Love this place! Amy (the owner) is wonderful. She takes the time to get to know everyone who comes into her shop and treats them like gold. I have been coming to this salon for over four years and they go above and beyond for me. I used to get shellac and now I get gel nails and the techs are perfectionists' with true attention to detail, plus if the polish chips they will fix it for free. The pedicures are truly a wonderful experience with warm towels, hot stones, and an abundance of fun colours for both manicures and pedicures. The women who work here are dedicated and love what they do. Highly recommend. read more

Made an appointment for shellac mani and regular pedi. They were on time with my appointment which I appreciated. They had a large selection of shellac colors. Like ALOT! They were so sweet and friendly. The pedicure was relaxing. The Paraffin and green tea scrub were so nice. She was very detailed with the cuticles. My shellac mani was perfect. This is my second visit to Canada and I was nervous about getting my nails done because I didn't know where would be a good shop to go to. I found color nails on Yelp and was interested in it because it was close to where I was staying. It is a small shop but the lady who did my nails was so nice and friendly. She made sure that she did my nails exactly the way I wanted them and had no problems when I told her I wanted something changed a bit. On a particularly crummy day, I took myself out for a pedicure. I walked in to Colour Nail & Spa and they got me in right away. The price is definitley right, $30 for a pedicure! Fantastic. The salon is clean and bright and the girls are SO FRIENDLY. Tina, who did mine was fantastic, thorough and did a wonderful job. She was also really sweet. I recently moved to Calgary from Toronto and needed a new nail place, so based on Yelp reviews I choose Color Nails - a mistake. I have been to this nail salon three times. The first time it took them 1 hour and 45 minutes to remove and replace a shellac manicure, I let it go because the woman explained they were short staffed for the day. I made another appointment to come back the following week for a pedicure. The first thing I found distasteful was upon choosing a nail color the nail tech told me it was ugly and chose another one for me. I did like the color she chose and went ahead with it but still found it slightly bold that she would interject in such a way. The second thing that occurred was the nail tech cut a huge part of my big toe cuticle. The cut was bleeding and hurt for three days afterwards. Again, I stupidly made another appointment to get a new shellac manicure yesterday. I called to book the appointment for 5:30 as to not have to rush out of work, the owner Christine asked me to come in for 5:15 which I accommodated. Upon arriving on time I was waiting for 10 minutes, so it's now 5:25 and I rushed out of the office for no reason. I then asked Christine, who was working on someone else if she could at least begin the process of removing my previous shellac, since I was just sitting and waiting anyways and she told me this: "if you want a salon that starts their appointments exactly on time, then you can go somewhere else." I then asked if she was requesting I take my business elsewhere and she responded with "I don't know, up to you." Then another nail tech came over and buffed most of my previous shellac off and then did an extremely rushed job. When she was finished I pointed out to her that she had painted over a portion of my skin which would lead to the shellac easily peeling off. Instead of re - doing the nail she just cut a big dent into my nail and now the one nail looks totally uneven. I told her that it looked bad and she just said "ok." Overall this place is too busy and understaffed to do a decent job and are hugely disrespectful. If you're anything like me and think getting your nails done is a nice treat, avoid this place there is nothing pleasant about it. read more

This place goes by the name 'Colours'. I love the ladies here! So kind and funny. My girlfriend and I go every other week. They serve us jasmine tea and make small talk :) Mani/pedi is $40; great price in my opinion. I work with my hands and my mani lasts 2 weeks! They shape my nails and trim my cuticles perfectly. They sterilize every piece of equipment they use after every use ( in a sterilizer, not just sterilizing fluid). I debated not posting anything about this biz so I could keep them all to myself... But they deserve the compliments. read more

This place is really hit or miss. Sometimes you get a great pedi and sometimes you could get the same results at home. If you book an appointment for your lunch hour, expect to be there a lot longer than an hour. As appointments don't seem to matter much. read more

Absolute worst salon I've ever been to in all my 10+ years of having artificial nails . I am a fairly understanding individual, so I tried to give the salon a second chance after my first experience with them. First experience was the lady rushing me in and out for a fill in under 30 minutes ( WOW, what service )... upon 3 nails in after starting my fill at my appointment. - the lady notifies me that they have to take all the nails off and I will be charged a full set fee. Now , this didn't give me much choice at this point , as the lady already had prepped three nails in by this point . I kindly asked to have a shellac coating to get my by for my event that evening and I would return back to my general salon for my regular nail fill. What a complete sham and cheap service salon ! The worst nail experience I have ever had. I am a woman that has been getting my nails done for over 7 years, and never have I seen a professional act so rude towards a customer. Firstly I asked her how much the price was to simply get my gel nails taken off (after previously have them done there), and she told me a price more expensive than most places to simply have my nails removed. I told her that was expensive but to just continue anyways. After I had obviously been shocked by her price, the main chatty woman kept looking over and glaring at me. She finally said, "if you don't like our prices you can leave." After I had just told her it was alright and to continue..... Also, the girl doing my nails was incredibly slow, Another girl had come in 10 minutes after me, and she was finished her nails being taken off 10 minutes before me ! Meanwhile, I had my fingers soaking in NAIL POLISH REMOVER for over 20 minutes! Sorry, but soaking my finger nails in a toxic poison for that long is not my idea of a day at the spa. Horrible. I was becoming upset at this point for being there almost 30 minutes just to have my nails taken off in the worst way possible, When the chatty Asian lady, who had just finished doing another lady's nails came over to me. Now I can say I did not look happy by this point but I was in no way being rude.. But to top it all off she suddenly started yelling at me INFRONT of her remaining customers ! She had clearly mistaken me with someone else because she said "every time you come here you not happy !!!! If you don't like our service don't come back again !!! We don't need you here !!! Every time you come!!" That was interesting considering that was only my second time there.... I suggest to anyone never to go back unless you want to risk offending the Asian lady and have her start yelling at you infront of other customers. Super unprofessional ! read more

