Do not go to this shop. i took my car for safety inspection and they called back and said it needed new struts and brake pads. They quoted me 800 for it. Seemed high but I stupidly accepted. came to pick up the car two hours later and it is now 900; of which just $200 parts and $640 labor. For two hours of work. Manager refused to make changes, said I had accepted the estimate. These people will rip you off. Always see a written estimate before accepting a quote. Went in recently for a tire rotation and oil change. Upon retrieving my car, I immediately noticed my running boards were cracked in the same manner on both sides in the same location. I notified the Manager and Mechanic that it appeared the lift may have damaged my running boards. The Mechanic immediately went into defense mode denying that could ever happen, which was very suspicious as I am 100% sure the running boards were not cracked when I gave them the SUV. I reached out to the Owner and he basically said send it to my insurance, instead of doing the right thing and claiming it on his insurance. Long story short, take pictures of your car before service and don't trust these guys. read more

Short version: Incompetent, liars or just fraudsters? Either way, avoid these rip-off artists at all costs. I have a 2007 car, so not something I want to put much money into. I brought it in for a new battery in October and they told me it needed to have a new front axel. I'm not sure why they noticed it, but I guess they were supposedly giving it a good check over or it made a sound, etc. I asked to make sure there was nothing else major since it was an old car I didn't want to spend a lot on and they said everything else was good. I got the work done and since it is Covid and this is our second car it probably got a few hundred new miles since then until this week when it needed its annual inspection. This is when the next big expensive repair miraculously showed up. I work nearby so I dropped it off for them to do when they had time. I knew it needed new tires and told them that, knowing it would fail but I'd have a couple of weeks to get the tires. They called and told me it needed new tires (which I had already told them I knew) and that both control arms were cracked and had to be replaced to pass inspection and gave me a total cost north of $1400 to do the work, $870 of which was for the control arms. Huh - after telling me it was all good just a few hundred miles earlier? Plus the control arms are right next to the axels which they had supposed checked all around. I asked how this could be since they had told me it was fine - how did both control arms suddenly crack? When I demanded to know why they hadn't told me when they had supposedly checked it out and done the previous expensive repair the first response was "it can just happen." When I didn't accept that, particularly that both were now cracked and dangerous. The manager played good cop and said I was right and asked the mechanic what was going on and the mechanic said he didn't know he didn't work on it... anyway, seeing I'm mad and they've been caught either lying or doing shoddy work they say they'll take it off the inspection. Huh? A minute ago it is a huge safety issue that absolutely has to be fixed for them to be able to pass the inspection, but now they can take it off. Is that even legal? While admitting they should have noticed it and told me, they never offered to do the work at a discount or any other compensation and I just took my keys, paid for the failed inspection and left. It goes on from there, but the short version is I called around and got quotes from 3 other places all of which were about 50% less for replacing the control arms, including using original manufacturer parts. When I brought it somewhere to have it looked at, the guy said the control arms would need replacing at some point but they weren't bad and certainly didn't warrant failing the car. Did that front axel in October Citgo said had to be repaired really need it either? So I got my new tires and had it inspected at another shop, including asking them to check the control arms. The guy doing the inspection at the new place said all it needed was new wipers, which it actually really did need since they were literally in tatters. Since I hadn't been driving it in the rain I hadn't been thinking about it, but it was just something that had slipped my mind. I thanked them for telling me and happily paid the $25 to get it done. If Citgo was doing a real inspection instead of trying to create an expensive repair, how did they not notice the wipers? I looked it up in the inspection code and wipers are actually one of the specific things they are supposed to check. If you are crazy enough to go there, make sure you get a second or third opinion when they tell you something needs to be fixed. And definitely get another quote or two to compare. I have been going to this station for auto repairs for more than 15 years even as I moved 3 times around Arlington County. Management is always dressed impeccably in white shirts, and the service matches that image. They work well and efficiently. When parts are needed, they shop around on your behalf to get the best deal. I've had all sorts of repairs made to 3 different cars over the course of my patronage. All of the cars have been old, not easily fixed, and difficult in terms of finding replacement parts. Every single time the work was done perfectly for completely reasonable costs, and the interaction with personal has always been pleasant and intelligent. This place was a lifesaver. I hit a giant pothole on Memorial Bridge, and immediately my tire pressure light went on. I knew it was bad, but was able to limp on over here. Luckily, I caught the mechanic before he left for the day!!! He quickly took my wheel off, confirmed the wheel rim was bent / causing the flat, and then offered to try to fix the wheel with a blow torch and hammer (as opposed to getting a whole new wheel for $200!). It worked, he switched the tires around on my car and I was out of there in under an hour. So thankful for them for fixing it quickly and not charging an arm and a leg!!! read more

