I first saw Maria by chance when she was with a previous salon, and I've stuck with her ever since. She takes pride in her craftsmanship and truly sees her work as an art. I am always getting compliments on my balayage and it grows out beautifully, which means less maintenance if you choose to go that route. Going to Maria is an investment. Maria is very no-nonsense and will never BS you--if something isn't going to work for your hair she is straight-up about it. But don't let that scare you away! She's bold and confident because she has the talent and skill to back it up. Maria is really one of the best stylists out there! read more

I've been going to Maria for over three years now and my hair has never looked better. She always works with me to achieve the look I want - from dirty blonde to extremely blonde and back again - but she also makes sure my hair stays healthy in the process. Recently I told her I wanted to cut my hair short, and she asked if she could give me a layered look before we chopped it all off. I went with it! And when I say it's the best haircut I've ever had...I mean it. I've actually had friends say "please never change your hair" after this haircut. To say that Maria is a miracle worker is an understatement. I want to start growing out my grey and Maria was recommended by a friend. She was very honest about what would look good and did an AMAZING job blending my grey. She finished and all I could think is I wish I had done this years ago. Not only did she do a great job with the color and cut but it was obvious she was not pushing any other agenda. I came to Maria after many months of having my hair dyed black. I wanted to go blonde but didn't realize that after black it wouldn't be easy! Maria explained that this would be a long process, but she's made it as painless as possible! I'm now close to my goal of white blonde and my hair is still healthy and intact. Maria is so easy to talk to and I love that I can schedule online. I'm also always able to get an appointment at a time that works well for me, which was not always the case at my previous salon. Check her out on Instagram (@color.me.maria) to see her beautiful before and afters! read more

I first met Maria about 2 and a half years ago. I wanted to go to white blond or ashy blond, and her main concern was to do it in as healthy a way as possible, as I'm a natural brunette. About one year later my hair was as blond as I wanted it to be! So, it took a year, but my hair stayed healthy. I always trust Maria that what she does comes with much care to be sure it's done right. Maria has helped me to be a blond, to have navy blue hair, to have unicorn hair, and - as of a couple of days ago, to be a redhead. She's the only person I've gone to since my first visit with her and I don't see that changing unless I - God forbid - ever move away from Chicago. read more

LOOK NO FURTHER! Maria is an absolute color expert!!! I have been going to Maria for years, moved for a few years and came back and called her. Haven't seen / talked to her for a while so she was getting to know my hair / style essentially as a new client. She accommodated my last minute hectic schedule for my moms wedding and was an absolute professional with my annoying time constraints. I have curly shoulder length hair and I needed something booked ASAP before my moms wedding. I wanted blonde, but not too blonde, while still keeping my brown, didn't want to ruin my curls, wanted it to grow into something beautiful and not look washed out or gross after a few months. She recommended a great baliage and did a phenomenal job ! She even colored it before I got it cut (I have to go a deva salon for curls) it so it was colored to make sure it looked great post cut ! I've been red, blonde and brown with Maria and she has never ever disappointed and makes you look phenomenal and confident. One of the most professional, hard working and intelligent stylists I have been to. Don't walk, run, to go see her at Salon Glow on Lincoln in Lincoln Park ! read more

Maria has been my hairapist for about 9 months. When I moved to Chicago, I left a four year relationship with my previous stylist and tried several here before finally finding Maria. Not only is she a gifted colorist and stylist, but more importantly, she cares immensely for the health of my hair. As a blonde with challenging hair, I feel confident that everything she does is out of love and care first, with a "long game" mindset (get it? Long game? LOL). My hair has never looked or felt better. I finally feel like I have a teammate who's willing to research ideas and products for me because she's that passionate about doing hair the right way! Maria is also someone who is interesting and intelligent, something that's super important to me when I'm going to sit in the chair with her for three hours. She's funny and tells it like it is :D Oh and she speaks five languages, no big deal ;) Maria is also a great consultant on products and styling at home. She'll go through your hair arsenal and tell you what really works and what might work better. I never usually purchase products from a salon but the ones she recommends at hers are awesome (LOOOOVE Milkshake and Olaplex!). If you're looking for a new stylist, Maria is the one. read more

