I can't imagine a more beautiful location for our wedding reception. If you'd like they have a chapel, but we were married at St. Joan of Arc then came here for the reception. The inside with the dark wood is elegant and the outside terrace is perfect if you're blessed with nice weather. Take a look at our photos for the real testimonial. Laurel Hall is an old mansion that is now the headquarters to the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and Educational Foundation. On weekends the grounds are rented for special events. Book EARLY - space will fill quickly. Parking is VERY limited so we used shuttles to help move people around and save hassle. We ended up with about 130 guests, I think. It was tight. Their website says max 200 and that's no joke. Depending on how you set the room, you will be lucky to fit 150 in the main dining room. Laurel Hall is not cheap, but their staff is professional and easy to work with.

Laurel Hall is a true hidden gem in Indianapolis! If you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue, look no further! The team at Laurel Hall is incredible and will go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The venue itself is elegant and filled with charm. I cannot wait to go back!

It's a co-working space, for those who have small businesses or work from home. The guy working the front (Ja'ir) was so kind and helpful, he answered all of our questions and told us a little bit about the place. The name P30 reflects where it is, which is 30th and post. He informed us that the facility is for the community, to rebrand the far east side, I love that! Inside you'll find a coffee shop, which wasn't open when I came, but I'd love to come back and try it out. They offer day passes to utilize what they have to offer or you can become a member. The building is fairly new and each room has a name that relates to the east side. The room we worked in was called "The Mitt" which refers to the street "Mitthoefer." They have gender neutral restroom along with designated women/men restroom stalls. The restrooms were clean, but the water to wash my hands was very cold. They have a large parking lot for easy access. I'm thinking of using a day pass to have a study session, try the coffee, and explore more of what this place has to offer.

The worker Ja'ir had explained to me the meaning behind P30 the last time I was there. I had enjoyed my talk with his because you can understand the passion behind P30 especially with them trying to pour into the community out there and to help the community to understand they too can be business people. There is a coffee shop inside there but it wasn't open when I was there. I see the prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for a space to work out of definitely check out P30 if you are in the area and need something because they give out day passes.

It was nice to go to a nice venue without having to go way out from Indy. Most venues I have been traveling either far west or far east or downtown from me which means a 20-30 minute drive. With the recent snow and cold, I appreciated The Spotlight Event Center being ultra convenient. The is a raised stage area made of one step with spotlight and in the daytime sunlight comes through nicely. There seems to be plenty of space for it seems up to 100 people. The event that I was at had about 50 people and we were not crowded in. There is one bathroom with a changing table, a bar sink area but I didn't see a refrigerator or stove if you need to keep food/beverages cold or heat food up. I can see the space being used for an intimate wedding, engagement party, bridal or baby shower easily. Since The Spotlight Event Center is in the shopping strip where Blind Owl brewery, Peak Performance, etc there is plenty of space for parking. I cannot review pricing since I didn't book this event, or other contractual details. I am definitely going to keep The Spotlight Event Center in mind as a venue if I need a space for an event.

There's a lot of construction. This is largely a space for special events. The Willows largely takes up this entire area and includes multiple event options including a ballroom: reception building, a lodge for receptions, a garden, a ballroom for ceremonies, and a lodge ceremony space. The lodge area is actually my favorite area, though I've yet to actually attend an event there. I've now attended two events inside the Ballroom building, a decent-sized building right on Spirit Lake (actually everything is right on Spirit Lake). It has a classic beauty and can be set up for everything from parties to special events to speaking engagements or conferences. The last event I attended here, just a couple weeks ago, had (I believe) 500 in attendance sitting around tables. It was packed - so, I'm guessing any more than that would be unreasonable. This particular event actually had back-to-back events with about a 30-45 minute period between them. So, kudos to the staff here for doing a really quick changeover. The first event I attended here was also catered, a definite option here. I found the food solid (I for the life of me can't remember exactly what was served). I recall thinking it was in the 4-star range. Truthfully, I thought I had done a review after that event but apparently had not. The Willows utilizes Crystal Catering (which they own) for its catering. This facility is run by the same team behind Holliday Park, Crystal Catering, Indiana Roof Ballroom, and The Crane Bay Event Center. Accessing The Willows is fairly simple since it's right on Westfield Boulevard. They have two large parking lots on both sides of their ballroom building. The lodge section is farther to the right. There's a row of accessible parking to the right side of the ballroom building, though the spots are shy of true ADA. If there's a place where The Willows falls short, and it nearly led me to drop it to a 3-star, it's in true accessibility. It's simply not truly accessible and not even particularly wheelchair friendly. There's a significant incline to get up to the door. While you could be dropped off at the front door, if you're the one doing the driving (as I would be) that's not feasible. There is a curb cut, however, so you can at least get on the sidewalk. The double-sided doorway entry is a tad heavy, though during events there tends to be folks around to help out. I also had some issues with the restroom in the ballroom building. In short, if you're a person with a disability or you know you have one in your party I recommend having conversations up front with The Willows. They are, in fact, good at working with people and sometimes pre-planning helps. This is just not a place where I would simply "show up." I will also note that both events I attended here had audio issues. While audio issues can be caused by a wide variety of things, it's a bit of a caution to me that 2 of 2 events had them at one facility. Both times, they impacted the event from an attendee's perspective. The setting here is beautiful, the lake wonderful, the garden an ideal space for weddings, and the ballroom an idea spot for chic, classy events. The lodge can be more laid back or classy. There's much to love here, but there are some accessibility concerns and some little glitchy things that keep The Willows from truly being a 5-star experience. The little things matter, for example even in researching for this review I noted there's a couple dead pages on their website...again, details matter if you want to serve up an impeccable, classy experience. I would easily return here, though as a person with a disability myself I know to plan ahead and be sure to work through the audio in advance to ensure a spotless experience is had by all.

During the night of my visit I saw a solo artist with a small band. The sound quality was quite good with very little feedback. I enjoyed sitting at the cabaret style tables toward the back. I also attended the annual bourbon tasting at Turntable. In addition to concerts and shows, they can host some special events as well. The space is not big so don't expect to cramp too many people in there. The Vogue is an iconic venue in Indy but Turntable has its merits also. But I do want to add a couple caveats to that (and out myself as a cranky old man). We saw a sold-out show here recently and found it to be just too damn crowded for the allotted space, which limited our enjoyment of the music and also made me think it's not terribly safe. We did end up finding an intimate spot by a garbage bin near the back where we could sort of see the stage and chit-chat with the drunkards who were also back there for easy access to the bar. And we were definitely happier there than we would have been near the stage, where everyone had to sacrifice elbow room and the option of a bathroom trip in favor of a better view. We would have been a little happier in the premium seating (which was sold out before I was able to book), but, lesson learned. I'd just rather be at a place where capacity is more limited but the setup is geared toward ensuring the audience has a little more comfort.
