My wife and I ordered a "Munchie Madness Platter" ($18) - mac-n-cheese bites, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, chicken fingers - and everything, including the sauces, was good! That was the high water mark. One bite into my half of the Fat Chance sandwich ($17), and my opinion of Fat Shack started falling like a rock. Soggy, greasy french fries for filler. Plenty of dried-out bread in every bite - that is, except for the outside, which was completely covered in sauce, making the edges soggy. Chicken fingers that didn't seem to belong there at all (live and learn). A single bite where I tasted the jalapeno popper. I was fine with the cheesesteak, but my wife thought it was awful. I ate most of my half of the sandwich, but felt disgusted for hours. Take this to the bank: I will never eat another Fat Shack sandwich. Finally: I know it' has been normalized, but that doesn't make it right to ask for a tip before any service has been provided. It's a total hostage situation. Did my refusal to participate result in a shoddy sandwich? Sadly, that's the best-case scenario. Otherwise, Fat Shack is doomed, because one the newness wears off, they'll still be serving remarkably bad sandwiches.
