Traveled to the Denver/Fort Collins this past weekend and we wanted something easy. Decided to get takeout here since we were staying down the road and it was less than an hr until their closing time. Clean place, got greeted by the cashier as we approached. My spouse and I stopped at Kona on Saturday night. We'd never been but saw their sign and decided to stop in. My spouse ordered the short ribs and I got the BBQ chicken and fried white fish. I also got one of their nectars and my spouse got a fountain drink. The food was delicious! I really loved the fish. The rice, mac salad, and broccoli was really good too. This place is delicious! I ordered the BBQ Chicken and shrimp combo plate and it was very good. The food was very fresh. The plate comes with 2 scoops of rice and one scoop of macaroni. I had them switch it for me and put two scoops of macaroni and one scoop of rice. This pricing is great for what you get. There isn't much to say about service since you order from the register and pickup your own food but the person who took our order was very nice. I highly recommend this place. read more

This place was yummy. We got the teriyaki chicken plate, and we had 2 kids with us. They got the mini dinners that came with macaroni salad and rice and teriyaki chicken. Everything was very good here. The employees were friendly and it didn't take too long for our food to be ready. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the teriyaki sauce was delicious. They also had some extra out in the seating area, so you could get a dipping cup to add even more sauce. Almost feels like they want you to take your order home and not eat it there. Menu is standard fare for Hawaiian food. Extra sauce is available for those that need it. (I love extra sauce) It's a walk up to order and then you get a number. It didn't take that long to get our food and it was fairly busy on a Friday night. Many of the orders were to go while we decided to eat in. This was my first time here and I'm not that impressed. The short ribs that the staff recommended had a really good flavor but they were not very tender. For $30 (ribs, crab Rangoon and fountain drink) I really expected better. The food was really pretty looking but it just wasn't my favorite meal. I got 3 ribs which isn't a lot of meat. I should have stuck with my first choice and got the fiery chicken. I also should not have left a tip. You go order at the front just like Burger King and get your own drink and whatever else you might need. Then they call your number and you pick up your own food. I usually had to drive to L&L to get Hawaiian BBQ, so I'm glad that they now have a place in northern CO that is closer to the local food I ate growing back on the islands. Their chicken Katsu was great because they use chicken thighs, which tends to be more similar to how it's made where I grew up. I've also had the bbq chicken which was great. This was a great find in an area full of restaurants. I think it is a perfect reminder of a Hawaiian plate of Terri beef with white rice and Mac salad. Their BBQ mix plate give you a taste of everything and is good. But I am Biased to the beef plate for the portion of meat you get. Their service was very friendly and polite.
