We've been coming to this Cold Stone for a while because they make one of our favorite ice cream combos. Even though the prices are a bit high, we usually don't mind since the service is friendly and the ice cream is good. Unfortunately, our experience today was disappointing. I ordered the Cheesecake Fantasy in a "Love It" size, and my boyfriend got the Founder's Favorite. Right away we noticed his cup had noticeably less ice cream than mine. When we mentioned it, the staff insisted it was the same amount. Once both cups were side by side (see photo), it was obvious they weren't. Another employee said it was because his flavor had fewer toppings, but we've ordered this many times before and never had that issue sometimes they even overfill it. We left disappointed that our concern wasn't acknowledged or resolved. It's unfortunate because we've enjoyed coming here for a long time, but this visit really missed the mark. read more

My wife and I have been coming to this Cold Stone for a few years, so this is a long time coming. The whole staff is always kind and friendly, and they don't have a problem with hooking up the servings! I was throwing the wife a surprise birthday party and she had mentioned that the Strawberry Passion cake looked delicious. With that in mind I came back a couple of days later and talked with their baker with help of the owner and another employee. They were all on board and made great suggestions like why don't we combine the best of that cake with their other creation, surrender to strawberry. My friends ordered me ice cream cupcakes as a surprise and they were AMAZING!!!! They were preordered so we just walked in, gave our name and it was ready for us. The cupcakes are in a dark chocolate shell, cake on the bottom, ice cream in the middle and frosting on top. So absolutely delicious. I can't stop thinking about them. The store is located in a busy shopping center but we parked right up front with no issues. The store was clean and we were greeted with a smile when we walked in. What is wrong with this place? The stench inside is putrid and vile, like really sour vomit or rotting food that someone tried to cover up with heavy cleaning products, topped with a side of a very obvious pesticide odor. We tried to tough it out but couldn't even hang long enough for our chance to order (or inquire about the horrific smell!) To make matters worse, there are signs posted saying something to the effect of "Sorry the glass is broken, but we promise our food is glass-free" referring to the cracked glass en casement over the ice cream. I can't imagine how badly one must want ice cream to weather the insanity going on in this place. We gtfo of there before ordering and I could still taste the odor in my mouth for a good 30 minutes after leaving. Someone ought to report this place to the health inspector. read more

I picked a birthday cake up on Sunday for my granddaughter, and I was so embarrassed everybody was complaining about the cake being stale.. am very upset about this and will not be ordering any more birthday cakes here. the decorating everything looked beautiful except for the cake itself it tasted stale. When I first walked in it has a weird funky smell, you need to change filters or get some fans. The off smell should have been a warning sign of how my ice cream was going to taste like. I was rushed through my order even though I was the only person in the store. My order was prepared so quickly, the brownie was barely cut so it was a giant glob in the middle. Worst birthday cake ever! So I ordered the cake I wanted for my birthday and my husband picked it up. The manager told my husband the icing was a little weird but didnt think it would be a big deal since it was already in the cold stone bag. However, when he got home he removed it from the bag and realized the cake looked nothing like a decent cake. It looked like it had melted due to its consistency and they used the wrong frosting color. What was worse is the actual cake wasn't even close to what it should have been inside. Good Day, Yesterday I was out shopping with my family in Mission Valley strip mall off Friars that has Costco. We just finished shopping at Costco and I wanted some ice cream. My Mom was driving and I asked her if she could take a detour so I could. I walk into the shop as well as another woman who was a darker skin Asian woman and I am African American. No one acknowledged us. The two girls behind the counter said nothing. One girl who worked with Britney H. presented as though she was angry. She never made eye contact, asked if we had been helped, nothing. Britney H. was on the register with another customer. When Britney H. was done she huffed, looked at her co-worker and proceeded to walk towards us with an annoying look on her face. I look at her and said, hi I was next. She proceeded to take my order with the rudest attitude. I didn't say anything, I took a breath. Britney H. asked what size and I told her , love it size and I wanted a waffle cone. She walked away, didn't say a word, and she and her co-worker walked to the back. They both came out with the scooping spoons and they both began to toss them into the metal container by the ice cream making a loud sound. Britney H. had two spoons in her hand and because of how rude she was I was praying she didn't use dirty scoopers for my ice cream or her and her co-worker did something worse to the scoopers used for my ice cream. She begins to scoop my ice cream and again with an even more nasty attitude Britney H. asked "what size?!" At this point, I had taken enough breaths so I asked them are they ok, are they angry, because they are being so rude and nasty. They both said nothing. So I asked again are you two ok? Is there something going on? Do you need to say something? Because the two of you are behaving in such a ugly, nasty, rude, and disrespectful manner. Then they replied we are fine. I said, there is no way with how you both have behaved. We then walk to the register and I tell Britney H. If she didn't want to help people of color say that but her and her co-workers behavior is unacceptable considering I've been to several ColdStone Ice Cream parlors and this one is the worst in customer service and that is not ColdStone!! Cold Stone Creamery is not a bad place to get some ice cream. In fact, it's a very good place to get some. I stopped in after lunch, and tried the Cinnamon Ice Cream, a single scope on a sugar cone for three dollars and some change. The cinnamon ice cream had an aggressive flavor profile, in that the cinnamon flavor did not hold back, but I am not complaining, because I rather like it in sweets. However, the ice was not as creamy as I would of like, because it had a mild spongy appeal to it. It was good, but I much rather have ice cream that is creamy and dreamy. They were very helpful over the phone and completed my order exactly as it was placed. Mission: Mint chocolate chip ice cream cake for my 6year old nephew. (He has a sophisticated taste only for mint chocolate chip as many 6 y/o kids will tell you. Result: two thumbs up from the birthday boy. The mint chocolate chip ice cream cake with devils food cake to serve 6-8 people was not only delicious and moist (as moist as an ice cream cake can be) , the price point was reasonable and cheaper than other ice cream specialty stores we have ordered from before. Pro tip: Eating the cake a few days later after it's been made and in the freezer enhances the non-ice cream cake portion ( whether vanilla, devils food cake, etc) between the ice cream layers so you get extra flavor of the ice cream without directly eating the ice cream.
