Our car had a recall due to safety concerns of gas tank exploding. Kevin asked us to bring it in and then informed us they didn't have a part so instead told us he would call when they got the part. After a month we still never heard from Kevin. We called in and talked to Maggie who set up an appointment for us. After we brought the car in Kevin put other cars in front of ours to get fixed because we couldn't afford to wait three hours at the dealership while it was getting fixed. When we came to pick it up after the appointment Kevin informed us that they would not fix it unless we were there to wait even though we had an appointment. Kevin was not helpful at all, if it wasn't for Carmella solving his mistake we would still be driving an unsafe car. This isn't the first issue I have had with Kevin. We all know it's not easy to buy a new car in this day and age. But it was time and I was determined. After my recent rental experience, I knew I wanted a Hyundai, so that narrowed the field. First went to Voss in Dayton and they had no cars. I left my name and wish list and several weeks later still crickets from them. So weird to enter empty show rooms. My son let his fingers do the walking, and culled out several other dealerships due to "incentives" and other nonsense. He was impressed with Columbia and the salesman Chuck. Time for a field trip. I test drove a Genasis, but even though I had one in the past, it just felt like too much car for me. I told Chuck what I wanted, and my favorite color. Lucky for me there was one coming in a week. I reserved it, but never expected it to be so easy. Nothing is in this day and age. Called the day before it was due, and it was in and having protection coating done. Made an appt for next day! Chuck had programmed the car, added stations to radio and SMX, filled with gas, and spent lots of time getting me acquainted with features. Others not so lucky were shopping and finding no cars. I heard the receptionist telling one a trailer came in and every single car on it was sold! It pays to do your homework. I waited one week and I'm driving down the highway looking for adventure.. From the first time I took my Hyundai to this service center, there has been nothing but issues with the car and calls to the service center. I have had 2 loaner cars for many days longer than expected and 1 full day of waiting in the shop for work to be completed. In a recent experience, the service center is unable to provide any support in scheduling a time that will work to have my car serviced. They have miraculously changed (though they said this did not change) their protocol for loaner vehicles but needed my car to be dropped off. Also, their hours do not run as listed as their technicians "head out around 4:00 or 4:30." This whole ordeal was incredibly frustrating for their lack of understanding and flexibility for individuals in need of scheduling support and resulted in me forever taking my business elsewhere. Do not go to this dealership! We used them for service so I can't evaluate the sales department, but with every interaction, I was told a different story by a different person. It was very difficult to speak to a real person over the telephone. I arranged a test drive of a Genesis EV's a week and a half in advance on the web site. I received a text saying I would receive a call. I received a call, confirming the time for the test drive approximately a week later. The day before the test drive, I received another call, confirming that I would really show up as scheduled. When I arrived, the men at the nearby desks asked who my sales person was. I told them I didn't know, I had received calls from a woman. "That must be the concierge service," and I was assigned to the older gentleman. He took me to look at some cars in the showroom, until I said I came for a test drive. When I told him what I wanted to drive an electric vehicle he looked through some paperwork, and said, "oh I'll have to go get that outback." After waiting 15 minutes, he brought the GV 70 up to the door and invited me out to drive it. I invited him to come with me. "Oh by the way," he said, "it only has 11 miles charge, but that should be enough." That kind of pissed me off, but I figured I can get the feel, so we took off. As I pulled out of the lot, I found that the car had almost no power at all. I told him there's something wrong with it. He said he said it was a heavy car. I told him I had driven a number of EVs, and this had no power. He said "Maybe it has no power because the charge is so low." I said "what is the purpose of arranging a test drive if you don't have enough charge to give a test drive." "How about if you come back tomorrow, and I'll make sure it's charged." I told him I was not coming back tomorrow. When we got back, I insisted a talk to a "technician." To be polite, I followed him to a desk where he asked a woman if the low charge explained the lack of power. She nodded that it could explain it. I shook his hand and thanked him and said goodbye. Car had to be towed to the dealership twice within a two week span. The first time, I was told that it was a sensor that they would replace, the second time was the same issue, and the representative told me that there was a class action lawsuit and my car's symptoms perfectly fit those, so it would probably be covered (and that replacing the sensor was the correct 'first step' towards addressing the issue). However, they have now had my car for 8 weeks. Of those 8 weeks, they were EXTREMELY difficult to get a hold of for updates, lost my car (on their own lot) for four days (didn't even call me to let me know they found it -- I had to go to the dealership, find my own car, and let them know where it was), and then now at the end of the 8 weeks, have told me that "there is nothing wrong with your car, but as a *favor* we will only charge you $165" Service department is incredibly difficult to get a hold of, does not return phone calls, and offer no suggestions or alternatives for why my car has broken down repeatedly to the point of needing to be towed in. After this series of interactions, I would strongly recommend that you do not buy from Hyundai, and especially not from this dealership. read more

