You order and pay at the counter and they bring the food to you. The menu is pretty extensive with pork and brisket, 2 kinds of ribs, sandwiches, burgers, wings and more. I have stopped at Colt's Pig Stand in Ormond Beach (right off I95) roughly three times in the past few years. Each and every time I have loved all the food served to me. I was traveling home from a wedding in Orlando. My friend suggested a place near Daytona and when we exited the interstate I knew exactly where we were going. We ordered smoked wings and a rib platter. A ton of food! It was my first time having the wings and they were amazing. The smoked flavor can't be beat! With the rib platter we ordered mac and cheese and Granny's greens. The ribs were falling off the bone delicious! The mac and cheese was smooth and creamy and Granny's greens were seasoned to perfection! They have a small seating area outside in addition to inside seating. But beware of the crazy squirrel who will try to get on your table LOL! If you're traveling between Jacksonville and anywhere in South Florida this is a must stop! So you know how when you're really hungry snd order food to be delivered to you and then when you get it it you eat it because you're starving but it's a disappointment. Well this ain't this place. I'm telling ya! The ribs were bone sucking good and seriously flavorful. In addition they are coated with sauce that is slap yo momma good! The St. Louis style ribs were savory, succulent and fall off the bone tender! I've been known to swing by a fast food joint when traveling. Boy, am I glad I found this place on Yelp because I feasted HARD. Based on the name, I expected more of a traditional roadside stand. However, I was greeted by a ginormous restaurant near the Harley Davidson facility. The weather was just to my liking, so I opted to sit outside. Lord Almighty these ribs were unbelievable. Copious chunks of meat on the bone and a mighty fine smoke was just what the doctor ordered. I believe the platter ran me $11, which is a great deal. As for sides, Mac & Green Beans were on the brain. In comparison to the ribs, these fell a bit short. The Mac had potential, because they were creamy AF. However, you could tell they were sitting for a while, and more on the cool side. Beans were cooked right, just not a ton of flavor, in my opinion. Remember to order at the counter, I saw multiple people wait around outside looking for servers. It's a casual restaurant, with a "bigger badder" atmosphere. MMMMMM.. no. We stopped by on our way back from Orlando. I wasn't expecting much but it underserved my already low expectations. I don't know what to say except the food..., meats and sides weren't good. I ended up ordering another dish...( the kids meal grilled cheese and fries) to at least eat something and that wasn't even good. The tea was o.k. Hit the pig stand before they close for renovations for a week. Been to the pigstand quite a few time and always get really good bbq. It has a great location at destination Daytona area so all the bike and car events are covered. Fast service, great menu selections, good beer selections. I had the rib combo which are the st louis ribs and baby backs. Both sets of ribs are just super tender and fall right off the bone. Sides were collared greens and Brunswick stew. Nice that the stew can be a side and not get upcharged. When in the area for events (biketober fest is coming up!) Try the pigstand for a good taste of bbq. read more

On one of my over the road trips I saw this BBQ joint and decided to check it out because of it's close proximity to the Loves truck stop. The service here was pretty good despite all the Covid-19 restrictions. They actually have limited seating so you can sit down and enjoy your meal. Now to the nitpicky part of my review. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich was damned good. However the side items were bland and didn't taste very good. But that seems to be a common problem for so many BBQ restaurants. Either they have good BBQ and bad side items or vice versa . The price was pretty good. A two meat plate with a drink is right around $15. They also had pretty interesting decor in the restaurant. What's one to do on a stormy Friday night when the ground is shaking from thunder and spectacular lightning is striking all around you? To get barbecue of course I have to admit that we miss the San Francisco Bay Area. Sure, there are a handful of folks that we truly miss, however, what we miss the most is the cuisine. You would be hard pressed to find another food town that is even close; Asian, Mexican, Dungeness Crab is what we jones for here on a daily basis. Florida is hardly the culinary destination that San Francisco is. That said, there are a couple of things that are unsurpassed here; Steak, Fish, and the Barbecue, They really know how to do barbecue down here in the heart of Dixie. So I braved the weather and headed over to Colt's Pig Stand that is located at the Bruce Rossmeyer's Daytona Harley Davidson complex. Interestingly. the Daytona Harley Davidson dealer isn't located in Daytona at all. It's in Ormond Beach 7 miles up the road. It's a sprawling complex that includes an open air pavillion that features national touring acts like Jamey Johnson, the Allman Betts Band, and The Wailers. Anyway, Colt's Pig Stand offers every kind of meat that could be put in a smoker. In fact, they have what I think might be the world's largest smoker. COV-19 has really hit the restaurants here and in response Colt's Pig Stand has some incredible specials such as a full rack of of ribs and two sides for 13.99. The rack was cut into three large pieces (like 19 ribs) and Colt's Pig Stand's sauces are superb. I go for the sweet sauce and the come out of nowhere smokey hot one. They offer dine in at 50% capacity but the place was pretty empty so I ordered 2 orders to go. The ribs were so tender that they fell off the bone. My partner doesn't enjoy ribs as much as I do but agreed that these are pretty good. (that's as much as an approval that you're going to get from her). However, my