One of my favorite places for cocktails. The location is tucked away in Chinatown and once you step inside the bar, it feels like an exclusive lounge. The cocktails are always changing and have some of the most unique flavors. I would highly recommend this place! read more

I loved the ambiance of this bar. Cozy and classic without feeling old fashioned or stuffy. I am so over the ultra modern, cold, slick interiors of most bars and restaurants these days. The ambiance here made you want to sit down with a drink and have a conversation with good friends. It wasn't very busy the night we went and the service was fast and efficient. However, cocktails were not awesome. Very expensive too. The Sometimes Old Fashioned ($16) is very sweet. I would not recommend it for anyone who likes a classic old fashioned. My $22 cocktail..forgot its name...was bland and watery. I may just stick to beer and wine next time I'm there. read more

Each time I come here, I leave utterly disappointed in the overall experience. The drinks are good and the atmosphere is good enough. The bartenders are not engaging though. There are other bars that have just as good of drinks for lower prices and the bartenders are awesome and friendly. At this price point I feel they should be held to a higher standard. read more

Oh daddy daddy daddy! Fuckity fuck fuck fuck! Had a blast, best bartenders ever! Drinks were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Swanky AF. Sexay lighting. Bring yo date! Italian job is the best. read more

What a stylish and gorgeous little bar. It's above China Live, and not easy to find, which lends an air of exclusivity and mystery. We were there with friends on a Saturday night. The drinks were tasty, a little pricey, but I didn't begrudge them the price of a $15 cocktail as the group of us lingered for almost 3 hours and only ordered 3 rounds of drinks. The staff is as stylish as the venue and very courteous. They didn't rush us out or push us to order more (as would surely have happened at an equivalent NYC bar.) read more

I met up with my friends at this bar. It was a bit difficult to find since I did not realize it was upstairs. When I went into the bar, it had great ambience! Love the cozy feel! I ordered a tequila type drink recommended by the bartender, it was delicious! Wish I knew what it was called... read more

Hmmmm...Nice dark decor. Kinda romantic and sexy vibe. But did not really feel it. Bartenders and servers were nicely dressed up. Cocktail / wine options were not bad...pricing are not legit. TBH, it's still upstairs of the old Gold Mountain. read more

Probably one of the finest bar that I've been to. Drinks were excellent. There was one called the Chinese breakfast made from scallion infused cocktail. Strongly recommended read more

Scotch. Cocktails. Chinatown. Blade Runner atmosphere. If these are relevant to your interests, come have a drink! After long deliberations (everything on the menu looked amazing) I ordered a Sometimes Old Fashioned, which was delicious, but after watching the bartender, Sacred (yes, that's his name), make a couple custom drinks for someone else, I placed my fate in his hands and asked him to create something special for me. He asked me a few questions about my tastes, and ended up making me a smoky tropical cocktail that I can only describe as my spirit animal (pun intended). If Islay's not your speed, I am confident he would make you something different that you would enjoy as much as I enjoyed this drink. The décor is sort of retro-futuristic, which fits the mashed-up nature of the cocktail menu. Cocktails go for $16-20 (aside from one $52 outlier), but the amount of work and attention to detail that goes into them completely justifies the price. The Scotch selection ranges from smooth blended to smoky single malt, and with the other liquors and liqueurs on hand, the cocktail possibilities are endless. read more

Kind of a secret. One of the coolest environments Out there. Craft cocktails, white tuxedo jackets and bartenders who take their job seriously. Check this place out if you have the time totally worth it read more

this spot have been on my list for a while now, but like china live, it's a little disappointing. cocktails are pricey - they start at $16. and i think they're moderately good..? the space is really gorgeous though, and i'd come here for a date or bring friends from out of town after roaming around chinatown/north beach, but not my favorite local bar. read more

We came on a Saturday, earlier in the evening. You follow the bats painted on the wall up the stairs to reach the bar. Perhaps it was the day we went, but I expected a more sophisticated and refined experience based on the photos and marketing. Drinks were above average (though I usually love Old-Fashioned's but didn't care for the one here) and service was very attentive, helpful, and friendly. There are a lot of bars in SF and I've been on a search for one that isn't the crowded, shout-above-the-noise usual. There's nothing wrong with those but sometimes you want a more intimate, upscale experience. I feel like they truly missed the chance to differentiate this bar from the hundreds of other bars in SF. The setting is welcoming with dark colors and touches of gold, that hint at a lounge-like atmosphere where you could relax and enjoy long conversations. Yet if you sit along the long couch in the back, the harsh fluorescent lamp directly outside the window pours in a distractingly bright light. However this is easily fixable if they close the blinds. In almost any other more casual bar, the music would have been a great, fun choice. But here, it contradicted what should have been an cozier, intimate setting. Additionally, as the night went on, the crowds and music seemed more club-like than a luxurious lounge. The noise level increasingly upped as people shouted to be heard above the music. I don't know if this was a typical night. I don't know if I would return if it was for the same experience. However I do feel like the employees put in a lot of effort to make sure you're well attended to, which is fairly rare in SF. read more

Lovely interior in this secret-feeling bar. Knowledgeable bartenders who were very helpful with drink choices. Closed kinda early, expect fancy, well-made pricey drinks. Argentinian bartender was a babe and very nice read more

Post happy hour my friends from work and I went here because we had heard really great things about this bar. This bar is pretty upscale and there are very few cocktails less than $18. I got a Mai Tai, my colleagues got a omakase drink (tequila based and refreshing) and the sword swallower. I wasn't crazy about my drink but I liked the sword swallower. This has a very swanky speakeasy lounge vibe but I found the drinks underwhelming for the price point. read more

