I took my 3 grandchildren here today with my wife. It was my first time visiting this location. I couldn't put my finger on exactly what was off but none of us finished our ice cream. After we left, we went to Barnes and Noble's. It turned out my grandson became really sick, and he claimed it was from the ice cream! My wife & myself also got hit with bouts of diarrhea. Beyond grossed out. Ordered 2 items from this location and found MULTIPLE long, light brown strands of hair mixed into it. Completely unsanitary. It wasn't just a hair that fell on top. It was multiple strands mixed throughout the ice cream. This will definitely be the last time I go to this location nor recommend anyone to go there. I use to like this place better when they sang when you gave them a tip! I had to take away stars from this place because of the hours they are open. I wanted to get an Ice cream after eating at Panera Bread next door but this location doesn't open until 1:00pm during the week so I was unable to get an Ice cream during my lunch hour with my co workers losing out in 6 sales. I went back after work and the employees seemed so tired and overwhelmed they didn't even sing for their tip! I still love the flavors of the Ice Creams and the new Lucky Charms Ice Cream is fantastic. Wish this place had a soda machine that you can have free refills or water instead of having to buy expensive soda and water bottles from the cooler. And what about root beer floats? read more

This has been one of our go-to stops for the past couple of years and I have no complaints. Depending on the day of the week and time is key, at least at this location. Coming here at night time, the line could go outside or there will be a very small line. No issues, but do have patience. The longest I've ever waited was about 10 minutes. I've been getting the milkshakes every time I went. The flavoring used in it is good, with enough milk and ice cream etc., to bring its name to live. It doesn't come with whipped cream, therefore, you do need to request ahead of time. If not, you may not get it. One day I'm going to opt for something else. Customer service has never been an issue, but I do wish on some days that they have more employees scheduled on certain days, especially Fridays and the weekends at night. To close, come at good time in the early evening or a different day. read more

I used to eat Cold Stone frequently, however, since i've moved from my favorite location to a new location, I started going there, however, when I do go there I like to key in my account number in order to get my points...with that being said, I went into the new Cold Stone location (Poughkeepsie) and I wanted ice-cream, and I got it but when it was time for me to pay, the cashier quickly took my money and didn't wait for me to key in my info for the points (which they encourage you to do) because the cashier was talking to other customers (two people handling the creamery, both people were trying to juggle me and a group of people that came in for a cake, and I wanted ice cream a large cup) being some people cannot handle more than one customer, both girls (who worked there) started dealing with the 2 girls that were dealing with the cake, they were asking for candles, which they were given for free by the way, (I'm sure that Cold Stone would like them giving free stuff out...) so the cashier rushed to charge me for the ice cream and didn't allow me to key in my account number, then I told her that I wanted to put my number in (and the ice cream that I ordered never left the counter and my head was spinning how quickly she cashed me out) I was not happy that I wasn't able to key in my number, so I asked whether I could do so, she said, "no", then I said I would like the other young lady to help me, but she didn't know anything either...I told the cashier that if I couldn't get the points keyed in (that she rushed to ask me for money for, the ice cream not being picked up off the table, meanwhile the other 2 girls she was dealing with (with the cake) were eating their ice cream and ordering various other things, and haven't paid yet, and are getting free stuff (candles) at Cold Stone's expense...being angry at the situation, I told the cashier that if I couldn't get the points I wanted a refund...she then had to call her manager...the cashier walked away while speaking with the manager, so naturally I'm sure she said something that wasn't true, because when she came back to me, she said the manager said there are no refunds, and I could go home and key in the info to get the points! (the nerve!) I then told the cashier that she needs to keep that cash register open, and I would key in my points in front of her, and if I could not, I was sure that she would give me my money back (the ice cream I ordered never leaving the counter, so it wasn't touched, nor out of the store at all!). I proceeded to go into the app and try keying into the info for my points, I wasn't able to find out how to immediately navigate the site, so I asked the cashier where to go and she didn't even know...I had to wind up fumbling with the app to get where I needed to go, without her help. I was then successfully able to list the points into the app, and then I requested my change, and I got the ice cream I ordered and left. The moral of this story is, #1 - it should not be this hard to get points from an app that Cold Stone encourages people to join; #2 - Not many people frequent Cold Stone any more, thus the multiple store closings, so it would behoove people to be professional and accommodating to, and not get so "lost" in one customer and ignore others, or make them feel like you are bothering them when you quickly check them out, before they can completely close the transaction, and #3 - If you leave people in a store to run it, they should be told not to give out free stuff to anyone if they don't own the store. The doling of free stuff was out in the open, this would make other people want free stuff also. Not good. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WILL NO LONGER GO TO THIS COLD STONE, and instead go to the frozen yogurt place down the street, where everyone else goes, they are much friendlier and professional there. read more