I took my car to Columbia Hyundai for the routine courtesy maintenance (an oil change and tire rotation). When I got my car back, my phone was no longer linked via Bluetooth as it was when I let the car with service personnel. I returned to the service desk and returned with a service associate. He said that my phone had been removed as a device from the car. He asked if I had used the "forget device" menu option. When I said no, he said that was the only way it would no longer be there, basically accusing me of doing that. Someone at the dealership removed my phone from the device setup. No one should have been in the entertainment system. I will not return to the dealership since I have no confidence in their honesty. read more

I bought a Hyundai Accent the day I turned 18. She's my first baby, and she's visited so many places and done so many things. She's 165,000 miles on her now, and while she runs well, I moved into a different direction and bought a car that better suited my life and needs now. However, since nothing is really wrong with her, I decided to give her to my sister. Where does this anecdote come into play with Columbia Hyundai and it's absolutely deserved one star? Well, I wanted to have a maintenance check done on her before I handed her over. I bring the Hyundai in, thinking it might need some regular maintenance. They call me a day later telling me I need a new ECM because "the wrong one was put in the car." This would cost $2000. Mind you, I bought this car from them in 2012. It has never had an ECM replaced. If the "wrong one" was put in the car, they did that 9 years ago. I stated I'll take the car and that I did not want it replaced. They instantly went into a trade-in spiel that I immediately cut off by stating I had a car and this was a back up. He did not seem ready for answers but accepted them and I picked up my vehicle. I took my car to another auto shop, where they stated there's absolutely nothing wrong in the car - ECM's aren't upgraded in vehicles every year, so it completely makes sense to have a 2012 ECM in a 2013 vehicle. I paid nothing and I have a perfectly usable car for my sister. I have had bad experience after bad experience since about 2015 from this dealership - the first 3 years of owning my car, they were perfectly fine. It all started to go downhill after a couple years, and I took my car to auto shops instead. I've dealt with curt servicemen & a customer service desk with the nastiest attitudes, but nothing could top the audacity of Columbia Hyundai's service center in trying to con me this bad. Absolute worst service I've ever had to tolerate. I bought my car here which was pretty easy. Nothing special- good or bad. The free service on the car is where I have had a nightmare. My "customer rep" Holly was terrible. She I would forget to call me when my car was ready, having a simple repair that was supposed to take hours and my car would end up there overnight, me having to procure my own car as they didn't want to give me a loaner for a "quick repair". One such time, my car was supposed to be ready the same day. At 5 when I called to pick up, they said it would take til the next day and gave me a loaner car. They didn't call me back for an entire week. I understand it can take longer, but they never even called to update me. Every time I called Holly was at lunch or away from her desk and I was assured I would get a call. No one else would answer my questions as apparently only she could do that (stupid). I spoke to the service manager and let him know my frustration- he didn't seem surprised at how terrible Holly was, yet kept her on as my rep. The latest problem with my car is the same as the last repair they did- my EPB light is coming in while driving. I called the 5th of December to schedule something, and was told they wouldn't have a loaner car until December 20. I spoke at length with a man named Tyler who saw the issues I've had in the past and said he he would get with the GM and service manager to speed this up. No one has ever called back. My car still has this problem, but I've had to travel for work so can't do anything. Absolute incompetence at this point. I've tried to talk to the service manager to avoid bashing them on social media, but it's gotten me no where, so here we are. read more

The Hundai service warranty of a free oil change every 7500 miles is misleading and inaccurate. Our 2022 Sante Fe is at Columbia Hundai today for an oil change at 12, 500 miles. The first change was at 5000 miles. I was informed by the service desk that there would be a $55 charge for today's service because it is too early for the 15,000 mile change as required by Hundai. The service manager then agreed to do this change at no charge. However, inorder to get back on the Hundai service guideline we will have to pay for another oil change after going another 2500 miles. Columbia Hundai DID NOT inform us of this policy when we scheduled the first oil change when the car was 8 months old and had over 5000 miles. The next oil change for the next 7500 miles would be at 20,000 miles. The Columbia Hundai service manager said that Hundai will not accept that as meeting their guidelines. We will have to have another oil chage in 2500 miles and pay for it! For accuracy purposes the Hundai policy should be stated as the following: 4 free oil chages for new cars as long as they are done at exactly 7500 miles, 15000 miles, 22500 miles, and 30,000 miles. If you get your oil change early YOU PAY. Columbia Hundai has a responsibility to explain specifics of the Hundai oil change if they impact the cost of future service. They did not inform us. My suggestion to Hundai is that a better policy would be that you get 4 free oil changes as long as they are "at or before" each 7500 miles. What if you have done some "hard driving" and want an early oil change. Is it best to wait until you reach a 7500 mile increment, or run your engine with "dirty oil"? read more