I take my car to this station and repair shop for everything - gas, questions, repairs, and especially the extremely professional and courteous customer service received from the Manager, Nasiff Sultan. He is so nice and he is also extremely knowledgeable about cars, my car. He is very patient too. I explain a problem to him in very few words, and already he knows the solution and he is always right! On Monday, I took my car in because the battery (was replaced twice in 2 years) seemed to be dying and my car was slow to start. Nasiff called me back the same day to let me know that my alternator needed to be replaced, and to my surprise the car was also ready the same day, and that is what I call high-class service and professionalism. I always need my car to be available to me. Thank you so, so much Nasiff for always being there and for getting the problem solved. read more

I brought my vehicle back here because it was making a sound after they replaced a part. (According to the second and third opinions I got, there was a mistake in the installation.) After examining it again themselves, Citgo insisted the noise was not coming from the part they replaced. I had to stick with the 2 of the 3 opinions I got and insisted they re-replace the part anyway. They agreed to re-do it at no cost, even though they believed it wouldn't fix the noise. It worked! My car no longer makes the noise. Based on this experience, I downgrade them to 3 stars because they may not know what they are doing when it comes to more advanced car fixes. However, I still recommend them for quick and friendly service and your basic maintenance needs. read more

There's nothing special about this Citgo location. There is a small service garage for minor maintenance. On the other side of bob and Edith's is another gas station so if this one is full go next door or vise versa. read more

I am flabbergasted that other reviewers have said this place is honest. Perhaps this business is honest to male customers. I took my car for a state inspection. Amir (mechanic) called me and told me my rear brake pads were "paper thin" and it would cost $700 to replace. I immediately thought that was odd because my brakes were not very old. I told them not to do any work. I went there and the manager inside told me, "You definitely need to change your rear brakes." I said I would be getting a 2nd opinion. I went to the garage to retrieve my car and the mechanic offered to show me my brakes. I declined, but thought perhaps this showed honesty. My boyfriend and I looked at the brake pads. They were not remotely "paper thin." They were well above the width needed to pass state inspection. I took my car to Metro Motor next door (they have high reviews) and my car unsurprisingly passed. I will definitely be moving forward with filing complaints with the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board, Better Business Bureau, and state police. I understand times are hard for businesses, but to scam a person out of $700 is awful, more so the fact that brake pads can be checked. The manager and mechanic lied to me. There is no doubt in my mind that this was to make money out of a seemingly unknowledgeable woman. read more

Very unprofessional. They took forever to get a part, and told me it was ready then it was not. When I finally arrived after a bunch of days they had raised the bill without notifying me. On top of that the car was not fixed right. On top of that there were grease stains all over my seat. I think I may take them to small claims court to pay for my seat cleaning. Columbia Pike Citgo is a decent gas station. But moreso, it's my go-to place for state inspections and minor repairs to my car. Their inspection dude is easy to work with and very fair. I can usually drop off my car and have it back within an hour or so - enough time to hit the farmers market on Sundays or grab a pint at the new William Jeffreys. I've recommended them to others for repairs and inspections, and all of them have come out of it happy and satisfied. Between A-1 down the street for real repairs, and Citgo for inspections and minor stuff, my car is well taken care of around here. read more

Went for car safety inspection. Technician said front struts has oil leakage and cannot pass the test. Quoted $350 to replace. Took $16 and gave a rejection report. Technician seems genuine but I wasn't sure since it was first time here. Went to Toyota Koons Arlington for 2nd opinion and they inspected and provided a pass report without any issues. read more

I was in a rush to get an oil change and got here just in time to have my car worked on immediately. The cashier was friendly, and brought me out a folding chair to sit on as I waited for my car. One of the mechanics came in while I was waiting and showed me how filthy my cabin filter was. I was going to give him the okay to change it but he said labor would be $30. That is absolutely ridiculous. I changed it myself as soon as I left and it took me literally only 30 seconds. I know mechanics charge a lot for labor, but that is a real ripoff. To be honest, it should be complimentary with purchase of the filter. He also said I needed my tires rotated, which I agreed to for $20. When he pulled my car out, the low oil notification popped up on my dashboard and he said "oh! let me check the oil level". And then he got out and added some oil. So basically....... the oil change never happened and he was going to give me my car back with only the tires rotated. read more

Use at your own risk. Don't expect a "guarantee", and if you have anything done here I'd highly recommend having a serious professional mechanic review their work before you take your vehicle on the highway. Plus, before using them for a major repair, I'd suggest contacting your insurance company to see if you are insured against negligence incurred at a repair shop. These folks not only damaged my car during a routine tire change and refused to fix the problem, when I returned the next day they refused even to provide me with the warranty for the tire that I had purchased from them. The whole thing seemed shady, like they were in the business of ripping people off. The owner, Shan Gill, was particularly interesting. He got involved in a big scene, arguing and yelling, then offered to "fix the problem" but of course was never heard from again despite my multiple attempts at a follow-up. I'm not sure what business his firm SSG Investment Group is involved in, but if it's anything like his Citgo business, it's probably better avoiding altogether. Shan Gill came across as a man who will offer to shake your hand while reaching for your wallet with the other. As you might imagine, I was less concerned with the car problems - these things happen - then the manner in which the management at Columbia Pike Citgo handled it. I was lucky - the damages were minor, I had them fixed elsewhere at little cost, and nobody was hurt by a blowout on the interstate. Hopefully you'll be lucky, too, but it'd probably be much safer & cheaper just to go somewhere else. read more