Visited Cold Stone last weekend with my husband. While ordering, the employee was rushing my order and walking away from me as I was still speaking. She made my ice cream, which contained nuts (I did not order nuts, and this could have been very dangerous for someone with nut allergies). I had such a horrible experience here that I wish I could give 0 stars. Last weekend, my boyfriend and I went in for ice creams after seeing a movie. We both got the like it size. He ordered first, and the guy working gave him a nice portion, filled with toppings. When it was my turn, the girl who made mine used HALF the ice cream that he got, mashed it around and gave me half a cup of ice cream soup. It didn't fill the cup and definitely wasn't ice cream. His was overflowing. THEN, they charged me extra because I got two toppings instead of only one. Now I'm a reasonable person and I understand how Cold Stone works, but it really got to me that he had SO MUCH more ice cream and it looked so much better. When I asked the girl about it and wanted more ice cream because that's what he got, I was given SUCH an attitude that I finally gave up, threw both of our ice creams out, and left. ColdStone Creamery is like private parts... you've seen one you've seen them all. I will agree with other Yelper's that this location seems a little crammed. I have been here on more than one occasion during the summer where the line is out the door. This most recent visit there was no wait at all. We ordered some new desserts. The misses went with "Brownie ala ColdStone", I went with "Churro Caramel Crave" and the little one had Strawberry Ice Cream with Rainbow sprinkles. The dessert plates took quite a while to prepare, you'd think they had to go to Mexico to get the Churro's. My two ladies were more than half way through their desserts by the time my was ready. As soon as I sat down they both turned their attention to my treat and started hammering away at it. The best part of my choice was honestly th Churro's. It's not that the Ice Cream was bad, it just nothing special (French Vanilla). The Churro's were fresh and tasty (maybe it was worth the wait for them to import them from Mexico) In the end all 3 of us ended up eating mine. The two girls working in the store could have been a little more perky. No hello, thank you or anything, they just got you your order and sent you on your way. I'm sure slapping ice cream around on a frozen metal block isn't the most interesting of jobs, but at least pretend like your having a good time. I have mixed feelings about this place. There ice cream and sorbet was good. Except the employees were nasty and it seemed like they were oblivious to the fact that there was a line. I got their tangerine sorbet thingy and it was amazing!!! It's really quite unusual how they make it though, they scoop out your ice cream and all the ingredients and mix it together on this black stone counter thingy and then put it into your cup. It's a bit unusual but their tangerine sorbet thing was really refreshing but they put too much pineapples on mine and not enough of the white cake. Store# 21866 horrible store and very dirty!!! Gnats flying around and landing on toppings as well as the slab where they mix the ice cream. Becca was the server/cashier and did not wear any gloves while handling the ice cream (using her finger to push some ice cream back into the container) nor the money/debit cards! She had a bad attitude and actually continued her conversation with two teens well after making their order and taking their debit cards to pay. I waited patiently for her to take my order only to have another teen walk out from the back skip me and go straight to the guy taking his order instead! I'm a avid ice cream eater and a huge fan of ice cream in general. I try just about any ice cream place/chain I come across- I've been to this Cold Stone branch 3 times in about 2 years- twice in the last 2 months. I may not go again unless I absolutely am craving ice cream and Cold Stone is the most convenient place. This is the only branch I've ever tried. Ok, first of all Cold Stone is all about the show of making your selected sundae/ice cream combo in front of you, that is essentially the only draw of Cold Stone. The ice cream/sundaes are WAY overpriced, however I will give credit for the interesting/inspired sundae combinations. Again, these chains are all about presention/the flashy creation of ice cream sundaes. You tell them your order and they plop your ice cream/toppings onto a marble slab and mix it/chop it up with a crafty hand tool and then smush it into your selected cup size (like it, love it, gotta have it- very gimmicky). I guess you could argue that this leads to a more balanced sundae in the sense that every element is mixed in well, blah blah blah. All I know is when I receive my Sundae- It has already started to melt and get sloppy- which added to the fact that they tend to over stuff the cup in the first place is a recipe for a drippy mess of a sundae. EVERYTIME I've been here with different people we have all had to use the next largest cup size up to contain the mess of our melting sundaes, can you say waste? I nitpick about this issue because the 3 times I was handed my sundae I instantly had to do an emergency clean up operation around the edges of my sundae to prevent meltage from dripping everywhere- the servers have not mastered the art of putting the appropriate amount of ice cream in the cups (i'm not complaining about generous portions, but in this case it is not a good thing). I actually got called out by my friend who accused me of starting to eat without her- when I was merely trying to prevent a mess. This also becomes an issue because after you get your sundae you move awkwardly down the counter area to the register to pay, and I always fumble the balance of managing my melting sundae/paying the overpriced cost of it. The whole set up of the ordering area is rather awkward and poorly thought out. You should have to pay BEFORE you receive your sundae. I've seen this process of paying after getting your sundae cause a back up/extended wait period addressed in other reviews. My 2nd and most damning complaint is the ice cream is not great at all, its crazy sweet, almost sickeningly so. God forbid you order a sundae with lots of added sweet elements such as candy- a recipe for a unpleasant post ice cream experience. I have NEVER not felt gross after eating Cold Stone- that feeling you get after you eat something sickeningly sweet. I DO NOT KNOW HOW people manage to choke down anything larger then the like it size (Cold Stone language for small) without feeling sick. Also, some of the flavors are down right artificial and weird tasting (eg cheesecake flavor- gross). The ice cream is not worth the price at all, and the toppings are overpriced as well, almost a $ per topping, really??!! In short- the ice cream is not great, the method of mixing the sundae leads to prematurely melted/slushy ice cream, and its overpriced. There are surely better ice cream places to frequent. I will give it 2 stars based solely on the sundae 'options', as in the interesting mix combinations and the abundance of available toppings. read more
