We've now celebrated two wonderful birthdays here at Lady Camellia. Both times have been an…read moreabsolute blast. The tea is wonderful with lots of cream and sugar readily available on the table. The linens and tea sets are gorgeous and fun. We get the afternoon tea for two and it is absolutely more than enough food to satisfy you. I have had one of everything now, and each bite has been a good one.

Afternoon tea at Lady Camellia's was the perfect remedy to melt away the stress of the day. My mom…read morehad heard about this place so we made a reservation for 4:15 pm, which is proper English tea time. The space is beautiful and tranquil. We were given a comfortable corner table with a view of the well-appointed room and the river beyond. The menu offers something for every appetite. We ordered the cream tea and the savory tea to share. This gave us classic and delicious scones -- proper English ones; not those triangular abominations that so many American establishments offer -- with Devonshire cream, strawberry preserves and lemon curd. Croissants were also an available option. The savory tea offered a choice of classic sandwiches which were all wonderful, but I particularly loved the chicken salad. Of course we each were given a pot of tea with a vast assortment to choose from. Earl Gray has long been my favorite, but somehow Lady Camellia's offers the best I've ever tasted on either side of the Atlantic. All of this was perfect enough, yet it was served to us by the loveliest woman who seemed to take genuine pleasure in our enjoyment of the whole experience. We can't wait to go back. One note: Lady Camellia's address is on the Strand, but if a member of your party has mobility issues, you'll want to avoid this route as steps block your way. Instead, approach from S. Union Street for a flat walk.

To quote the great Tyra Banks: "I want to give you a zero, but that's not possible. So I give you a…read more1." Let's just say the food here was absolutely disappointing. All of the hip young girls in high school recommended this place to me and my friends and lets just say, they have never been more wrong. My girls and I went this weekend for a birthday brunch. I wanted a crepe, but when I saw it was 17 DOLLARS to slap some Nutella and strawberries on a piece of crepe is outrageous. I ordered a "Continental Breakfast," which, with tax and tip, cost me $30 DOLLARS. I wish you could have seen the look on my face when they gave me a plate of rabbit food. All 6 of us looked at the plate and laughed. Seriously, my 5 year old neice can eat 3 times as much of that in one sitting. So, in what world would that be enough food for a grown woman? My friend then went on to order the French toast for a grand total of $36 DOLLARS. Mind you, there was only one piece of toast, and the Inside was raw and soggy. Tasted like eating wet, soaked toilet paper. On top of the overpriced food and small portions, our "server" came to our table for a total of ONE SINGULAR TIME. My friend had also ordered a Chai Latte. Surprise, Surprise! It never came, and they still charged her for it. I think the nice man who brought us our food could see the look on our faces when we received our food, because he then brought us a free side of French fries. It is a huge problem when the french fries were the only sufficient thing I put in my mouth at this restaurant. I please, genuinely beg all of you to NOT waste your money. I promise there is anywhere else where you can get a crepe for double the size and half the cost. Once we left, we went down to Call Your Mother, the Jewish Deli, to get more food, as all of us left with our tummies still rumbling. Mind you, a full bagel sandwich and coffee cost HALF THE PRICE of one meal at Fontaine. Horrible. Mind you, it is 2 days later, and I am still thinking about this. I fully created a Yelp account just so I could leave a review. I think I would have a better experience eating an IHOP Continental breakfast than whatever I put in my mouth at this restaurant. Not worth the hype at all. Save your hard-earned cash and be a big baller elsewhere!

My husband enjoyed his hot caramel latte (soy milk)...he's a native New Yorker who hates Starbucks as a reference. My best friend got an iced salted caramel vanilla latte (almond milk)...she loved the taste. I had the sugar daddy (hot w/almond milk) and it was the perfect drink as I was cramping (think hot chocolate & coffee combined). The barista was patient with us even though there was a line. She answered all our questions and gave good recommendations. And of course did a great job making the coffee! The building looks small at first but there is a good amount of seating both inside and outside and looked great for solo stop ins or small groups/families. We'll definitely be back !

To begin, this place is super cute; everyone is beyond friendly; from drinks to food, I haven't had anything that I dont like there; a great place to come in to do some work and enjoy your crafted beverage. If you haven't ate, their beef paddy's are my goto! Before becoming pescatarian I used to get their beef patty with my nutella latte. (I need to try the veggie now) Today, I got an Iced Pistachio Matcha drink off their Spring Menu. It was amazing! If you are in the Old Town Alexandria area, make sure you stop by x grab a drink x grab a snack baked freshly everyday!