I have a 2001 Mazda so have been to a lot of the mechanics in the area and these guys are hands down the most honest and cost effective. Jobs that were quoted 500-600 somewhere else they did for less than 200. For state inspections, even with an old car, they do not make up stuff but do give honest long term recommendations and options. Turn around time is also pretty fast and they will work with your schedule. These guys now get all my business. read more

This place is great and he people are so friendly! I came on a Tuesday morning in desperate need of a safety and emissions inspection as my plates were expiring that day. They were able to help me immediately with no wait. It took ten minutes and I passed, but they did have a few recommendations. One of which was replacing my passenger side mirror. We knew we needed a new alternator (we had one in the back seat). We thought we could make it home and try to find a mechanic, but it was raining and the windshield wipers slowed to almost nothing, etc. By chance, we arrived at this Citgo. Zero stars. I agree with other reviewers that the service manager has no customer service skills. I popped in for an inspection. Mechanic in the front bay directed me to drive to the side of the building. I did just that, parked and immediately walked in stating I would like an Inspection. Meanwhile someone else pulled up beside me in a white car. Service manager looked out the window and said, uh, is that your silver car? Yes, I replied. Then back up and pull behind the white car. At this point the owner of that car walked in. I said, wait a minute, I was here first. The "service" manager said, yeah, but that's the line, pointing to the white car. There aren't any signs, I stated. He just shrugged his shoulders. The other customer seemed delighted that he would get served first. I would drive to Roanoke for an Inspection before I would ever set foot in this place again. Glad now that I didn't get my car inspected, based on some of the other negative reviews. I take my car here for all regular maintenance and to diagnose/address any issues it may have. I've always found them to be extremely honest and forthcoming, which is why I don't go anywhere else. For example, about a year ago they replaced my alternator (with a rebuilt one) and I went on my merry way. About 4 months later it failed - at which time it was out of warranty as rebuilt parts are generally only warrantied for 90 days. Despite this, they got me a new one for free (saving me hundreds of dollars) and installed it for 50% off on labor costs. Overall, I really feel like I can trust Zahid (the manager there) and his guys to provide an honest assessment of my options, do a bang up job on repairs, and provide follow-through whenever needed. What else can you really ask for? I can't endorse them highly enough. read more

Some real problems with my experience here. I've used this station in the past for random fill-ups, and noticing that the service side of their business seemed fairly vibrant, I decided to let them handle my annual inspection. The inspection itself was fine, and actually turned up a problem with my driver's side window that needed to be corrected. After receiving an appraisal and detailed description of the work involved, I gave them the go ahead to fix the problem. For what it's worth, the mechanic was excellent, and really went the extra mile to obtain a part for my vehicle. At this point, I was planning on going out of my way to leave a glowing review here on Yelp, which if you're familiar with the average Yelper, you would know is a very difficult thing to motivate. Really, people get a lot more satisfaction out of complaining, and it's easier to do regardless. They called the next day to let me know that the work was complete, and I asked them to fill the tank while they were at it. The problem arose when I went to pick up the vehicle. The bill was for the previously quoted amount w/o the gas. I figured they forgot, and since I really just wanted to get out of there after a long day at work, I paid up and got my keys. When I got the car started, I immediately noticed that a rear view mirror attachment had been removed from my car, and it was nowhere to be found. When I went back in to inquire, I got a slightly incredulous look from the cashier, who promised to ask the mechanics in the morning. The next morning, I got a slightly accusatory call informing me that I'd failed to pay for my gas. I live literally around the block and hadn't looked at my gauge, but they actually had put the gas in, scribbled something on my bill's margin's and forgotten to ring it up. So...their mistake. I ask about my attachment and get a "huh?" No clue what I was talking about. So, I tell them I'll be in to pay for the gas at the end of the week, and in the meantime hopefully they can find the item that mysteriously vanished from my car. When I did go to pay for it, they still claimed ignorance, and I got an even more incredulous look. No apology for removing and proceeding to lose (I'll assume the best here) an object from my vehicle. No apology for inconveniencing me with another visit to the garage in the first place. Certainly no offer to compensate me for the former, which, when I thought about it, is kind of a really basic expectation in auto service...you know, stuff not missing from the car afterward. At any rate, I paid my bill and got out, but the treatment I subsequently received was so poor that it actually managed to eclipse how competently the mechanics repaired my vehicle.
