After spending a sunny afternoon celebrating my besties birthday with her and a few of our girlfriends, we decided to keep the fun going with some ice cream. Never too old for a random sweet treat! Although we were already in the neighborhood, we lucked up on a day when everybody and their mama were outside, which meant limited parking. So we had to pay for parking on this visit, but ended up making it worthwhile by strolling around Decatur Square with our cones. I When we entered, there was one employee behind the counter and they were so kind. There were a few customers in front of us and some behind us in line, so apparently we weren't the only adults in the city who were craving a sweet treat. The store was so cute and covered in art and clocks created with ice cream scoops. We decided to taste a few flavors that were new to us and the employee was so patient with us. We all decided to go with the honeycomb flavor, and I added on a scoop of strawberry because I believe in treating myself. I was bummed that they didn't have sugar cones, but a waffle cone worked. My ice cream was SO good! And they were quite generous with the scoops. As I'm writing this out, I'm wanting a fresh pint of my own again. Such a great stop when you're craving something sweet!

However, the flavor itself just did not come through. It almost tasted like a base without much depth. The only moments of real flavor were when I bit into the cookie pieces or the toffee bits, which were both enjoyable, but the ice cream on its own felt like it was missing something. It is a bit hard to describe because the consistency was there, but the taste simply did not match. That said, I am not writing Butter & Cream off at all. I have had other flavors here that were absolutely delicious, which is why I am willing to give this one another try. Overall, still one of my preferred ice cream spots in Decatur. As We began to place our order, we asked for 3 Snickerdoodles and were advised "those are out, they have to go in the oven." No further information as to how long they may take, an offer to wait on them, nothing. Every other Insomnia I have been to, if a cookie is out and the store is not about to close they advise that it has to be placed in the oven, inform you how long it will take for them to bake, and ask if you would like to wait for them. But no... the level of service today stopped at telling us they had to be put in the oven and that was it. As I was already inside and wanted my Insomnia fix, I placed my order for 3 Oatmeal, and 3 White Chocolate Macadamia retrieved my cookies and departed. To my dismay, the displeasing, tactless level of service I received today has turned this into a detractor experience for me. I will not patronize this location again. I'll battle parking and risk getting a ticket before coming here again. As expensive as these cookies are, they should come with a side of service as a courtesy. Nonetheless, my cookies were AMAZING. Cheesecake is one of my favorite desserts and going one step further, the Salted Caramel Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory (CF) is one of my all-time favorites. That said, I've been patiently waiting to try this one from my local Crumbl for a while. The cookie is dense, satisfyingly chewy, and cool (it's served chilled). There's just a hint of graham cracker flavor to the cookie, but it might also just be overpowered by the real stars of the show: salted caramel & cream cheese frosting. Crumbl acolytes know the power of that phenomenal cream cheese frosting and this time there's an additional layer of caramel. As expected, the caramel is sweet, sticky, and chewy. If I have one complaint about the cookie it's this, mine did not really have much sea salt. Crumbl's stock photo shows a caramel pool teeming with sea salt and if you look closely at mine there are only a few specs of salt. This can be forgiven as the cookie is just so damn good!
