If someone hadn't reminded me about this restaurant, I would have completely forgotten about it. And even if I drove by a few times, I don't think I would have noticed it, because it's in a very unassuming location with a very low key facade, but let me tell you that the interior is beautiful and very, very spacious. They were exceptionally accommodating tonight, as they were solidly booked (which tells you how good they are) yet they found a way to squeeze us in if we went a little early, which was no problem at all. The food is as beautiful as the decor and the service was top notch. I had the Pan Fried Curried Beef Dumplings and the Sweet and Sour Chicken in Batter which were both SO incredibly delicious. Everyone else at the table loved their meal too and we will definitely come back. It can get a little loud, but again, good service, good food and it was a really nice dining experience. DO NOT DINE HERE!!! My family and I have been ordering takeaway from Chois for years. This was our first time dining in. Our booking was confused with another large group and we were placed in the private dining room. The manager Amy began to ABUSE my mother about conversations that occurred over the phone with the other group. My mother was accused of hanging up the phone and disregarding emails. Amy the manager then realised that she had confused us for another group and did not apologise or explain her lack of professionalism. Amy instructed us to move to the main dining room where the rest of the dining staff greeted us with animosity. The food service was fine and we managed to salvage the rest of our evening. The bill arrived and we were charged $39 for WATER($13 per bottle). We specifically requested tap water and the waiters accused us of requesting still. We tried to reason with them but they treated us with the same rudeness that they displayed at the start of our evening. The food was unbelievable expensive and they charged us a $25 fee for brining our own birthday cake. After the water debacle our night was completely ruined. We went there for a birthday celebration and had the most memorable night of our lives FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS. read more

After 20 years of semi regular custom, never again. Overpriced, inedible food that finally arrives at the table after some of the worst service we have experienced. BEWARE of this establishment they over charged our credit cards by $600 and then argued with us about processing the credit. I challenge you to find a better Chinese restaurant in the suburbs. My favourite for many years now. Elegant decor, attentive but not intrusive service, extensive menu and some of the best food tastes you will experience. Tonight I took my better half there to celebrate her birthday, it is that kind of place. From the moment we entered we experienced warm and attentive service. Water glasses were filled and hot towels brought to the table both before and after dinner. We ordered a serving of the bacon and spring onion cake and curried beef puffs for entrees, duck soup (delicious), followed by duck with orange sauce and eggplant with chicken for mains and fried banana fritters stuffed with sun dried dates for dessert. This is a restaurant if you want rip-off service and sub standard food. Mainly for white people who don't know Cantonese food any better. This was unfortunately a meal with cost $1200 for 12 people. Over $90 a pound for crab. And I wasn't even full by the end of it. The food was edible I'll give it that but there are many many alternatives. Hoi's Kitchen, Old Kingdom, Gold Leaf, Pacific Seafood. These all do better Cantonese food for not even $200 for the whole night. The waiters were overly gracious and service was over the top well no shit considering we paid that much. Didn't even greet us or say thank you for coming to the restaurant treating us just another bunch of people that they tricked and ripped off. EXPECT TO PAY AROUND $40 A DISH or for the SPECIALS: $100 A DISH. Serving portions are very miniscule I urge everyone to read this and never come here in the future. I hope staff from Chois read this and give me a refund because that was horrendous what we paid and what sub standard food and service we received. I am overly surprised that this place was even rated above a 2/5 on Zomato. These people were obviously paid to write these reviews or they are white people that don't know any better sorry. Mixed feelings - left hungry with a very empty wallet but the food was A-ok. Here's the thing, I enjoy most Chinese food I find in Melbourne and embrace the fusion and varying prices. Though the food was good, combined with service and price I don't think I'd be going back. Choi's has a sleek fancy interior and service is on the higher end for a Chinese restaurant (waiters are immaculately dressed and all speak several languages). We went with a large group so took up 3 round tables but though I expected slower service, I found it really choppy. As previous reviews have commented on the extensive menu and price let's have a look at this in more detail keeping in mind I did not get to try every single entree. Perhaps this will help you make a decision on whether to try Choi's or not. Entree: 4 single scallops - $22: salty, juicy and overpriced Sung Choi Bau - $14: this came with 2 bau's Blue Cheese Prawn roll- $14: 1 roll Jumbo Prawn - $20: 2 prawns Main: Plate of Beancurd with veg - $22: Overpriced plate of vegetables, would not have been disappointed if it was an actual PILE of veges but no. 7 steamed rice - $28: 1 tall tin of rice...this works out to be $4 a head. Steamed Morwong (fish) - $95: Very fresh fish, well steamed and good service serving the fish as wait staff filleted the fish. 3 Cups Chicken -$32: Really delicious dish with oily sweet juicy chicken and you should totally try it. Wished the serving size was bigger. Garlic Chicken - $75: This chicken is cooked in aluminum foil that is wrapped in hard baked bread. Perk is that your table gets to use a hammer to smash! Yes, not even joking. Traditionally the chicken is wrapped in clay. After the smash, they take the chicken away and peel away the rest of the bread and shred the chicken for you which is served with a side dish of broth.
