice a new option presented itself - adorable logo and all. A fried chicken sandwich and a side for less than $10 in Old Town is a heck of a deal - especially when it's actually tasty. I tried the Comet Sandwich and found it quite nice indeed. The chicken itself is nicely breaded, very crispy, and while it was definitely on its way past moist still juicy and delicious. The avocado added a nice fattiness that paired well with the slaw, and there was a nice hit of spice. I'd like to see an even spicier option, but that's just my taste. The fries (not included but also not expensive) were crispy and well salted - not always a guarantee. Food came out quickly, the staff behind the counter was friendly, and it's a great price for what you're getting - especially in Old Town. Really good chicken, great dining experience for downtown. The chicken itself is delicious, similar to any other place that does fresh breaded and not fried for hours ahead of time. They have Boylan Soda on tap which is cool to see rather than the same old soda options. There's also the necessary selection of local beer taps (NBB, Odell, Equinox). Definitely get Space Dust on your fries if you want to spice them up a bit. Their standard house sauce works well for the chicken itself. To top it all off, their Churros are awesome! Not the lame foot long sticks of dust that you might find elsewhere, these are softer and much more flavorful. New place, just went today for the first time. If it lives up to the goodness of the first time, I will up the star rating... Chicken was excellent, the tenders are good sized and have nicely crunchy breading while still being very moist and tasty inside. The cole slaw ("power slaw") on the side of the tenders basket was tasty but a small portion. Fries were fine, and bigger portion. Sauces are the boss! I tried three, the house sauce (kind of a thousand island knockoff), the siracha mayo, and the Thai chili. All were good with either the chicken or the fries. Prices are pretty ok, for Old Town especially. There's not a kids menu exactly but if you're bringing a couple of kids I think you'd win with an order of fries for them to share and get them each a couple of single tenders for probably only about $3 a kid, not including a drink of course. Side note: I love the Waffle Lab, combining this chicken with their waffles would be a total win! C'mon guys, make it happen! read more

I cannot believe I have lived here a year and not had this place until today! Holy moly! I am a convert. We got 2 Nashville sandwiches and fries and everything was incredible. Crisp, fresh coleslaw but didn't make the sandwich soggy. I'm not religious but this might have been the closest I get to a religious experience.
