It's no secret that I'm obsessed with my car. A lot of the work (chrome delete, side stickers, interior details) I have done myself just watching YouTube videos. I invested in PPF and ceramic coating at Daylan's Mobile Detailing LLC. because this will be a 10 year car for me no doubt. After having several issues with the tint, I finally took it to Tronix Autosports who totally got it right!! You'd think all was well and good, yeah? I've changed her name from NOTORIOUS R. E. D. to Christine. Like the Stephen King book. I had an extremely nasty accident two weeks ago. Thankfully no damage to the body but smashed the tire into a curb doing 35-40mph around a bend. I had it towed to Collision Correctors and opted to pay out of pocket, hoping that it was just the rim and tire. Unfortunately, it was A LOT more than that. As they got more and more involved, Jay and his team saw that this was a $3000 job. I panicked because I hadn't filed an insurance claim or an accident report. Jay and Rich (the owner) both reassured me that it wasn't too late (I actually filed the Geico claim YESTERDAY!!). The claims agent came out today to review all of the pictures and receipts, as well as my car. It was approved!! So instead of paying $3000, I only paid my deductible. I could have cried. From start to finish, Jay was in communication with me on where my car was and how the progress was going. I never felt like a nag, he was polite and professional from the moment I dropped my keys off until I got them back today. I know there are a lot of options down here for car repair, but I can't say enough about this shop. I come from a family of mechanics and I know that many women are nervous when taking their car in for work because of the stereotype that we don't know what they're talking about. You won't get this here. I know cars, these guys are honest and fair. They also have a lifetime warranty on their work. You won't find that at most shops. Hopefully "Christine" behaves herself and I don't need any more work done, but if I do, I know where I'm going. To see Jay and his team.

I've worked on cars since I was a teenager, but I don't have a place anymore to do so. If they weren't honest, I'd know it. They've never tried to upsell me on anything. They've never been and will never be the "replace your blinker fluid" type of shop. True honest guys that I fully trust. They DO, however, add a 3% fee for using your credit card, so bring cash! First time my car was in, the AC got fixed and it still works perfectly over a year later. Second time, the brakes needed to be done. They replaced the pads, rotors, and calipers - all of which I knew were the problem. The left caliper was sticking (I suspected so,) causing the bulk of my bill. That wasn't an upsell, it was necessary. I also need to get a wheel bearing replaced, but because it's another $400+ job, that will have to wait. Instead of pushing me into it, they warned of the risk, and said it isn't loose, so I do have some time as long as I stick to local driving. That was a relief to have the option to accumulate some money again. I have called around and compared prices, and they are even, if not cheaper than competitors. Fear not! You are not being price gouged!

After the free diagnostic test, Tom came out explained the issue was the thermometer and what was happing with the broken thermometer. Tom and John gave me the prices all broken out, parts labor etc.... that was greatly appreciated. I choose to proceed; Tom came out from time to time to let me know the progress. I then asked Tom while the car was there could they ddo an oil change and rotate the tires.... No problem done!!! This is all very important because in May I had contacted the corporate office because I believed the service manager at that time was up charging customers. I swore I would never step foot in there again. Cody the regional manager went down there and observed and did what needed to be done. Last week my sister was here from out of town, unbeknown to me she stopped at Mavis, she had an issue on her ride down with car. When she came, she proceeded to tell me how wonderful Mark was and what he had done for her. Brought her car in, noticed who had done her oil change didn't put a plate back on correctly, fixed the plate and didn't charge her. I had to call to thank him. Amazing customer service!!!!! After all this I have to say, Mavis is what Mavis used to be if not better!!!! I highly recommend Mavis in Bayville. Phenomenal customer service, excellent mechanics and I really believe a place that can be trusted. Cody when you brought John, Tom and Mark in you hit the jackpot. They truly are and asset to your establishment and I will return and recommend them over and over again. Thank you!!!!

I found out later it did not fit my make and model and vin # and the supervisor showed no concern or surprise when I brought the matter to his attention. He had no explanation, no apology, nothing and acted as if it was no big deal. I found an excellent mechanic/transmission installer who was able to, with a lot of time and effort - and swearing make it eventually fit but the labor cost that I had to pay was over 3 times what I would have paid if they had sold me the correct size transmission. They should have told me that they did not have an exact fit. It wasn't even an accident, I was sold this wrong part deliberately! So my advice is to be cautious if you deal with these people, make sure all is on the up and up and don't buy anything that you can't verify yourself.

One day before my next scheduled oil change--roughly three months later--the oil drain plug completely fell out while I was driving on the parkway. Every warning light came on, the engine lost all oil, and it completely shut down and was destroyed. My mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed the drain plug had fallen out while driving. It had clearly been undertightened/improperly torqued during the last service, slowly seeping oil over those three months until the vibrations on the highway finally vibrated it completely loose. Whiting Auto Center was the last shop to perform an oil change on this vehicle, yet they are denying all responsibility for the catastrophic failure caused by their work. A routine oil change should not result in a destroyed engine. Their failure to properly secure a drain plug and their refusal to take accountability for the resulting damage is unacceptable. I strongly advise taking your vehicle elsewhere!
