My first experience at Coffee Head was a pleasant surprise, as we stumbled upon it by accident and dropped in for a quick coffee. A lovely astroturf area out the front was perfect for a sunny day.
We returned for breakfast and my sister raved about the corn fritters for days afterwards. Both times the staff inside when we paid our bill were a bit unfriendly but we brushed it off, as the other waitstaff were very friendly.
Our third visit brought us back for breakfast to introduce a few locals to our find. To say we were disappointed is an understatement.
- Three out of four of us ordered the fritters on previous rave reviews, one of us asked for the poached egg to be well done.
- They gave the well done poached egg to the wrong customer (too late after the runny yolk went all over her meal)
- All servings of fritters were pretty much inedible. They were doughy, overcooked and oily, with hardly any corn kernels. A thorough disappointment because they were so good last time.
- One of my party asked the waitress for some peanut butter on toast, and explained that she couldn't eat the fritters
- The manager came out shortly after and argued with her that because she had eaten one of the fritters, they were going to charge her for the fritters and the peanut butter toast (I beg to differ, but I'm pretty sure you have to eat some of the meal to work out if it's nice or not!) before we had even asked about getting any of our money back. Our waitress apologised profusely, as she had tried to get our peanut butter toast free of charge
- We had tried to explain that they were not the same standard that we had consumed on a previous visit
- When my friend went to pay for the bill, she asked to speak to the manager to giver her some feedback on our experience. Before my friend opened her mouth, the manager began to argue with her and became very defensive. We were not asking for a discount or free coffees or a free meal, we just simply wanted to give management some constructive feedback.
So, all I can do is give that feedback here and say that I will never come back here again and do not recommend anyone go here. Try some of the other great funky cafes that are popping up in the area instead. read more
