A fun experience! Definitely on the pricier side and found it frustrating that we had to ask for paint rather than helping ourselves (though I understand how that could get messy). I love how my bowl turned out!

Pros: We called at the last minute on a winter Saturday for a group of 6 painters and they got us in right away. Easy to find location and plenty of parking even in busy Clay Terrace. Love the windows and brightly lit room. Challenges: I think part of the fun is choosing your own paint colors, getting what you need, finding stamps, using different utensils, etc. At this location the staff pours the paint for you. There are no 'extras.' I completely understand wanting to cut back on waste. However, I think older kids can distinguish how much is needed. We were constantly needing more paint and it seemed like the staff felt frustrated by that. I find this place to be overpriced. We've done pottery before and have made it out the door for about $30 per child with nice sized pieces. Many of the items here were well over $50 and didn't include the studio fee. My niece spent an hour working on her donut using different colors for the base and frosting, and meticulously painting the sprinkles. I got a call a week after we completed the pottery and was told the 'donut didn't make it.' I understand these things happen but this was a first for us and was super disappointing.

My brother and I brought my mom here for a Mother's Day gift/activity and it was so much fun!!! We got to create a ceramic Christmas tree that we will have forever. I would definitely recommend it! When you walk in, you are able to pick whatever table you want and the people working come bring you as much paint as you need. I also found their experience to be very helpful in terms of how many coats we would need to make it look good and their general advice as well. The reason I am not giving five stars is because I felt like the pricing on the website before we arrived was slightly misleading, so it ended up being more expensive than I planned. I also had a hard time finding parking because it is located at a mall and I was unaware that we would have to park in the back. However, I will definitely go back because I had a ton of fun making those memories with my mom and brother!

There are many options on what to paint and you can paint anything you want! You pick out what you want to paint then choose your colors!

Empty on a week night which I thought would be good so we could get some guidance on what we wanted to paint. I have been to other studios around town and I was bringing a first timer with me. Took awhile before someone emerged from the back room and said "let me know when you are ready". We had to ask about everything, no info given up front about the process or the prices. I only knew to ask these questions based on my other experiences elsewhere. Pricing seems high to me for not getting any help from staff. I asked if I could create something like one of there examples and she didn't know how to create it! Made me wonder if it was actually painted there or not. The staff have to give you the paint. So one teaspoon of paint isn't going to cover a whole lot of surface area. Had to keep asking for more which included waiting for staff to come out of the back room. if I'm going to spend that amount of money on some creativity time, I will be spending it where I feel welcome and can get the supplies I need to get the job done.

They have lots of fun pieces to choose from, but it is on the pricier side compared to other pottery places, and you have to pay a studio fee.

If you want a fun activity on the Indy Northside, look no further!…read more I came here with a group of colleagues for a fun night out from the lab. It was a nice social activity that also allowed moments of quiet to focus on your piece. I find this dynamic kind of nice because I'm not one to talk endlessly even when I'm with my friends. They have tons of pieces to choose from, ranging in price and size, so you can make this activity as much as you want to get out of it. There's no studio fee, so glazes and kiln services are included with your price. They have just about all the colors of glaze, which have a display on the wall by the glaze bottles. The staff are all very friendly, Brooke and Fernando were especially attentive to us throughout the evening. They made sure to help keep our workspace tidy and helped with some glazing and artistic touches. Importantly, we never felt rushed with the process, which helped us feel like we could make something we're proud of. They also have some glass fusing stuff as well, so you can make some kinds of mosaic glass lamp shades (or at least that's what was shown throughout the space). I'm curious how that's priced, because that would be another cool outing! Pottery pieces take about a week to be fired in the kiln, so I don't have my masterpiece back yet. I'm very excited to receive it! They also provide shipping, so if you're a little further away, you can still get your piece. I'm sure I'll be back again before too long!

First time I took our oldest two to Creative Escape was a hoot. We went with our Kiwanis club to…read moremake bowls to donate to Habitat for Humanity fundraising efforts. It was so much fun! I was really worried because at the time, my second-oldest was about to turn 4. So ... to say the least, I had visions of him tearing through the store, breaking everything in his path. Boy, was I wrong. These kids--all the kids, in fact--were absolutely enthralled and taken by the pottery painting. They all sat up at the tables together, with the adults, and painted bowls to donate to a good cause. It was a great time and a wonderful learning experience. But not only that, the kids made the most beautiful bowls! Even better than the adults. Know why? We adults TRIED TOO HARD. Kids are kids and make the most creative pieces every time. I love to see how the bowls look after they're painted--usually a mess. But it's the most fantastic transformation to see how your bowl (or other ceramic of your choice, including figurines, plates, plaques, mugs, etc.) turns out after it has been fired in the kiln. When we picked up all the Kiwanis club members' bowls, we were blown away. The color is so deep and fantastic on every single one. Head to Creative Escape next time you need a good gift for a loved one. We've gone back several times (And my husband has snuck all three boys out to make me the best Mother's Day gifts EVER ... handmade masterpieces) and plan to make plates for the grandmas until they have an entire set of homemade dishes. What a wonderful gift! NOTE: You don't need a reservation. Walk right in! (Reservations are suggested for large groups.) Thursday night is Ladies Night from 6-9 p.m.

My son's teacher held a gathering here for his first grade class. The manager and another employee…read morewere present. They were unfriendly, unenthusiastic, impatient, and generally disinterested. Neither employee engaged with a single child. They couldn't even bothered to smile, let alone say "thank you." I volunteered to pay for two pieces they said had been painted by other group members who ostensibly left without paying. (Neither employee recognized my generosity in doing so--which in part saved them some headache. These were very small pieces. Given that it was their error in not properly collecting payment from each partygoer, they ought to have just written it off.) We later discovered that one of the pieces had not, in fact been painted. Rather than apologize for their error, the employee made a snide remark about it being the customer's fault. I'm still not convinced that the other piece was unpaid for--rather I think they probably made a clerical error given their lack of organization. The employee who supervised the party also complained about the noise. Perhaps she expected first graders to paint in silence. The manager never left her perch on the stool behind the desk. It must not have occurred to her that her associate might need assistance. Our group was in the establishment for exactly an hour on a Sunday when it appeared there were only two other customers. These two young women need to realize that, without paying customers, their employer can't afford to pay them, and that repeat customers are their best source of revenue. So they should exhibit a modicum of hustle for the brief time that they actually have to do some work during an otherwise, quiet, un-busy day. As an aside, they do not even have so much as a paper cup on hand for a drink of tap water. If your child is thirsty you'll be invited to drive across the street to CVS. I'd like to point out that the 5-star reviews mention how much fun pottery painting is, and the variety of available projects, but make no mention of employees being friendly or helpful. Pottery By You at 86th/Township Line and Half Baked Pottery in Broad Ripple are far more deserving of your business. Their owners are on-site and their employees are fantastic!

I called back later to cancel my reservation. when the person answered the phone, she immediately stated that she would have her manager call me back because they do not offer refunds. she did not inquire about my name or any information and when I asked, she stated it was on caller ID. that was on 10/31/25. It was not until today (11/4/25) that someone contacted me stating they would not give me a refund. I was also told that they texted me on Friday however I have no message from them. I do understand that they have a "policy" which I would not complain about. however, telling me that you are charging me for memories is absurd. there are several places that offer this for 1/2 the price. I think the situation was handled extremely poor from their perspective. I will not be continuing with the reservation