This dealership is no frills, bottom line, let's make a deal. I don't feel pressured when I go in. They offer their best price and work with you to make the payments extremely transparent without trying to sucker you in to something you don't want. True, it's not the prettiest dealership. They don't offer much additional incentive like free maintenance or car washes and don't have very many amenities while waiting. BUT you can get a water, WiFi and a place to sit. That's why they can give you a better deal! Spending less money on crap no one cares about. You get what you pay for and if you want a good price on a car, this is a great place. 2014 WHITE HONDA PILOT, 114K MILES NEEDS SIGNIFICANT WORK - BUYER BEWARE I'm a disabled senior on a fixed income. I was pretty sure I couldn't be financed because my debt to income ratio would be too great. That's how low my income is. But I have my deceased mother's 2019 Honda CRV Touring model to trade in. It has 30k miles and needs a crunched front bumper fixed. Once that's done it's worth $30-32k in private sale, according to KBB. I'd already received an offer of $28k from another dealer who didn't ask that I have my insurance repair it but Columbia did and I was perfectly willing. Columbia offered me $27k and a rebate for my $500 deductible for getting it fixed through their bodyshop, in exchange for a 2014 Honda Pilot touring with 114k miles. There is $7780 still due on the CRV, which seemed to surprise the salesman. (Really?) After the trade and payoff, I would still have owed Columbia $3717. I also needed a warranty and they found me a really good one. It was only $2700, but that meant my out of pocket would be more than $6550. That's a big chunk of change for me and very close to the $7700 I owed on the CRV anyway. They allowed me to take it to a Honda mechanic who discovered that not only did it need the regularly scheduled maintenance items, including timing belt replacement, dirty and low fluids, that would have run nearly $2500, but the axle needed to be replaced at $4-600, as well. I asked them to NOT reimburse me for the $500 deductible for the repair of the CRV and to trade me straight across-the-board, allowing me to cover the repairs and maintenance instead of paying the cash for a vehicle that needed nearly $3100 of work. That's only $600 difference from the amount they wanted me to pay anyway. I also offered to buy the warranty. I was curtly told to return the Pilot and take my vehicle, and to do so before 5pm. They had nearly insisted I take the blamed thing home. So I, a senior disabled woman, spent most of the day on the road and at my Honda dealership, because I live almost an hour away, and spent $120 on an inspection that their mechanic could have done, and may well have but no repairs were made. Apparently the oil leaking from the boot was quite apparent. This dealer would have let me take this vehicle and get stuck with the repairs. I would like to compliment Tom, my salesman, who made a good effort to take care of me. Thank you. read more

I normally take my Hyundai to the dealer I bought it from in Dayton, but I had an issue with the Windshield washer fluid not working and with schedule couldn't make it to Dayton and didn't want to drive around like that very long. Would be warranty work anyways so called these guys. The 1 star is for the fact they got me in same day. From the minute I got here it seemed nobody here likes their job, everyone seemed stressed and unhappy. They did a bunch of car walk arounds at check in, but it felt more like a cover our ass type of thing. I waited 45 mins for them to re-attach the fluid hose. At check out when I asked why it might have come undone I got a "its just fixed" answer. I also asked them to check some condensation in the headlight. When I asked about that issue at check out they instantly became defensive with the response "both a mechanic and manager looked at it and we won't be replacing the headlight, there's nothing there". I asked if I could show them where I saw the issue, NOPE. This interaction appeared so offensive to others in the waiting room I had a guy pull me aside and warn me how they put off your issue until the warranty expires and its too late to fix. I have to say that my experience with Columbia hyundai has been one of the best experiences with car buying, servicing, etc!! First of all, Jack McFarland was by far the most knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and extremely friendly car salesman I have ever interacted with. Not only was he honest and fair, after I bought the car, he showed me how every single feature worked on the car. He also gave me his cell phone number so that I could text him if I ever had a question about a feature or how something works. And I have used it, and he always answers and helps me out. A week before my car was one year old, someone hit me in a parking lot. And I had to call the collision department. Fran Watson was the friendliest and most helpful person to deal with, especially when you are not happy about your car being wrecked. She was knowledgeable and super personable and kept me incredibly informed. I received my car back within about eight days. My car had $7000 worth of damage and they still got it done during the Covid crisis. However, some of my sensors still needed calibrating after they replaced everything. Fran helped me out again and told me to call the service department and that they would take care of everything for me. I just called to make an appointment where I talked to the friendliest service person. I do not know his name but he took time to laugh and have a conversation with me and to be more than accommodating to my schedule. I cannot say enough great things about this place. Hyundai was not even on my radar when I went to buy a car. I am so glad I went there and I am so glad I purchased my Hyundai palisade because I absolutely love my car. My day of hoping to advance the search for a new car has been less than ideal. Twice now I have visited this location to browse a new vehicle, the first time I was treated as an uninterested customer. This go around may be even worse. We pulled up to the dealership to see three men standing outside the main entrance, two of which were smoking (in front of the main entrance! Can you believe it?) They observe us park and proceed to go inside. We started to walk around the lot looking at some vehicles, and after about 5 minutes go inside. I understand not greeting as we walked outside since it was pretty cold, but we were inside for another 5 minutes browsing the showroom, looking through pamphlets etc., not a single person said hello or asked if we needed any help. I guess the salesmen must've all hit their quota this year because I've never been to a dealership that didn't try to get to you as soon as possible. (I know people can be busy but seeing as there was time for a smoke break, I would think there's time to say hello.) read more

