Inspired by The Great Pottery Throw down, we decided to try our own hand at the pottery wheel. So much fun! It's the perfect date night. A two hour beginning session is $30/person and you have the opportunity to throw three balls of clay. There is plenty of easily accessible parking. Rodney, the instructor, was very good - patient and knowledgeable. He was great at coming around and fixing your off-centered mess, if you needed it. After two weeks you can come pick up your masterpiece for only $5 after it's been fired and glazed. They have about 10 wheels in the studio, so great for a couple or a group! For those more advance they also do 8 week courses and have open studio time.

I heard about this place from a friend who did the one-night class workshop and raved about how it was so much fun so of course I had to check it out! I booked a class for my mom, myself, and my sisters to try something new and have some fun on mother's day weekend. You have to book tickets ahead of time ($30 each) because there is a limit on how many are in a class. There were 10 in ours (including us 4). You get three 1 lb balls of clay, the first ball is when you do a step by step to learn how to throw. We had Rodney as our instructor. He was awesome and very helpful. It took about an hour to do the step-by-step and the other hour was for you to throw by yourself with his assistance if you wanted it. After you throw, you can decide what pieces you want to purchase. Each piece is $5 and they glaze and fire for you. You can pickup your pieces about 2 weeks later. Before we had the class, we had been watching The Great Pottery Throwdown on HBO so we had fun pretending to judge our throws while we were there like we were a contestant. As you make your way to the wheels, they have a ton of artwork and other pieces sitting out for you to look at. It's mind blowing some of the things people have made! If you are looking for something fun and new to do with friends or family, I highly recommend this. It was so fun and I want to do it again!

FSQ Clay Center was the perfect place for a fun night to celebrate my birthday! We booked a private class and had the best evening. The class included our amazing instructor, Lexi, 3 balls of clay to make our pieces and lots of fun & laughter! It's great that you can bring in snacks and drinks (21+) - especially when it's for a celebration. The class is very reasonably priced for the overall experience and pieces you pick up a few weeks later. We all want to come back for their 8-week class!

This was my first take doing something like this and I really enjoyed it. Our instructor was very helpful and helped a full class every step of the way. You get 3 balls of clay and you take home 2. They did ask for you to bring your own towel to wipe your hands. You pick your artwork up 2 weeks from the date you attend. There was free parking as well. Overall a positive experience for a first timer.

My fiancé surprised me with a pottery class and we had so much fun! Neither of us had done it before so didn't know what to expect. It was a little tricky and the class directions were slightly vague, but trip and error helped us figure it out. We walked away with 1 successful piece out of 6 attempts. Other people were much more successful than us. Overall a fun date day!

    Finished class product!

Booked a private one night class with our instructor Chris! Amazing class had an absolute blast and was very informative also a very fair price! 10/10 recommend! Will definitely be going back!

This is my home-away-from home. The atmosphere is friendly and the space is big, industrial, and creative. I've taken classes, taught classes, and I currently rent a studio potter's shelf here (although I am a sculptor). People like to get involved in putting up shows and special holiday sales. You can put your headsets on and tune everyone out or have a friendly conversation while you work. They have 3 electric kilns so work gets through the firing cycle in a timely fashion and there is a large cone 10 gas kiln for the serious potters. It is one of my favorite places in Indianapolis.

I found a 2-for-1 deal on Groupon that allowed my friend and me to take a 2-hour pottery class for $30. Never having tried it, I purchased it and then scheduled our class on FSCC's website. There was a full class that night of eight people, plus our pottery teacher, Chris. He began the class by dividing up our clay and demonstrating how to wedge it. Then we took our seats at our individual wheels, and Chris did another demonstration of making a pot. At first I was a bit overwhelmed as Chris did the entire process (there were a lot of steps and hand placements), but he assured us that he would help us along the way when it was our turn (Phew!). Once his lovely pot was made, it was our turn to take the wheel. I won't lie: I found the process to be trickier than my some of my classmates, but I had about an hour for my many rounds of trail and error (emphasis on error). As we molded and shaped our pots, Chris spent time with everyone in helping them with their clay creations, from reviewing a technique to cutting the clay off the wheel to handling our pieces. I greatly benefited from his guidance and, with his help, I had a pretty cool piece. By the time we needed to clean up, most people made three pots, bowls, or cups. We labeled our pots, and Chris explained that either he could glaze our pottery for $10 per person, or we could purchase time in a monitored open studio (held on weekends at $10 for two people) and glaze them ourselves. My friend and I chose the latter, and I'm looking forward to coming in again and learning how to glaze. I would definitely recommend anyone to give this pottery class a try, especially if you're looking for something different to do in Indy and love a good Groupon deal. Best of luck at the potter's wheel!