THIS IS ALSO KNOWN AS MODERN NAILS ON YELP IT IS CURRENTLY CALLED: COLOR NAIL & SPA please don't go here. I went in today for a fill. she asked if I has gel nails I said gel top then she told me she would take off and do a new set for me, i asked whats the difference and she said its better come i do it for you. no mention of a higher price. this was after we asked how much for a fill btw which was $42. she had her assistant or whoever file off my nails and she took forever!!! like 45 mins to file off my nails, it got too hot too many times and it hurt like hell. then she came over and started to file my nails more. I stopped her and said my nails are super sore now and I don't think you need to file them anymore please. she began a speech on how other nail salons should tell me that I need to take them off more often and they are sensitive because I get them done too much... i just ignored her and she went about her thing. she would tug my fingers ans arms aggressively and get annoyed when my hand wasn't far enough towards her. she twisted and turned my finger hard and it hurt. then after she put the tips on she used a hand file to file the sides of my nails, so hard that my fingers are raw and some bleeding. I stopped her so many times ive lost count at this point. she is annoyed and being short with me now. not sure why, shes hurting me and im asking her to stop. fast forward to the end of the torture. she ended up telling me that I now owe $68!!! what! she proceeded to tell me I should know how much this stuff costs because I get this done all the time. I said no it is never this much and I wish you would have told me that it was an up-charge and my $42 would now be closer to $70!!! what bs. she was so rude about it. my fingers are sore, raw and sooo sensitive that when I went outside they immediately started to sting and throb. as I type this it is painful. I get my nails done all the time. I know that this is NOT normal. Im super disappointed and hope you avoid this place. there are many other good salons down the street that wont rip you off and leave you injured! read more

I was disappointed with the service here. The lady's where very nice, and the place was clean, but I didn't get what I asked for. When the gal asked me if the length and shape (square) was good on that nail I said yes, but then she proceeded to make all my other nails much shorter and much more round - not the style I like. When it came to the end result - even with the color, it still wasn't what I wanted. She did try and fix it, and the style does look nice but again. I want to walk out feeling I got what I paid for and that wasn't the case here. One thing that did really, really bothered me was the lady doing my nails kept coughing, and I am not sure if they are aware but even when you wear a mask germs can still go through the mask. It reduces the rate viruses can be passed, but it doesn't completely stop them (especially when we are entering cold a flu season). She didn't make any attempt to turn her head or put her arm up in any way. It felt like she was coughing in my face. So that is why I gave them only a 1 star rating, otherwise I would have moved it up to a 3. This is the first place I have ever had give me a small hand massage at the end, although she put an oil on my hand without asking me, and I have had very bad reactions to certain oils, especially when they have a fragrance. So as soon as I got home I washed my hands. I like the thought, but that is something I feel should be asked about prior and not assumed. read more

Loved it. Recommended by a coworker, I decided to go in for a shellac manicure here as I have an upcoming vacation. Made an appointment, they weren't very busy when I got in. They were all very sweet and welcoming, Christine (maybe the owner?) introduced herself by name and did a great job. They even offered to put Christmas-y designs on my two ring fingers. I chose a snowflake and a Christmas tree and they did a fantastic job. I will be back! read more

Formerly 'Modern Nails' and now Colour Nail and Spa... the staff is lovely, but $90 for a manicure/pedicure shellac... not to mention the $10 they charge to remove the shellac because it isn't theirs. SO we've got a grand total of $105 including tax and that doesn't even include the tip at the end of the day. This pricing is right on par with Butter and the Still Water spa, minus the relaxing environment. Not worth it. Complete rip off. read more

Had a bad experience, I got an infection in my nail. I've been going to them and to be honest they were nice but they never got my appointments on time. I always had to wait.at first I did not mind, but with this infection i am definitely not going back. read more

This was a very disappointing experience. I will say the ladies were very friendly, however a little over there head. We made an appointment for 2:30 and sat in the chairs with our feet soaking as they finished two other pedicures and then their manicure. It took an hour before they came and did our nails. After the hour, they started with my sister, they did not remove any dead skin, they were clearly rushing as before she even started with my sister, they told another client waiting they would be with her in ten minutes. After my sisters 15 minute pedicure, 20 minutes later, a woman finally started mine. She also did a very poor job on my as well. To say the least, it was $60 dollars down the drain, and 2 hours I will never get back. read more