Seriously, this is the best hair I've ever had. I went to Maria for a full balayage and a cut. After I showed her a few photos of what I liked, she provided an excellent consultation and told me exactly what she had in mind. She took my hair from drab and dingy blonde with grown out highlights to a fresh, gorgeous and luminous bob. Maria was lovely and engaging throughout the entire process, and she gave me clear expectations for next steps and maintenance. The minute I walked out of the salon I got a "hey there" beep from a passing vehicle. Guess that's a pretty good sign? I met my friends for dinner afterward and they were gobsmacked! I will definitely go back to Maria and can't wait for my next appointment!! 20 stars! read more

Not only Maria is an amazing colorist, she is also care of the health of her client hair. She is a perfectionist and full of compassion. She is also very positive! For the first time in my life, i have peace with my frizzy, curly, stiff hair because she knows how to handle it....She fixed my hair! She showed how to give my hair a little TLC... she shared all the tricks and that is what i love about her. My hair is gradually healthier and the color is just what I want it. Thank you, Maria! Maria is a MIRACLE WORKER. I came to her almost a year ago with very color damaged hair as a bleached blonde from another hair salon. I was going every 4 weeks to bleach my hair. She changed me to a balayage (or foliage, more accurately) and it has changed my life. In conjunction with helping me find new hair habits, products, and having me come in every 3 months for color, my hair is much healthier, manageable, easier to style, and looks more natural. As someone with naturally dark brown hair, it's incredible to walk around with a head full of blonde and feel like it's natural! Maria and I have also played around with fun colors like pink (it was awesome) and more recently, we darkened up my hair just a bit. She is very, very skilled at what she does- a perfectionist, and I would trust no one else with my hair but her. It leaves me feeling sad knowing I am moving across the country and will have to find someone as gifted and competent as her. She is THE queen of hair color!!! read more

Maria is the best! I've seen her many times for balayage and haircuts. She is creative, honest, and dedicated. I'd never colored my hair before, and I was really nervous. I don't know where to begin... this girl does freaking wonders. She knows what's she's doing most of all she great at it. I've always hated getting my hair done because it just takes so long. I have really thick hair and some people that have worked on it in the past, would get frustrated and rush through me. I would end up looking a little cray. Maria is such a pleasure to be around. she's honestly a beautiful person inside and out. I really wanted a big transformation and was scared to hell, I did not trust anyone. I found Maria and it was my first time meeting her and I trusted her with this big transformation I wanted. I sat in her chair for 6 1/2 hours. Every minute was worth it!! I walked out the happiest I had ever been. Thanks to her i have no fear in changing things up with my hair. I love her and her work. I will never go to anyone other then her. read more

Maria is just amazing! I have been going to her for around 2+ years now, and I can truly see such an amazing change in my hair. I am a blonde that is pretty picky about my color. It has never looked better since I let Maria start doing her balayage magic! Not only that, but I came to her with tons of breakage from overuse of heat (straightener, curler), and not only did get my hair to grow longer and more even than it ever has, but she educated me on how to reduce the amount of heat on my hair and use products that will make it healthy! I had my wedding in September, and felt gorgeous that day because of the work Maria has done on my hair. Not only that, but she traveled out to Wheaton for the day to make sure my hair was flawless and also did the hair of my bridesmaids and mom. Some of my bridesmaids even commented that the hair she did for them was better than that on their own wedding day!! I'm so thankful for Maria and HIGHLY recommend her to anyone! Not only that, but she's a wonderful person, and I look forward to seeing her every time I go to the salon. Thanks for everything, Maria! Run don't walk to go see her :) read more

The best! She takes her time painting and has great products. And the salon is clean!

I have been going to Maria for haircuts for the past 3 years. She knows exactly how to cut and style my hair to make me feel fabulous when I leave the salon. She has since been coloring my hair for almost two years and I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair before. The color looks incredibly natural and I only go in about three times a year. AMAZING! NO BS. REAL TALENT AND PASSION. I went to Maria for the first time when I wanted to switch from highlights to balayage. I found her on Instagram and hoped her work was as good as the pictures suggested. Maria talked me through how we would work on growing out my highlights and adding balayage/root melt over time to get me where I wanted to be: cool, multi-dimension blonde. She was very honest with my about what she could do each session and spent a lot of time educating me about keeping my hair healthy. She was right and my patience has paid off. No two sessions with Maria are the same because she's constantly evaluating the state of my hair and deciding what will work best. I trust her and always leave loving my hair! read more