I used to really like this dealership and had many great visits in the past. Sadly it has really gone downhill. From the ticket writer to almost all the employees they just seem miserable. I just want an oil change. Simple right? Not so I fear. Damage to my car license plate? How the heck do you bend the crap out of a license plate? It was sticking almost straight out?!?! I check oil level first thing in the morning the next day before starting it and amazed at how high it is on my dipstick. So I call and ask about and talked to Bob Brautigan and said sorry can you bring it back in? I'm glad they are willing to fix it but am wondering if I want them to touch my car again. I've never been to this dealership before but I showed up and Chris got me right in. He also told me that there was a sensor recall and they could do it while I was here if I wanted. They neglect to list this on there web site so when you go to see a car they have no inventory to show you and try to get you to look at something else. It's a 2 star service rating for me. My first oil change on my 22 Veloster N with 786 miles. I wanted to change the oil since I was done with my break-in period. I paid for it since this was not a required service. I did tell them to not overfill and that was why they at least got a couple stars. When the service was done, I got to my car, there was oil hand marks on my fenders and apparent oil markings within the interior. The steering wheel, the door handles and my shift knob. all had hand oil smear marks. Not the biggest deal but the lack of attention to detail to customers' super brand new vehicles, I'm never coming back. I don't want freebies, the best way to deal with it is not to go back. My records for myhyundai/com was not even updated which is one of the reasons why I went to a local dealership to do my maintenance. Avoid like the plague. We bought a Hyundai from Voss in Dayton but because of the distance took it here for service. Never again, in for a simple oil change they found a tire had a 'bubble'. Ok well and good, told them we would replace the tire. Go in for the appt to change the tire and they had ordered the wrong tire BUT rather than tell us that upfront they let us wait 2 hours. Very anoying but they did discount the tire $50. Then driving home the car displays a warning on battery discharge, call them and they say oh someone must have left the accessories on and drained the battery, just drive it a long time and it should go off but if it doesn't, call us. Not the level of service I expect and makes me wonder about the skill of their techs. Gave it one star only because zero was not an option. read more

It's not as though something bad happened they just aren't smiling, welcoming and friendly. Mike the check in guy is just Ehhhh doesn't smile, doesn't say good morning. Darrick was the only one that had a nice smile and spoke upbeat. When I went to checkout I stood at the window for a couple of minutes while the lady Claudia behind the counter was working on some paperwork then she looked up at me and just said "Yes"......I told her, they said my car was ready...."what's your last name?" Do NOT buy a vehicle from Columbia Acura Hyundai. I bought a used 2005 MINI cooper from them, and within 2 months, the transmission exploded. After getting into the BMW / MINI shop, the mechanic discovered that the transmission had been covered with JB WELD. The axle was out of a junkyard, there were bolts cut on the axle, and the power steering fan was missing from the vehicle. The cost of repairs was over $4500.00 When I brought this to the attention of the used car manager, he basically laughed. Went back to have my car repaired. They found the issue which was not covered under warranty but went the extra mile and called their Rep and got it approved. Saved me $600-$800 Speaks volumes. Will definitely come back for all future repairs and even car purchases. Have a dealership right by my house but will drive the extra miles. read more

Really not impressed. Called to make an appointment to have my Genesis Coup looked at. The man who took my information seemed to be bothered by my phone call. I chalked it up to maybe he was having a bad day. Today I went for my appointment. Again I was treated as if they were doing me a favor by looking at my car. The man then looked up my car on the "website" pretty official if you ask me. I was told my car was out of the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. I said it is a 2013 and this is 2018 not sure how that is. WELL HE SAID IT IS HERE ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE. Printed it out and pushed it towards me while "starring" the place where it stated my warranty started in July of 2012. O.K. gosh that settles it then, doesn't it. Ok but I still want my car fixed. But he acted like maybe I might not be able to pay him for it myself. Attitude makes the interaction go well or not go well. His was not one I would expect from a person who is in customer service.
