Ugh. Let me be blunt-- I am a coffee snob, but I cannot stand pretentious coffee shops. Quality coffee and snobbery do not and should not go hand-in-hand. The location is awkward-- it's in a office building on the main level and it's difficult to see if they're actually open. The service was lackluster. Great coffee shop with delicious food! I stopped in here on a Friday morning to do some work and enjoy some good coffee and a light breakfast. I didn't go the traditional coffee route but it seems it is definitely something they are known for so I will try next time. Instead, I went with a Vanilla Latte and an egg, bacon and avocado breakfast. Inside/experience: I've had this place bookmarked on yelp for a while now and I was very excited to try. My friends and I ordered our drinks shortly after the couple in front of us. There were 5 employees working. We ordered a pistachio latte, a vanilla latte and a cold foam cold brew. When we were waiting for our drinks, 5+ others ordered after us (in store) and all received their drinks before ours. After they all left the employee had to ask us what we ordered. It was not busy and it took 15 minutes for us to receive 3 drinks with nothing special added or removed. I believe it took so long because 2 of the employees were both on their phones, 2 were standing talking to each other, and the other was taking orders and making the drinks. I could tell other customers dining inside we're annoyed because of how loud the two were talking. I was going to ask for more milk in my latte but when I stood at the counter the employees huddled to the other side and didn't see me. Beverages: Iced pistachio latte- the pistachio flavor was great, but there wasn't enough milk. Vanilla latte-it was better than the pistachio latte but not my favorite.. Cold foam cold brew- the cold foam was great, but the cold brew was THE WORST I've ever had. It was so bitter it tasted like it was expired. All of the other cold brew's I've tried were smoother than iced coffee. I'm really disappointed in the employee's lack of interactions and the cold brew. read more

We decided on this place based off of the good reviews, called ahead to ask if there was a wait time for dining and was informed no wait. We walk-in and ask to be seated, however, they said they're not open for dining, just order ahead and take-out, which was confusing since we called ahead and their outside patio was set-up and someone was seated out there. Asked about their patio and they said "sure, no problem!" Okay then! Here's one tip, if you decide to dine here, just order before you get there and ask to sit outside. Our experience was bizarre and I wish we would have been informed that outdoor patio was available and it's best to order ahead. Our server informed us she had to take the full order at once, she couldn't put in our drink order and then come back for our food. That's fine, their system probably isn't set-up for normal dining. She came back a few minutes later and we tried ordering two orders of the kid's waffle but unfortunately their waffle maker was broken. We're not picky but there seemed to be an issue with just about everything we tried to order. It was one thing after another with this place so we just decided to order our drinks and leave. New favorite coffee place in St. Louis. They're offering curbside pickup due to COVID which is great. I had a dirty chai latte with oat milk to drink and it's definitely the best chai I've found in St. Louis. Its pretty spicy but that's how it's supposed to be and I loved it. To eat I tried the loaded avocado toast and the cinnamon roll and both were super good. The bread on the toast was thick sourdough, and they put honey on top which I love. I heated up the cinnamon roll in the microwave and the icing got melted and the center was really doughy, I highly recommend! Will definitely be back to try more of their menu. read more

The Coffee is amazing. The breakfast/Brunch? Absolutely awful. Ordered Brussel Sprout Hash, the brussel sprouts were soggy and overly tough. The knives are too dull to cut them too so they were difficult to eat the big ones. They just put balsamic vinegar on them. Not even salt or pepper. They need a better pipeline for cooking these. My group also got Lox Bagel, and they forgot the dill cream cheese, and when asked they just brought out cream cheese no spices. Also the onions were huge and not great. We also got a breakfast biscuit, which took 40 minutes and they forgot about it twice and had to come out and ask. And the biscuit was literally dough outside of the top skin. And they forgot the meat for it. Lastly was the peach toast, which was actually good, the only thing. All in all, the coffee is great and worth the hype, but the breakfast is awful. I think they need to retool it or cut back on that menu, it's just too ambitious. read more

