I haven't had a beer with my breakfast in a while, but okay......I can dig it.
Comet Cafe is a very fine eatery both trendy and yummy.
Comet Cafe is a throwback to how I pictured life in the midwest during the 50's and 60's with the old school diner feel, lunch counter with the stools, art deco design, comforting color scheme, fresh pies and desserts greeting you behind the glass that greet your eyes as you walk in (hello my sugary babies) and of course nice staff. The other thing that's very old school about this place is that their food isn't fast food, it's fresh, made inhouse over a stove and done right - like homemade.
Service and staff - I was a fan, everything came out perfectly and there were 8 of us - all pleased. The waiter was nice and accurate. Good Bro, Good for the House. I also am fond that they cater to everyone. Their philosophy is everyone is welcome inside, color, gender, creed, & religion - hey man, everyone's got to eat.
The one thing to watch out for is if you have a lot of people at the table,
bthey might not be able to accommodate everyone with a credit card or something -Nothing I worry about because I use cash to dine, but a few at the table thought that was weird. Milwaukee with its rules is pretty weird. The city has a lot of rules to follow - definitely not as laid back as a Detroit, Cleveland, or Pyongyang - but that's the city and not this restaurant.....back to the restaurant.
Prices are beyond fair - Service is great, portions are generous and the food is incredible. I wish I could try their lunch sometime. Someone wanted to get something on that lunch menu that sounded good, but it's against the rules to order it before lunchtime. They would lose their shit if they ever went to a Detroit area Coney where you can get quality food at any time of the day, but who cares, the food here is amazing. My breakfast was so good that all I think about is breakfast now.
Food - I had the Benny Biscuit with Hash Browns and it was spectacular. Delicious biscuits (clearly homemade), topped with ham, I believe cheese, perfectly poached eggs, and sausage gravy that exuded fresh and made with care. I believe it had a hint of chorizo - so good!
The Hash Browns were made perfectly. It was a perfect marriage of buttery flavor and comfort goodness. This guy Tuts ordered double Hash Browns and I was thinking, "hmmmm.....that's odd," but after I took about of mine I realized that Tuts was a god damn genius I tell you what!.
At the table, there were zero plates left with food - ZERO. Well Done
Other food hits at the table included the meatloaf omelet, pancakes with bacon, Spotted Cow Beer (not exclusive to just here, but really good), and the huge Breakfast Burrito known as The Stendler, which is a corned beef filled Milwaukee Instagram Legend! (If anyone was curious, his Siracha message was "Get Up, Stand Up")
Comet Cafe is legit man and I guess it was even on Food TV according to the menu and I can see why. Cool place with great food. Vegan-friendly - if you are into that, yes lots of options for vegans. Awesome looking desserts too, cupcakes the size of New England, they looked huge and delicious, but next time......next time ;) read more
