As long as I have lived here, and as long as they have been here, I've never tried CSC until recently. I took my grandson after he had a great week at school. Ice cream is always a super sweet reward/treat. He had the blue cotton candy with mnms. He liked it quite a bit. I had the cheesecake flavor with fresh blueberries. Mine was OK. I think the ice cream could have had a bit more of a fuller cheesecake flavor. It was a bit on the bland side. I would have liked more blueberries too instead of the paltry amount I received. They are pricey, but I suppose the way inflation is kicking our arses lately, it's par for the course. I will probably try going again another day. read more

Went there last night I asked for add-ons to my order, the staff member appeared visibly annoyed and initially ignored my request. It wasn't until after she had already begun preparing my cone that she acknowledged my request for add-ons. During the process, some of the ice cream fell out of the cone. Rather than preparing a new cone or offering a refund, the staff member picked up the fallen ice cream with her bare hands and placed it back into the cone. I found this handling of my food to be unprofessional and unsanitary. Additionally, I was not offered any compensation or a replacement for what had happened. Update : I did contact the manager she she was very sweet and apologized for the employee's behavior and actions and did offer me to come back and have my icecream remade. read more

When I dine out, I usually support independent/local businesses. But when it comes to ice cream, I bend that rule a bit. Sure, Greenwood has a local favorite, but the lines tend to be long. I was hoping to find some ice cream and another local spot in the mall looked like it had gone out of business, so I got on Yelp and found this place just across the street! This is the third Cold Stone Creamery I've been to in the metro area and I will say they have a consistency of quality that I appreciate. After grabbing a parking spot to the side of the building, I was greeted (as were all subsequent customers) when I entered. There is a large display counter with buckets of flavored ice creams and menus with lots of pre-determined combinations. You can also build your own (they build it according to your requests) with a wide variety of flavors and toppings. I decided to go with the Founder's Favorite made with Sweet Cream ice cream, pecans, brownie, chocolate fudge syrup, and caramel. Yum! I chose just a small serving in a cup after seeing the calories skyrocket as the servings get larger. I like that there are combos already determined. Sometimes, there are so many choices and not everything I pick seems to work well together. This is the third different combo I've tried and they all seem really good. Fortunately, someone came from the back of the business to help out as the hot day was making the line grow longer. The two employees seemed to work well together and soon had the line handled. Not the cheapest ice cream around, but because of all the ingredients and the "hands on" approach of mixing the ingredients together instead of just layering them, I don't mind occasionally stopping by and getting something tasty. This Cold Stone is in a great location near the Greenwood Park Mall. I have had some good and mixed visits to this particular location and with the business in general I typically get ice cream but I went with something lighter this time- a mango pineapple smoothie. We went after lunch at around 12:30 and there was one employee working with a family of four ahead of us. They ordered some smoothies and ice cream so it took some time for the employee to get it all done. The employee was kind and apologized for the wait- which I understood since she was alone. The smoothie was delicious and light! I like their ice cream as well and would recommend this chain for a nicer ice cream experience than your typical Dairy Queen. read more