I took my 3 sisters for a pottery class and Chris met my expectations. It was fun and educational and I certainly want to go back!! I made two pots and will go back to get them after they are fired and glazed.

My husband and I did a one night class on a Saturday evening as part of an anniversary date. We had a fabulous time! Even though neither of had done pottery before, we both receive enough guidance from the instructor to produce pottery on our first attempts. I would definitely do this again and would be a perfect place to bring your own group of friends or family.

We purchased tickets for a 2-hour clay throwing class and had a blast! There are only about 10 wheels, so it's a pretty intimate setting - great for date night, which is what we did, but also for families and friends! They mentioned that you can even rent the entire space and host a clay-throwing party, which I thought would be an awesome idea for a birthday - kid or adult! The teacher provided quick and easy-to-follow instructions then turned us loose. Each "student" was given 3 balls of clay to work with, so the potential of 3 items to take home! I was able to make 2 viable pots, but my last one flopped. ‍ It was still fun! At the end of the evening, you're given the option to have your creations fired, glazed, and ready for pick-up in abt 3 weeks for $5/piece. This a unique and affordable date night that I would definitely do again! Highly recommend.

Could there be a more pleasant clay venue in fountain square? I think not! My good friend and I decided to take a introduction class here after we saw a Groupon special. It was out fist clay experience and we did not know what to expect. Once we arrived at the venue, we were greeted by the instructor and given a short walk through of the space. He was very kind and passionate about his heart. Each pottery class allows 12 people maximum (including instructor) at a time. While that may seem like a lot of students to some, the experienced instructor made sure that each student received individual attention. I came into the clay center as a novice and left as a master -- nah, just kidding! I did, however, make a cup and a cool ring holder. I plan on recommending this business to many of my friends!

The Nest Event Center is located in Greenwood just off I-65 at Main Street. The parking lot is quite large and will accommodate a large event. The interior is amazing and you'd never know it was a former restaurant. The lobby area is very attractive, decorated in beiges and cream, and I could see using this for cocktails, a reception line plus so much more. It worked well tonight for purchasing tickets plus an area to sit and relax while enjoying the fireplace. The versatile ballroom is quite large and can handle everything from a wedding, conference to special events. One of those special events is the Holiday Craft Show tonight. The Event Center has a neutral color scheme and can accomadate most bridal or conference color schemes. This proved to be true with all the colors associated with the Holiday Craft Show. Tonight all different color schemes were used and all the crafts looked wonderful. With this neutral backdrop any decor theme would work nicely allowing brides or companies a great deal of flexibility and creativity. The Holiday Craft Show was a huge draw. Many different types of vendors filled the ballroom carrying Christmas decor, wreaths, jewelry, clothing, wool mittens, woodworking projects, signs, candles, crocheted items, lap blankets, floral arrangements and much more. There truly was something for most anyone's interest and many gift ideas. In the future I would like to take an official tour and checkout pricing for a yearly event I'm involved with. It was one of the most memorable Pride events I've been to presented by Indy Pride due to the unique venue and atmosphere. This past Wednesday, I had another opportunity to visit Tinker House for a Sound Bath presented by BFF Indy. It was a very different experience as the intention was a more meditative one opposed to a party with a DJ the last time I was there. It was still daylight when I arrived and mostly empty which made it convenient and ideal to explore the bridal suite and take pictures of the venue without any obstructions. The Sound Bath was held on the dance floor with lots of natural light surrounding us. I love the idea of the Sound Bath in this fun space. Although, I've had them in the past at a yoga studio which was MUCH quieter. My constructive criticism is that there is too much noise coming from the traffic outside (especially because this was at 5pm during rush hour) even on the second story of the building to relax and get the full benefits of a Sound Bath. There were no blankets, pillows or yoga mats either which isn't necessarily the responsibility of Tinker House but still something to be noted for future events. BFF Indy should have given attendees a heads up to bring their own supplies because sitting on a hard wood floor where people dance and walk on with shoes that have just been outside downtown is rather off putting and took away from the overall experience. The facilitator did an amazing job all things considered. I will go back for events in the future just not if they are supposed to be relaxing. Tinker House is ideal for social gatherings like weddings and parties. The decor is aesthetically appealing and very well thought out. There is a ambient bar/lounge on the first floor in addition to the one upstairs. There is limited parking in front of the building and a coffee shop next door.

When train travel went by the wayside, Grand Hall was left abandoned and dilapidated until it was transformed into a shopping mall + food court in the 1980s. When Circle Center Mall opened up and stole the thunder, Grand Hall was remodeled to become the gorgeous event space it is today.