Best bar in SF I have been to ! They are mainly a whiskey bar with an underlying 40s-50s theme and decor. Very fancy, we were 4 software engineers dressed in our hoodies while everyone else looked like they had walked out of a classic cinema. We weren't thrown out (thank god) , and we actually found ourselves some seats and some drinks! It's a great place for an after dinner drink, first dates or even not a first date Coming back for sure ! read more

I was excited to take my mom, who was visiting, to this place. We arrived and were seated at the bar without too much wait. We ordered two glasses of wine while enjoying each other's company. The bartender was in front of us making cocktails and I commented on how fascinating was to watch her create the cocktails. She completely ignored me, but I did not think much of it and assumed maybe she had not heard me. Then, it happened. The bill came. Almost $50 for 2 glasses of wine, which were $18 each. After examining the receipt closely, I noticed they had included a 20% tip. I was very confused since nobody had given us the heads up that this was the way they do business at this establishment. After reviewing the wine menu in disbelief, we noticed the small print at the bottom of the menu, which we missed when we first ordered our wine. I have lived in SF for over 2 decades, and I have never seen any business charge 20% for drinks service at the bar (no food). It is definitely not common practice, and the right thing to do would have been to let us know before ordering. To make matters worse I tried to bring it up to the bartender who abruptly cut me off before I was even done saying one sentence. Her statement: It is the same price no matter what you order. I tried to speak again and she cut me once more repeating the same sentence over and over. She was so rude, I could not believe it! Her actions made me feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. I felt bad for my mom having to experience such scene so I stayed quiet, paid and left. I am definitely NEVER returning here and I do not recommend this place at all. There are plenty of bars with great service, kind people and beautiful atmosphere in San Francisco. You won't find that here. Go to Bix instead, which is nearby. read more

This place is a hidden little gem! The drinks were very unique. On top of that, I accidentally left my credit card last night, and the host tonight was very helpful in helping me retrieve it. At first he couldn't find it at the bar, but then he went downstairs with me to help look for it at another location in the restaurant. Thanks for being helpful! read more

Came here with a large group of executives. It's a hidden gem. We did not think they would be able to accommodate such a large group, but they did!Ambiance is fantastic, the drinks exceptional. Sacred, our bartender and host is the best bartender in the city. We all raved for his shots! read more

Such a cool spot! The first bar that has great acusticsssss - finally! Music was awesome and I could actually talk to my husband without shouting out everything. Drinks were very expensive but I feel I paid for the experience rather than just the drink. I'm definitely coming back! read more

A friend recommended this bar inside of China Live to try if I'm ever in the area so I thought why not since I'm in town visiting family! Love their huge selection of cocktails and variety of scotch, pricey but worth it for the quality you are getting! Our bartender Derrick was awesome! Fun to talk to and gave great recommendations! My favorite drink was the "sinister occasion" and my husband's was the "rule breaker". We had a great time, and will be back again if we are in the area for sure! read more

House cocktails focused on whiskey right now, so my husband and I didn't have a lot to choose from (don't love whiskey). That said, service was great and they made two delicious custom cocktails based on our tastes. A little loud, but it's Saturday night so to be expected. Would come back especially if they had other non whiskey options. read more

Best decor and cocktails in the city. Look for the stagecoach outside and take the stairs up. Enter through the unmarked door and enjoy!

I'll admit that I was skeptical when a colleague suggested Cold Drinks when we walked into the neighborhood. However, tucked away on the second floor, it is in stark contrast to the industrial ground floor. Great selection of single malts and an old jazz bar feel was a welcome respite! read more

Great new cocktail bar. Original cocktail options, super flavorful, smooth and tasty. Most of them have some whiskey or scotch in them and yet are well balanced with the rest of flavors. Even the Sometimes Old Fashioned was smooth and infused with flavor from the pepper and lemon. Came here on a Saturday night, and found great ambience and very knowledgeable bartenders; Oscar, Yong and Secret. Perfect place to enjoy top notch cocktails, for a date or to bring business clients. We'll be back! read more

Awesome knowledge of scotch from the bartender! If you can find it, you should definitely stop in!

This is my favorite bar in the city of San Francisco. The interior is fantastic, very Blade Runner, with great lighting and a view of Chinatown. I really loved the atmosphere here, and the drinks were delicious. The reason why I'm not giving this place more stars is because when I checked my bank statement, I realized that the bartender rounded up the tip I left, to make the total an even amount. It was only about 25 cents, so it's not a huge deal, but I don't like that he took it upon himself to do that. Seems dishonest. read more

Went here with a local who swore by it. Good music and friendly bartenders but underwhelming experience overall. Drinks are unique but incredibly expensive and not worth it. Got there around 11pm on a Friday - it was pretty dead, especially after midnight. read more

Very cool drink bar in the city - drinks are about 16-22 dollars - you get to feel you are out of San Francisco for a night

Great place to hang out with friends. Drinks are always made well and cold. Great service too. Will come often.

WARNING LADIES. Something was slipped into my drink here on Thursday, January 31, 2019. I had dinner with friends at China Live, we came here for drinks afterwards. I ordered the Mai Thai, drank less than half of it before I started feeling woozy and awkward. I was not drunk. We went back to my friend's apartment, where my legs were wobbly and not quite working, my head was spinning, I was panicked. She called 911, I was taken to the ER via ambulance where I spent the rest of the night receiving intravenous fluid and anti-nausea medication, unable to walk or open my eyes. 3 days later, I'm still not feeling quite right and it's shameful that something like this would happen at such a nice place. It was not crowded, we were not a rowdy bunch (we are all 50+ ladies enjoying an evening out), I have no idea why I was targeted (or if it was meant for someone else) but I can tell you I will never be back. And if you think $26 is expensive for a drink at this place, wait until I get my medical bill for the night. SHAMEFUL AND DISGUSTING. read more