We went in on 10/24. There were probably 5/6 people in line, in front of us, where My Boyfriend and I waited for people to order in front of us for probably 10-15, no problem. When it was our turn to order, I ordered a chocolate milkshake. The person behind the counter made it and put it next to the register and asked what my Boyfriend wanted next since we were paying together. He ordered a cotton candy milkshake with chocolate chips. The employee said "no, I can't do that because of the line" and just looked at us. We were honestly completely shocked they wouldn't make what he ordered. Mind you- The "create your own" shake is a menu item on the menu, and not to mention there were no more people behind us waiting, than there were in front of us before we ordered. We patiently waited for our turn to order, just to be told we couldn't have what we ordered...? There are even signs mentioning to those waiting that there would be longer waits due to staffing, thanking people for their patience while every one orders... My boyfriend ended up asking if they could just make cotton candy ice cream with the chocolate chips mixed in, in a bowl, and all he got was the cotton candy ice cream, no chocolate chips... we went home afterwards and I ended up finding my boyfriend making his own milkshake with my blender and heavy cream I had in the fridge. We honestly think it didn't take any more time for them to make my shake than it did for them to scoop out the ice cream we had and we wouldn't have been inconveniencing anyone behind us. We are always so understanding of things, before and after covid, but this definitely was a first for us to be refused something on the menu anywhere. They rang a customer up incorrectly and it took them 15 minutes to fix it. I don't understand why they were so slow. They were very skimpy on the portion. Although I don't typically review restaurants that are of large chain scale; I figured I would review cold stone. I haven't had cold stone in so long, that's because I was vegan for about 2.5 years and they do not have any vegan options so that is a bummer. I try to shy away from cow milk products still but wanted to try cold stone since it had been so long. You can try free samples so that's nice. I decided on the Oreo flavor with sprinkles mixed in. I just ordered the small size and it was enough to share with one other person, but hey I don't usually eat big servings of ice cream so it is probably typically only enough for one person. Great ice cream! Not so great service. The first person to take my order was super sweet, but the second one was not. I ordered two of the regular size cups. Here, there is one worker per cup to make the order. The second girl basically yelled at the first girl for making an honest mistake in what I ordered. I had ordered two of the special flavors and apparently you cannot combine those two flavors which is fine. However the first girl had already made my cup and was very loudly being corrected by the other girl, to the point multiple people could hear. I didn't think that was very professional especially because it was a simple mistake not deserving of such treatment amongst coworkers. When I got to the register with my two cups the second girl rang me up. She put three cups in my order, but I only ordered two. I asked if she rang up three because of the mistake? She then rudely let me know that no it wasn't because of the mistake but rather because I ordered three cups. I pointed to my two cups and said I only ordered two. She thought that my friend who had already paid for her ice cream and was standing to the side was a part of my order. I can understand the confusion in that no problem. She didn't even apologize for the mistake and seemed rather annoyed that I caught that. It was her tone and attitude combined with how she wasn't friendly in correcting her coworker that really put me off to there. Lastly, I left with rather an unkempt bowl because she didn't ask if I wanted my ice cream to go and when I asked for a lid the cup became such a mess to transport. Being mindful that the place was completely packed and little to no seating I'm not sure why it was assumed the ice cream would be enjoyed at the establishment. I've worked in customer service before and being friendly to staff and patrons is of the utmost importance even if there is a rush. I just don't understand how 2 LOVE IT sized plain waffle cups equals 16.00$ when they are priced 4.99$. I ordered butter pecan only and strawberry. ??? I watched the girls make cones and cups etc, and the portions of ice cream served per server are not equal. I'm saying this to note that there should be a measurable scooper per sized cup so that the proportions of ice cream toppings and added treats make sense and fill the cones. Okkkkkk.. well i'll gladly pay you .79 or whatever for some peanut butter cups. We walk in, there's 4-5 employees in there working. We are the only customers in this place, keep in mind. However no one dares to speak a word to us as we waited several minutes. My father in law tries to talk to them, saying "how you guys doin?" No response but they continue talking with one another. I finally say "are you guys open?" No response. I get closer and say it again and one girl responds with "yeah! ... sorry" and just goes back to what she's doing. I understand if you're busy working on other things but you can at least say something to your customers and acknowledge that they are there.. Finally someone comes to help us. We ask for the "love it" and "gotta have it" sizes, and the ice cream barely touched the rim (aka, not enough ice cream at all). We go to coldstone all the time up north and the ice cream is ALWAYS topped well over the rim, and if you look online that's how it is too. I used to come in pretty frequently several years ago if I was shopping. They had college students working who were pretty pleasant and would sing to you if you put a tip in the tip jar. It was fun. We went there recently and it was completely different. It looks like there are maybe new owners or new management. We had a coupon for a 2 for $6 "like it" scoop with a mix in. The much older woman behind the counter rang us up for two regular priced "like it" scoops and took .98 cents off twice. We tried to explain that this wasn't the coupon, and she argued with us. Kept saying, "What do you want me to do?" We just wanted her to honor our coupon. She told us, "This is the only button I have" and "I can't change the price". We probably would have just let it go if she didn't try to argue with us about the price and then make no effort to help honor our coupon. We have worked in the food industry and in customer service for years, and we just thought it would have been a pretty simple request to honor the coupon or at least not be rude about it. read more

This place was empty!!! Was it the time of day? The day of the week? Was everyone in a movie at the theater across the street or getting cards at the Hallmark next door? What was the deal? Oh well, more time for me to sample ice cream. On that note, me and my frugal self (who normally goes to Orange Leaf because of the discount card) went to Coldstone. I was delighted that the employee offered assistance as in asking what flavors I particularly enjoyed, but then when I asked "Oh what's good?" they made a very blunt reply saying that they didn't know. This wasn't helpful to me, so I just went with the good ol mint ice cream and added oreos to it. Prices at Coldstone also always seem to get me.... Mix-ins, cones, sprinkles and what-not are extra, and the prices are not easily interpreted on the menu. Disclaimer-yes I can read the sign on the wall. It was late, my wife was craving Ice Cream, and The Best Chocolate in Town was closed. So we drove all the way to Greenwood to get ice cream. The ice cream is good, it's fun to watch them mix in the "mix ins". I never knew this, but they SING at this location. I found it very entertaining and they take requests. Really good icecream. Mixed together or with your favorite topping on a frosted stone slab right in front of you. Their waffle cones are not the best tasting I have ever had, but still good considering the quality of ice cream that is inside them. Great flavors for everyone. My personal faves are the cake batter and cotton candy. Pretty busy on any given day it seems. Also rather pricey.......$5 for a medium bowl of ice cream. (two scoops with no extra toppings). I will definitely try some toppings mixed in next time though...looks delicious. read more

While the service was fast and everyone seemed friendly. My issue with this business is that while we were waiting to pay the person who I assume is the manager was berating an employee for not realizing a customer didn't pay for her ice cream. He was doing this while standing in front of the cash register. If you need to discuss something with your employees don't do it right in front of customers especially when you are being incredibly rude and over the top. Maybe if you had a better system in place instead of just assuming everyone around you knows what's going on this problem wouldn't happen. read more