husband and i were eyeing this place. Dude. The best BBQ we've ever had. We were greeted and explained how it works. You go up to the counter and order. Grab a number and sit down. They take care of the rest. We both got the 2 meat combo dinners. So delicious. You can taste the smokiness from the meat. Didn't even need a knife for the brisket. Fell apart like butter. The Mac and cheese was amazing. And the corn pudding I highly recommend. The corn bread was ok. Going to try the garlic toast next time. We decided to sit outside and it was so nice. Very nice patio. I really thought I had left a review after our first visit here, but maybe I was in such a food haze that I dreamed it! This is a stop we make whenever we can on our way to/from Orlando or down this strip of highway. Family is very fond of BBQ, and this satisfies that craving. Right off the highway in a large shopping/hotel/food area, so easy to reach. Pretty large seating area indoor and out. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. Be sure to check out the specials board, they always have something that sounds great on there. I have tried a few things here. I'm especially fond of their Burnt Pig Sandwich. Half burnt ends (brisket) and half pulled pork, with coleslaw and jalapeños. My only complaint, and it has happened more than once, is due to the coleslaw not being drained very well, the bottom bun is basically worthless by the time it hits the table. it is a mushy mess. Toasting it a bit more and draining the coleslaw might help. I always end up asking for another bun so that I can eat it like a sandwich. I had their new corn on the cob side and it was cooked just right. Hubby got the rib lunch this time. 4 rib pieces with two sides and Texas Toast. He said the ribs were very good and he enjoyed them quite a bit. He added some of my jalapeños to his mac and cheese side for a little added heat. Okra (up charged side) was fresh, hot, and crispy. Service has been good and nonexistent during our visits, so not sure if it's the day or time that makes a difference. We've had to visit the counter for requested items more than once, but the staff is always friendly and courteous. We will be back to try other menu items in the future. We ended up here while visiting my sister in Ormond Beach. My only regret was that we had to leave the area and would no longer be able to dine at Colt's. The place was not crowded when we arrived and we promptly ordered our food, got our drinks, and sat down at the table of our choice. The food came out quickly and the wife and I divided up our pulled pork platter. The pork was tender and delicious and the sauces only enhanced its flavor. The name "Pig Stand" makes me think of slow smoking barbecue on my dad's charcoal pit based with a sauce by the same name while growing up, and although nothing can come close to that or those memories I have to admit I was really impressed with what's being served up here. I've always found the line up and order at the counter to be rather strange and awkward especially when it appears there is plenty of staff on hand taking orders, delivering food from the kitchen to the tables and keeping all the tables clean as the tables turn but it seems to work fine here. I guess this format guarantees the restaurant will get their money before the food's prepared and delivered or P.B.Y.E. (Pay Before You Eat) lol. So if you're planning on skipping out on the check or if your credit card is declined you aren't getting a free meal here - on second thought it maybe somewhat genius from a business perspective. We walked in around 6:00 PM and was immediately greeted and directed to the single lane runway to the counter I don't think herded is the appropriate term but it kinda felt that way since some of those in front of us weren't prepared to make a food decision and finally motioned us to go around them, so we stepped up to register number one and met the friendly young ladies running the dual cash registers. This was rather painless I admit but then again I was drinking iced tea what is the process if I was planning to drink a few beers - "pay as you go"? I don't know the answer, just saying. The staff here is really friendly and accommodating and all the food came out in a reasonable amount of time and all of it was still at the perfect temperature. The staff checked in a few times so the service is very attentive without being disruptive would be a good description. We enjoyed the smoked chicken, beef brisket and baby back pork ribs all came without sauce as we requested. The portions were good and the smoky flavors were perfect distributed, all the meats were moist, tender and delicious. The green beans and coleslaw were both above average making this a great dining experience. I am not a huge bbq fan but I tried it. I first got the chicken tenders and coleslaw. The coleslaw came warm, and it had no flavor whatsoever. It was bland and boring. Then the chicken tenders were dry and the breading fell right off, that shouldn't happen. Chicken should never be that dry where I don't even finish one bite. Food Review: Presentation wise it looked just like normal and what you would expect from a BBQ house. Taste: Personally, my beef brisket was a little dry. I ended up dousing mine with their sweet sauce. The portion was good! My bfs sandwiches were dry especially the pulled pork. It didn't even taste anything. It was bland. The chicken was just okay. My wife wanted chicken wings, and I wanted to bbq so we gave Colt's a shot. The chicken wings were good, we went with sweet and sassy. The wings were cooked good, and the sauce had a a sweet heat. I ordered a 3 meat platter because I like to try everything. I went with Brisket, Pulled Pork and Turkey. So I went in for the brisket first, it was tender but one it didn't have all the salt normally associated with smoked meat, so next I tried the pork, again tender, not as salty and same with the turkey. So I am not really a sauce guy per say, I prefer a dry rub and smoke flavor on my bbq. This meat needed the sauce. I think I had sweet and it was good.