I am a huge fan of Coma. The coffee is top notch, especially their cappuccinos - they always create a drink that is smooth, not bitter or harsh, and allows the flavor notes of the espresso to come through. The latte art is always excellent too. The atmosphere is very modern and spacious. The tables and counters have clean lines and the walls are a bright white. It creates an open and inviting space that reminds me of a trendy Scandinavian cafe. In a city with so many great coffee shops, Coma belongs in the top tier of coffee shops. read more

What a great coffee shop! Any place that makes a virtual employee like me feel comfortable to squat for a few hours receives high marks in my book. The space is friendly to people who need to get lost in their laptops (lots of outlets) or those wanting to meet over a meal and good coffee. Coma had a number of visitors while I was there, and it never felt too crowded or too loud. Perfect for a meet up with friends or to get some work done on your lonesome. Minor gripes aside, the coffee was solid, and the baristas were a pleasure! Tips: The baristas are super knowledgeable, so don't be afraid to ask for an opinion! Take a seat at the bar for some solid window watching and ample access to power sources. It was a little chilly during my visit, so wear sleeves if you've got em'. Finally, don't forget to look UP! There is some awesome artwork to be seen hanging up there. Coffee: My coffee was full-bodied and there was a lot of care that went into the cup. It was a recommendation from the barista and exactly what I was looking for. My only issue is that the beaker that the coffee was served in got cold really quickly! There is a large opening on top of the receptacle making it vulnerable to heat loss, so drink quickly if you want to keep your joe warm. Food: Didn't give the food a try, but I did spot a solid selection of donuts and breakfast pre-made items if you're hungry. Atmosphere: While the atmosphere is sophisticated and nails the look it's going for, it isn't particularly cozy. While this isn't necessarily my kind of thing, I could definitely imagine it being someone else's. Regardless, everything is shiny and looks brand new, so if your looking for a well-kept space then you've found it. Work Friendly: There was definitely a solid amount of plugs to be found at the bar and the other seating spaces, so no worries on that front. The internet took a little while to get along with my computer, but we got there eventually! I clocked the wifi download speed at 35mbps. In honour of MO Coffee & Tea Week, Coma offered a flight of El Salvador prepared 3 different ways: pour-over, cold brew (my usual fave), and cortado. As a coffee fan who loves to try it all different ways, this is right up my alley! It was presented beautifully, with a "placemat" explaining the nuances you could taste in each method, along with a small bag of beans to take home. This place is in the lobby of what seems to be an office building, but don't let that stop you if you're unfamiliar with the area. It is such a nice coffee shop with great coffee and treats like the blueberry coffee cake donut and roasted pepper and mushroom quiche I had. I went on a Sunday and there were only 2 of us customers in there. I'm sure there are many more customers at certain hours during the work week. But it's a great place to set up to get some work done especially after usual business hours if you want less people around. read more

Espresso and Lattes are all I can speak of at the moment but its worth saying even at this early stage that they should be around for quite some time. Prices are about what you'd expect and the product they're offering is great. I'm not even sure if they technically offer table service but when we decided to sit on their lovely patio, they obliged and brought our drink out along with all the accompaniments. Service here is fast and friendly, and unlike other 'premium' coffee joints, the staff actually know what they are talking about. This is one of my favorite spots to get some work done! Their coffee is consistently good; served at the right temperature (and in heated mugs!), not too bitter and at a great price. They have quite a few tables to study; I've never had trouble securing a spot unlike most coffee shops! I do recommend going either before or after lunch time as many employees from the businesses inside the building go there for their break. It can get a little noisy during those times. I'm all about supporting local businesses and love to try out new coffee shops but was pretty disappointed with this one. I would not come back and would not recommend it to others. Customer service is a huge part of a business and was greatly lacking here! The employee serving us was very rude and unpleasant and appeared annoyed at us throughout our visit. The coffee was good but overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I would rather go somewhere else where I am treated more respectfully.
