This is the best shaved ice I have ever had and I have had a ton of shaved ice including in multiple famous places in Hawaii and internationally. My wife and I stumbled upon Capital Snow last year when they opened because they were nearby to where we live. Marc the owner is one of the nicest guys you will meet. He remembers our names every time we go and treats all his customers so kindly. Since we started going last year, the lines get longer and longer which is only a testament to how incredible the shaved ice is. Marc makes everything only using fresh ingredients and you can tell. If you're in the area I highly recommend Capital Snow and promise you won't regret it (although can't promise you won't develop an addiction!).

DEFINITELY TRY OUT THIS LOCAL HIDDEN GEM! Solid sno ball place, I've been wanting to try one of these for a long time. After trying it, I prefer these flavors over traditional American ones. I would definitely recommend this place if you haven't tried a Louisiana Sno Ball or if you just want a good sweet treat during the summer! Tips: -They may close early.. no website so it's a hidden gem (Come before 7 PM) -Try unique flavors like Wedding Cake, it's a Louisiana classic! -There's always a flavor combo everyday!

The shaved ice here is so good. I love that they use fresh fruits in their syrups. I have been looking for a shaved ice place just like my favorite place in Hawaii and they did not disappoint at all. Great value and friendly service.

Two smalls - coconut lime (l) and cherry (r).

What it lacks in curb appeal, being this little truck in a gas station parking lot at Franconia Road and Grovedale Drive by the DMV, it more than makes up for by being a tasty value. It's not snow cones but more sorta flavored snowy slush you eat with a spoon - wet snow rather than icy crunch. Fairly deep menu of mostly fruit flavors. I got coconut lime, Ladyfriend got cherry. Both had a lot of flavor. I especially liked the refreshing tartness of the lime. A $4 small is perfect; 50 cents more and the $4.50 medium looks like a hefty portion. Service was jackrabbit quick and perfectly good. Definitely going back.

This guy turns away three customers so he can go outside and spit tobacco. Really?

Awesome. My son talked about it everyday! We got it the first day in DC we had to get it before we left also.

The kind where one cookie can easily be shared (or not lol ). They're rich and sweet, so if you're someone who loves a heavy dessert that feels like a treat-treat, you'll be in heaven. Easily a 10/10 for that category. What really stood out to me was the variety of flavors. I tried the strawberry matcha cookie and was honestly surprised by how much I liked it. It had a really nice balance of flavors and didn't feel gimmicky at all. It's always a risk trying something a little different, but this one definitely paid off. Another thing I appreciated was that they had a section of cookies discounted because they were made the night before. I love when places do this...it's a great way to try more flavors without spending a lot, and honestly, the cookies were still really good. Service-wise, the cashier was super helpful and patient, especially when it came to explaining flavors and giving recommendations. That always makes a difference when you're staring at a case full of options and can't decide.

Not because of the flavors, but the ways you can get your sweet treat (like, cone, cup, sundae, etc.) and other various options (like ice cream, sorbet, custard, etc.) I sampled a couple of sorbet flavors and ended up with a small cup of those two flavors. A small cup is two scoops so it was perfect! The flavors were Lemon Lavender and POG (pomegranate, orange, guava). At first I think I liked the lavender best, but as I continued to eat, I think POG stole the show. They were both refreshing and flavorful and I appreciated the blends to give my tastebuds new flavors. Del Ray is such a cute neighborhood too. I sat outside at the tables/benches to eat. If you're planning a visit, their website is pretty slim and doesn't list all the options for getting a sweet treat. I do think it would be helpful for it to include those options. But others have posted pictures of their menu so you can search for that.

The server person was clearly impatient with him but made me a little uncomfortable. I got the "Kit Kat" ice cream sandwich. It came in an Oreo wafer and was chocolate custard and was hard as a rock, plus was bland. I had to go back in and ask if it was actually the right thing, since it was so unrelated to KitKat. The cashier guy said yeah, it is KitKat. I told him it was nasty. It was $7.70 when all was said and done. Don't be back.

On this day I was in The Dairy Godmother and noticed that Just Fine was also located there, so it was a good opportunity to try. It was a Saturday night almost 9pm and I didn't realize they were about to close. When I ordered my donut, I asked if I was getting ice cream too, should I pay separately or together and I was informed that since they were about to close, the donuts were free! And they asked if I wanted to try any others. So I got: mango tajin, chocolate cake (not pictured) and chocolate glazed. The chocolate cake was dry and didn't have much flavor. The chocolate glazed was my favorite. The donut was cakey and reminded me of some sweet treat from my childhood that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe some of the Entenmann's donuts? Anyway, it was really good for being a simple and plain donut. The manjo tajin wasn't bad. It's a plain vanilla cake donut with the mango and tajin in the icing. The flavors were good, but it wasn't worth me finishing. I love donuts and I love specialty donuts. While they may have some, this wasn't a place that I will include in my regular donut rotation, but I'm glad I finally got to try them.

After taking a look at the candy, gelato and desserts, we settled on key lime pie. The key lime pie was pretty good, though it was perhaps a little too sweet and the filling rather dry. Because we were first time customers, the shopkeeper offered us each a piece of complimentary candy. The candy had a shell filled with a confection containing Japanese citrus yuzu fruit. The shell was coated with dark chocolate. I'm just going to say this was the tastiest, most delightful candy I've ever sampled. Dolce & Bean also sells attractively designed packages of candies. These would make good gifts. We absolutely will be back for more candy and want to try the gelato. One minor thing is that the shop was chilly and I had to put my hoodie on. But heck, aren't most restaurants and stores around the DMV freezing cold in the summer?
